I have repeated contacted the company since we moved into our new home in 09/2017. The exterior french doors do not close properly. The screen system does not work properly either. Repair people came out and had to cut the door frame to make the screen fit into the slot alotted for them.
The main door does not close and a repair person came out and we were told the door was defective and it was up to Jeld-Wen to compensate. The doors no longer close proplerly so you can actually see outside if they are not locked. I have to always keep them locked so if someone is coming I still would not be able to unlock them so they can walk in without me rushing to the door.
The last time they came out in 12/2018, I was suppose to receive a report about the repairman's findings but never did. I repeated sent an email asking for a report with no answer. I do not know if the person I had to deal with is still there or not. Being seniors on SOC, we cannot afford another door but there is no other alternative.
I was hoping to get this resolved without having to incure a large bill. These doors cost $2,400 and are even more expensive now. It is very disappointing to have a new house with defective doors and a manufacturer not willing to fix them.
I ordered Jeldwen french doors thru home depot. When they arrived back in Aug, 2018, they were not only the wrong size, but the workmanship was shoddy. The top of one of the doors was clearly cut by hand and not machine, as it was wavy instead of straight. They door handles wouldnt line up because they were clearly two different size doors. In spite of all of this, my contractor was able to make it work. However, there was supposed to be a screen for the door. It was not there. I paid for it. These doors cost me nearly $1700. It's been 3 months, and I keep going back and forth to home depot, and they tell me they cant get a responce out of the Jeldwen rep. I just want my screen at this point. Some reinbursment for what it will cost me to have a contractor come back and install it would be nice too! It cost me extra to have the opening for the door refited when the wrong size doors came.
Purchased two vinyl sliding doors and two picture windows from Home Depot in May 2015. Within six months of installation the vinyl started to warp on the sliding doors making them hard to close and secure.. it took FOUR MONTHS to get a rep out to look at them, another THREE MONTHS to get the replacement parts and another THREE to get them fixed. Last October the picture windows started to fog up and the vinyl trim on the exterior started to warp.. called customer service and waited until January, another THREE MONTHS wait for a rep to come out. He didn'the have the right trim with him despite Jeld-Wen being given the model number of the windows, nor the glass to replace the leaking panes. Finally got a call that the rep would be back today, February 16th between 1 and 3pm when he didn'the show contacted customer service, apparently they didn't ship the parts to the warehouse for the rep to pick up so they have to reschedule, can we say anothere three month wait?
The jeld-wen 3 panel patio door ordered 1/24/2016 arrived with the third panel 1 1/2 inch too short, lacking handle and lock.
Customer service has jerked us around for six weeks, first trying to blame our contractor, then their sub-contractor, then their installer, then their sub-installer while we live with an unsightly, insecure plywood sheet in place of the third panel. My requests to speak to a supervisor were denied.
Twice installation has been cancelled because this is jeldwen's "busy season."
If this issue is finally resolved on the third installation date set, 4/19/2016, be warned: jeld-wen is inept. We still have 18 windows to replace, but will go elsewhere.
