Scott Hallauer and The Hallauer law firm stole money from me. I wished I would have saw the bad reviews on Avvo.com before I hired him. He is known to steal clients money.
I hired this firm last year to represent me. This lawyer never met with me in person to discuss my case, never did anything but steal my money. I even called to ask are we going to meet and never got a clear response. Then his receptionist tells me oh you all can meet at 10:30 on the day of Court. I never saw him. I paid this man and he stole my money because he did not show up to court. He called me two hours later saying that he was in another courtroom next door. He told me that the charges were split in two which is why he was in a different courtroom than I was.
I found out that they never separate charges like that into two separate rooms by the Clerk of court and the judge. I called Mr Hallauer trying to figure out what was going on and he got very nasty with me and said that I had a capias out for my arrest which was not true. I was in the right courtroom and then he goes on to say that I left early. Why would I leave court early when I have a charge against me, who in their right mind would do that? Then he lies and says I have a capias. Does this sound like somebody that should be representing you? And on top of that he has never seen me before.
He never came out of the courtroom, he never called my name to find out who I was or where I was like other lawyers do in court. He didn't do any of that he stole my money which is not fair and this is why he's on Rip Off Report! Please do not use this man he is a con artist!
My biggest mistake was hiring him before I read previous rip off reports, because they were all completely true. My first sign should have been when he called me wanting to represent my son. He played off his experience as a naval JAG officer and how my son, who is ex-navy, needs him. This was a violation of a Protective Order case. He told me that the case would be "almost open and shut" that he "sees these things all the time" and for $1700 he would be his defense attorney and he would be "out of jail in no time". Long story short, he did absolutely nothing. He did not contact witnesses for my son's defense, did not provide paperwork necessary for his defense, actually postponed the hearing because he had a previous commitment to be out of town so my son actually stayed incarcerated even longer for his case to be heard. Even though the complaintant changed the story 4 times, due to Scott's unpreparedness, the case was certified to the grand jury instead. Afterwards, he informed me it would be "another $15,000 to proceed, because if you and your son think I'm going to do this for $1700 you're both crazy". Granted things don't always go as planned, however, he did absolutely nothing to earn the $1700 he was paid, cannot produce the paperwork he says is "in a file", and has yet to interview witnesses for my son's defense. Do not waste your time or money to be represented by a lazy and incompetent lawyer, just to be verbally abused by him and treated rudely.
