I received a call from a tele-a-marker asking what kind of printer I have and how her company was offering a special on toner. I was told that if I bought 2 toner cartridges, I’d get a third for free. She also said they would throw in some promotional items (pens). I don’t know what I was thinking. I’ve heard of this scam before, but I guess they caught me on an off day. Anyway, I agreed even though the toner was pretty pricey. They said it cost more because it last longer and they offer a two year guarantee. Well the 3 toners arrived, but I didn’t use it because the toner I have currently have in the printer is still good. Later I received the bill for an outrageous amount of $439.76. I could have sworn they quoted me a price of $167; instead the bill was for $183.99 per cartridge ($367.98 for two) plus a $71.76 shipping and handling fee. I felt so stupid, but I suck it up and paid with my credit card. I just wanted to be done with it.

However a week later someone from the same company called to ‘follow up’ and she says ‘the other six cartridges will be on the way’. That was shock enough since I didn’t agree to purchase nine toner cartridges, but then she says the total amount is $1200. That’s on top of the $439.76 I’ve already paid. I was absolutely floored. After some back and forth, she said she would give me a break and knock $200 off the price. I relented, but was worried sick about how would I pay $1000 for toner cartridges? What was I going to do with 9 boxes of toner when I only have one printer and worse yet, how was I going to explain how stupid I was for letting my guard down? After I thought about it, I decided to look up this company, Green tech Imaging and I found they have a history of this kind of scam and they have numerous complaints against them. I called Green Tech a few days later and told them I never agreed to this purchase (in the original call) and I wanted to cancel the order. The representative said they would not have sent it without my permission (note: the representative never gave me the option to refuse the six additional toner purchase; I felt like I had no choice but to accept it). Furthermore the shipment was on its way. I told her when it gets here, I will be refusing delivery. She did give me tracking number so that I knew when to expect it. It came and went today. I am hoping this will be the last I ever hear of this company.

Frankly I don’t know why they are allowed to operate with so many complaints against them. I am writing this because I hope that not only will someone learn from my mistake, but it may finally convince the powers that be to shut this kind business down and punish these scammers.

Do not do business with this company. if they call to offer you discounted or free ink cartridges, refuse. They are a very hard sell.

Even almost a year after I completed purchasing the amount of ink they told me I agreed to by accepting their "free" cartridges, they called again to say I still needed to buy 4 more cartridges. This was after they specifically told me that my account would be closed after the last shipment I got from them about a year ago.

Only after arguing with them and stating several times that i never signed anything that bound me to purchasing anything from them did they again tell me my account would be closed. I expect they will call again - they will not take no for an answer.

Worst. Company. Ever.

I had a similar experience to the previous poster. I accepted the trial offer and continued to get inundated with pressure-filled sales calls from salespeople who would not take no for an answer. Do not get sucked in by the promotional offer. They do not listen when you say that you have enough ink. They will also ply you with store gift cards to keep you on the phone. I finally had to hang up on the last salesperson because he wouldn't stop saying that he had to "at least break even". They also have no email address for complaints - you must call and speak to a representative to discuss (which is honestly the last thing I wanted to do). I finally sent a letter demanding that they remove my company from their database and never to call me again. They are a shady, shady bunch. Beware!

BEWARE

This Company is a scam, they don't fully inform you of their gimmick! And due to not receiving payment yet, they have called our office 15 times in the last hour!

Ink Cartridges

This Company Does NOT Understand the meaning of "NO". They reach out and make it sound like their Ink is a deal without mentioning that they are a wholesale company and that you are buying it in bulk, they are just willing to send you a few at a time. They should make it known that you are signing up for a subscription, not accepting a promotion. After we received the 1st 3 cartridges, they call back a month later telling you they are sending another set, that they do not explain clearly in the first phone call. I told them repeatedly that we did not want any more sent, even hung up on them, and they still call back explaining they will be sending more, and yes they bill you for them as well. Do Not Accept anything to be sent to you from this company. Wished I looked them up sooner.
