It is a shame that NAR is lending its name to international organizations which are not organized in countries where real estate activities are not regulated by laws. The Realtor board must be selective on who they support.

Countries like the Dominican Republic where I have been a victim at my self as a referring agent and a buyer, you have people who continue to do business while and after having been convicted of fradulent real estate crimes. Case in point, Ilonka Castillo who is on the news for years having caused a loss to many US investors and retireees who have lost their homes.

This woman was the president of FIABCI in Dominican Republic throughout the scams, even after the sentencing, and continues to work as a mentor flying in from her now home in Florida to teach new unsuspecting real estate wannabes in real estate courses provided by the AEI or Asociación de Agentes y Empresas Inmobiliarias which is the local real estate assication.

All of this with the approval of her good friend and 'embassador' on behalf of Realtor Organization Larissa Ortiz at Global Properties Realty in Florida, United States who is also Dominican.

It is a shame that we look for guidance to our board and who they support and approve of publicly, and not do their job which is to protect and educate the consumers and other agents about the perils of investing in developing countries where being an embassador is supposed to be helping bring the standards up to par to work with us North Americans. It is the typical nepotism, let's cover up the past attitude you find througout Latin America. We are empowering these people to scam us by our own board!

Tourism project developer Ilonka Castillo was sentenced to three years in prison after found guilty of fraud that ran in the millions of dollars, mainly by taking money to pay her private debt with the Banco del Progreso.

The judicial system claimed in news sources that it is ready to respond to claims and complaints by victim-plaintiffs who’re willing to embrace the process in an wavering manner, yet she continued to do business selling off lnd that had no proper deeds and more of us fell into the same problems, all while she was president of the local real estate asociation and continues to be part of these organization where she is regarded as a top educator. We are expected to spend thousands of dollars in a corruptt system to recover our looses.

No payments received as of today.
