Quite some time ago I purchased granite for a bathroom vanity from Granite Depot thinking that the price and selection would be better than the dealers on South Jason street. Granite depot uses their own installers which cut the slab in such a manner that a large crack was visible about 30 inches across the finished cut. The two porcelain sinks that I purchased were bonded to the slab backwards so that the sink overflow holes were facing the front instead of the back as is the case with all types of sinks so the ugly holes are hidden. When I contacted Granite Depot, they essentially said too bad, so sad. I hired another company to "fix" the crack by using an epoxy filler with a close color powder filler. That improved the crack by partially hiding it. For the sink overflow drain holes, I had to machine special perforated covers that somewhat match the sink color.

The bottem line is that I ended up with an inferior product and ended up paying too much. I suggest that if you are in the Denver area, visit the wholesale dealers on South Jason Street and hire your own installer from one they might recommend. The prices are much better per square foot also.

Horrible customer service/shoddy work

We are currently in a dispute with Granite Depot regarding kitchen countertops we had installed a few weeks ago. We inspected the slab that was to be used and saw no issues with it in the warehouse.

The same day of install I discovered two cracks. One in the bar area both on top and bottom. The second on the piece of slab beneath it. We pointed it out to the installers who spoke very little English and they told me to contact Granite Depot. When the installers we're getting ready to leave I wrote on the form they had me sign saying that the work has been completed that there were cracks in those two areas before I signed it and immediately called Granite Depot to see how they could rectify the situation. I spoke with the customer service manager Jennifer that day who asked me to take pictures and to email them to her and someone would get back to me within 3 to 5 business days. Well a week passed and I had to make a call to see what was going to happen. Jennifer’s response was that according to the pictures, the cracks appear to be fissures and that they could send somebody to make “repairs.”

My husband and I again reiterated that we believe that they are cracks as we could feel space between them as we ran our fingers over them and they were not at all smooth and did not feel a repair could be made but that they would need replaced. We agreed to have some day come over from Stone Crafters who Granite Depot uses to install and apparently is owned by the same owner as Granite Depot. We had someone come over this Wednesday and they filled in and sanded the crack. It did not look any different. They did admit that the upper bar area was cracked all the way through and could not be repaired but would need replaced.

When we spoke to Jennifer about the repair she told us that after speaking to her manager they would replace the bar area but would not replace the lower area as they insist it is a fissure. We also noticed a new crack that appeared after they made repairs to the other side of the counter top next to our stove that was not there before. We have made it clear that we would like those pieces to be replaced and they have told us they would replace the bar area but are not willing to replace the other part. Several phone calls over the past few weeks to the head manager Robie have gone unanswered.

We are currently waiting to hear from them as to when they're going to repair the bar area as they are trying to locate the rest of the slab that we had used. We will update once we receive a response from Granite Depot to see if they are going to rectify this situation or if we are going to court and the Better Business Bureau. Right now I would not recommend using them due to poor customer service and shoddy work.
