GEICO Reviews

On a recent Saturday, I purchased a Prowler 31 LX Travel Trailer ($31,000). O the day after purchase (Sunday), less than 24-hours after I had owned the trailer, A Geico Insured driver hit the trailer in the side at the front door. The driver was cited for careless driving. Geico sent an automotive adjuster (Thomas Kuehmeir) to work up the damages. Mr. Kuehmeir admitted at the time that he "zero experience with RV claims". His manager (and sorry I only have his first Name of Forrest) also admitted over the phone that he had zero experience with RV claims and that he would hire an independent third party adjuster and Geico would pay an Inherent Diminished Value Claim on what the inidependent adjuster estimated with no negotiation.

A few hours later, Forrest called me back to say that there was no CARFAX report on my RV (this is not a motor vehicle) and that Geico would not pay anything on the diminsished value claim. He had no time to get an independent estimate and no access to the RV as it is located in a secure storage area. I called the Geico Claims number and was asured a senior adjuster would return my call within 24 hours. After not receiving a call back within the designated time period, I called Geico back. This time, the operator/claims handler informed me that "Florida is not a diminished value state; however, they would pay me $100 as a courtesy".

I realize it is not Geico's responsibility to expalin the law to me; however, it is also not ethical for them to blatantly lie about Florida Isurance Law. Florida allows for diminished value claims but puts the burden of proving dimished value on the claimant.

Geico has sent adjsuters with no RV experience (by their own admission), lied about obtaining and independent third party estimate, and lied about Florida Insurance law. This is at best, deceptive trade practices and Geico should be held responsible. As of now, I am left with a brand new $30,000 + RV that when I sell it, I will have to report that it has been in an accident.

Government Employees Inurance Company

Fraud, Lies and Decemption.

Their insured sideswiped my vehicle. GEICO wouldn't take a look at my damage. I sued their insured.

Their isured filed a $5000.00 counter claim with absolutely no evidence/bases to support it.

There is a exchange of cleat coat from my Cadillac on her BMW right front rubber wheel opening molding at the exact measured height and horizontal plane as all the damage on my Cadillac. (I verified it yesterday on the exact same Silver 2006 BMW X3 3.0)

3) There is no damage, not even a hair line scratch on any where else on the left side of my Cadillac including the height of the damage the GEICO estimate claims to be from this accident.

4) Geico's insured BMW was seen on 3/25 /2016 5 months since the accident.

5) My Cadillac was seen on 12/2/2015 4 days later, right after Thanksgiving weekend.

6) I feel the culpability is probably joint and several.

7) The Counter Claim, Deductible & Court Filing Fee Geico's insured is claiming is Horse s**t!!

Bad faith, Deception, Unfair claims practices & fraud.

My advice is stay as far away as possible.

The reason they have a Lizard in their ad, I think they are a bunch of snakes. in the grass!!!

Houston was on the news for a series of floods last year. My car was parked next to a garage where the water came up to over my knee. The six garages doors were bent in and I took pictures of the sheet rock. When I attempted to drive to an appointment 2 days later the odor was overwhelming in my vehicle and it sounded like a motorcycle.

I took it to around the corner to a detail shop to get my carpet shampooed. The employee stepped back and informed me my car was a flooded vehicle. He then said I needed $600.00 for the shampoo. I immediately realized why my normally quiet Acura sounded like an 18 wheeler. I immediately called Geico.

I had it towed to my mechanic. 2 weeks it sat. Then they simply replaced the carpet. I took video of the water that was in the vehicle and the water line outside the vehicle. Then I had video of where it was parked. AND I complained how it sounded and drove. The adjuster did not drive it, she started it up in a parking lot full of hundreds of other vehicles and deemed it driveable.

Three weeks later I had my car back. It stunk. It sounded bad. My mechanic was paid a couple thousand dollars and I had my 18wheeler back. I drove it across the street to sell it. And what do you know? Bad Car Fax. Flooded vehicle. I owed 12k on it they said they would pay me 6k for it.

So as I type this I have a car outside I am paying two cars worth of notes for. I complained to the adjuster, her supervisor. I called Geico corporate. I spoke to over 20 people who all played games. So now I am with Amica where I pay in a year where I paid in 6 months with Geico. When I called to terminate my insurance they had the nerve to say is there anything we can do to keep you as a customer? I told them to pay off the vehicle Im driving now. The the response was 'sorry to see you go'.

I filled out the form on thier website. I then called the number 800 947 2886. Spoke to a rep. She asked me a few questions, then gave me a quote of around $400.00. She then asked for my CC. I gave it to her. Within 1 minute the 6 moth policy jumped up to $5'75.00 I'm starting to get angry, but cose to take the hit.

2 days later, I recieved an email infoming me that some new info came up and my rate was going up another$185.00. I immedeatly called them and told the rep that I wanted to cancel my policy, which hadn't started yet. Thank God!They tried to talk me tnto staying with them. I said: Not a chance in hell. As I am writing this, I am waiting for a $675.00 refund I will probabley never see. At least for a while anyways.

I spoke with my current insurance company about this, They told me they have heard the exact same things that happened to me, happen to other people. They mentioned Progressive insurance, using the same practices. Beware of those colorful TV commercials. It's beem my experience that all they want is your money! Please be careful and good luck!!!!!!

I have tried to remove an individual from my insurance policy since last August. I have provided his California insurance card, California insurance declaration page and Veteran's Administration letter of VA insurance bill and medical appointments in Sepulveda, CA.

Geico continues to claim this is not sufficient to remove said individual from my policy, stating it does not prove he does not live in my household in Indiana. This keeps my monthly rate highter than it should be.

Said individual does not live in a mode that gives him a utility bill in his own name.

Geico continues to refuse my request. Said individual has even written to Geico himself on my behalf.

GEICO IS VERY, VERY DECEPTIVE AND CORRUPT. GEICO does not tell you that they will raise your rates EVEN THOUGH THE ACCIDENT WAS THE OTHER GUY'S FAULT!!! This happened to me TWICE within a nine month span. When I confronted geico about raising my rates even though both my accident's were the other guy's fault, the rep gave some idiotic lie that was obvious his bosses told him to say whenever there was a customer complaint.

Finally, I was able to sell my car. I told geico that they would make restitution to me or else I would no longer pay their corrupt outfit. So I never paid another premium. The thing is that geico has been getting away with this practice for decades and been concealing from the public. So much for the regulators: they do nothing. We get ripped at least TWICE: by the insurance company and our tax dollars pay the salaries of braindead bureaurats who do nothing and complain about how hard they work.

Another sad part is that, in the '90s, Travelers beat geico's rates and I went with them. When I pleaded with them in 2003 and 2005 to beat geico's rates again, Traveler's said it would be a long, long time before they could compete with geico. I doubt that seriously. So sad.

No, I did not use a credit card, but thanks for asking. Based on what I read here, geico STILL CHARGES YOU after you cancel, MAKING UP A LIE THAT THEY WOULD HAVE PAID IF YOU HAD AN ACCIDENT!!!! I mean, no one falls for that. It's even worse now. Used to be, if you had an accident, you could get your car fixed and they would charge the insurance company. Now, the insurance company drags their feet. THEY DON'T WANT TO PAY. WHAT!! When, with costs going way down with the use of computers, they make up LIES saying it costs them to insure you. Then stop insuring foreigners and stop giving them driver's licenses { and allowing illegals to drive illegally }. I feel sorry for drivers now. If you don't pray for protection, you will KILLED by an illegal immigrant or a muslim whom is driving drunk or on marijuana. AT&T does the same thing: STEAL from your bank using your credit card number and/or your social security number.

My friend, the same was done to me that was done to you. I have started riding a bicycle. The commonwealth and the insurance companies will burn forever in Hell. The states FORCE the insurance companies to demand your social insecurity number. Burn in Hell forever and ever ane ever.

In 2013, I was hit stop at a green light in the rear by an uninsured motorist. Both cars were damage and the uninsured motorist's car was impounded. The uninsured motorist was ticketed for driving on a suspended license and for not having valid insurance. I suffered a neck injury that required that I recieve extended medical treatment and pain management. I had $25,000 in medical insurance. I hired an attorney to handle the claim. Over the past 30 years I have only had two car accidents. The one that occured in 2013 and one that occurred in 2011. However, I was not insured by Geico in 2011. Geico lawyers refused to settle the claim stating that I had staged the accident. Geico lawyers suggested my damages were related to the accident I had in 2011.

The Geico lawyers deposed police officers and other witnesses attempting to prove that the accident did not occur. Geico lawyers even attempted to correlate my unemployment status with the occurrance of the accident. Even though, I informed the lawyers that I am unemployed by choice because I selected to care for my 94 year old mother and work on my doctoral degree. I am currently working on my dissertation. During the deposition and arbitration I was treated like a criminal not like a customer. I have never been in prison nor jail and have an excellent driving record. I have no history of deceptive practices Each month I pay my insurance premium for my automobile. But when I filed a claim for an accident that was not my fault, Geico treated me horribly.

Instead of fairly settling my claim Geico opt to pay three affluent arbitrators a maximum of $20, 000 each, in accordance with my insurance policy, to arbitrate my claim. The arbitration decision resulted $1500.00 settlement. I refused to accept the arbitration decision and informed my attorney that I will file a civil suit. The attorney that I hired was fearful of Geico and did not advocate effectively. Geico undervalued my claim and paid three arbitrators to bully me into a settlement. Geico used the policy arbitration requirements to force me to present in front of arbitration panel that they claimed was neutral and fair. In my opinion the arbitration process was unfair.

The arbitrators were paid by Geico and each arbitrator could charge as much as $20.000 in arbitration fees. My policy is on $50,000/100, 000 per occurrance. The Geico lawyer offered a settlement of $1,100 and the arbitrators agreed to $1500. This a joke and abuse of the arbitation system. 52 percent of accidents that occur are caused by uninsured motorists in most communities in Illinois. If Geico does not want to fairly settle uninsured motorist claims, Geico should stop offering uninsured motorist policys. I am going to address this issue with my U.S Senator. I know Geico is the third largest insurance company for car insurance but in opinion Geico is unfair and the company's unfair practices must stop.

This is going to take a while to write, so I apologize in advance.

My wife was rear ended by a Teen who was texting and driving. She hit my wife while she was sitting still at 45 mph. The teen who hit my truck, an 08 F-150 was driving a new Hyundi owned by her grandmother.

The driver's car went under my truck and pushed it from a dead stop 10 feet into another car. My wife was injured and has a cuncussion, whiplash, nerve damage and a list of other injuries.

The teen admitted to the police that she was looking down at her phone and texting at 45 mph and was just looking up at the point of impact. This is noted in the police report.

When I was in the emergency room with my wife, I caled the insurance company to verify the insurance information provided at the seen of the accident was correct. I provided all of the informaiton and the person on the phone verified the caller had called and admitted to being at fault.

I was provided with a name and phone number for a Geico Rep to contact the following day.

I called the number and left a message for the agent to call me the next morning. No call back.

A called again the following day........, same thing.

A 3rd call went un-returned. The 4th or 5th day, the agent called me and said an adjuster will come and look at the damage on my truck. They also emailed paperwork and related documents to us.

After 3 weeks, the adjuster had never once called and could not be contacted. At this point I began getting angry and wondered what I would need to do to get my truck in the shop for repairs? I called and complained again and finnally someone came to look at and take pictures of my truck. Then he dissapeared again. I called again and they finally had my truck towed to the shop THEY reccommended for repairs.

I went to the shop after it had been there over a week with no informaiton from them and was promised it would be repaired and it should not take much longer.

Another week went by and I decided to take a day off work to go see my truck and see what progress has been made. When I pulled up to the shop, my truck was sitting at the front by the entrance. Repairs still needed to be done.

I went inside and pretended I had not looked at my truck yet and asked them the status of it. They said it was done and getting a final QUALITY INSPECTION before calling me to pick it up.

That is when I told them I had just looked at it and it still had repairs needed. The front end has a Brush Guard on it that had been bent back from impacting the car it was pushed into. That looked like it had been pryied back and painted with a can of black spray paint. The 4X4 sticker was still missing on the side of the truck. The Class 3 Hitch looks like they bought it from a discount auto parts store. My wiring was just hanging underneath and the outlet box for my tow connections was completely missing. I looked underneath and the spare tire had never even been removed to inspect for any damage. The tailgate, spare tire and undercarriage are covered with battery acid from the car who hit my truck.

That was a quick 10 minute inspection of my vehicle. I had to stop at that point as I was not very happy. I contacted the adjuster and had him and the repair shop manager come and look at my truck with me. They both aggreed the repairs were not complete and addittional work was required.

6 days later I received a call that said the truck was ready for pick up. I called the repair shop manager. He said that was news to him. The insurance adjuster refused to approve ANY of the previously agreed on repairs. I told him that I was still coming down to look at it.

When I arrived the Geico Adjuster was right where I parked, looking at another vehicle. He pretended not to recognise me. When I told him I was there to look at my truck, he said I would need to go to the office. When I got to the office someone was expecting me. He took me to my truck apoligizing the entire way. The only thing that had been done to my truck was that the 4X4 sticker was now on the side. Everything else needed was still an issue. On top of the needed repairs, now the battery acid that they never even washed off was eating through my paint and nearly 1/4 of my spare tire is white and deterieorating because of it. When I looked at my truck, there are now dings all over it and also the passenger side mirror is broken.

Did I mention that no one from Geico had ever called me or my wife? Except for one call that was a message from the shop saying the truck was ready, no phone calls were received from Geico.

I went to see the adjuster who was in his office (Geico has an office inside the body shop they reccommended) and asked him what was going on. He acted completly clueless. He said that my truck would be repaired again and that he would call me the next day and tell me what was approved to be repaired. Again........ No Call.

Since this is the way they treat a simple auto accident, I decided to seek an attorney to represent my wife for her medical bills.

I have left out a lot of the damages and lies told to me by Geico Adjusters. I can't remember all of them.

Before my truck was hit by one of their insured customers, the only problem with my truck was a 1/2" scratch on the bed of my trucks drivers side. Now I am getting fed up and angry. It seems like they intenttionally lie to you to get you to accept either poor quality work or no repairs at all.

I will update this when I get my next visit with my truck......

I helped my son out last month and paid his car insurance with my debit card. He paid his own insurance with his own debit card this month and Geico took the payment out of his account and mine. I am not insured with Geico so I instantly called and spoke Courtney. She was very apologetic and admitted they owed me a refund. She called over to accounting and they also admit they owed me a refund.

And so it begins......they will refund my money but first they have to get on a 3 way call with me and my bank to verify the debit has posted to my account. Once they verify it then they will have to refund the money to my son since he is the one insured with them and then I will personally have to collect the money from him myself.

I have no understanding how a major known insurance company does not have the capibility to refund money to somebody's account that they took it from. That is the most obsurd thing I have ever heard. If you have the ability to deduct money from somebody's account then you have the ability to refund that money.

So....I get transferred to the manager Andrew who tells me this is their polocy. They have to refund the money to the person that is insured with them. They can not refund the money to me personally even though it was my bank account they took the money from. He says that's just how they have to do things.

Once again.....I still have no understanding. I AM NOT a customer of yours. You took my money without my permission. You owe ME this money and I want it back. Back in my account where you stole it from. Not back in somebody else's account. I don't care if that somebody is my son. It is my money. It is my bank account. You took it without my permission. Why should I have to go through loopholes to get my own money back?

And so.....they do not have a solution for me. Accounting is closed and that is their policy. If I would like to call back on Monday morning they will give my son my money and I can collect it from him :(

Geico insurance company continued to bill me after I closed my checking account. They have informed me that I am nearly 200$ past due because I would have been insured had I been involved in an accident.

I have since found a local company that has a real human answer the phone to take care of business with no annoying answer machine systems.

I had been using Geico for my car insurance when I moved across town to a new home. I updated Geico with my home address, but when they updated my record in their computers, they omitted a number from my street address. Unbeknownst to me, they send you a letter when you move that essentially says "We heard you moved, we are sending this to your new address. If you receive it, let us know it is your correct address. If you don't receive it, let us know your correct address." But since they were mailing it to the wrong address, I never received it to tell them they had the wrong number of my address. They continued to charge me automatically deducted premiums for several months while they received back multiple letters. They claimed to have called but I never received any messages from them even though they had the correct number. Fast forward to several months later when someone speeding down the interstate slams into me. I call to have my insurance company fight it out with their insurance company and I am told that my insurance has been cancelled because they could never verify my address that THEY wrote down incorrectly. Even though they had just deducted my premiums so I was unaware there was a problem. And the other insurance company refused to pay because "the owner of the car/insured person wasn't DRIVING the car" so I had to pay $2000 just so I could get to work. I filed a complaint with the California Insurance Department about what they had done and eventually Geico came through and backdated my insurance coverage so they would fight with the other parties insurance to finally take care of my car repairs but I am disappointed that this is how they treat service members and had I not filed a complaint, they would get away with this.

I got hit by a drunk driver. He did about 5,ooo worth of damage to my car but totaled another vehicle. He did not have enough insurance so I had to file a claim with Geico, my insurance company. They gave an initial low ball estimate that did not even have the correct parts listed. The body shop sent them a supplement to correct this. After several days with no response I finally got ahold of the adjuster who stated he never got the supplement. I sent him the email that showed it was sent a week ago. He then sent an email to the bodyshop to set up a reinspection but never showed up. I called the adjusters supervisor who had no answers as to why this process is so hard but assured me someone will reinspect the vehicle tomorrow. Very poor service, just giving me the runaround.

RE: unpaid GEICO claim# xxxxxx1046-01 -7/17/2011.

Vehicle: 1994 Chevy Lumina APV van.

Policy Number: 4120620002

ATTN: Tony Nicely, GEICO CEO

I live in Tulsa, OK. In 2011 at my remote office in Tempe, AZ, my 1994 Chevy Lumina APV van

was vandalized. The damage was mere cosmetic: windshield, headlight, turn-light, and hood. I

also had my other car, Lexus ES, vandalized/damaged as well. I immediately reported he

vandalism to the police and to Geico. I took my Lexus to an authorized Geico repair shop but

had multiple problems with the finished poor quali repairs. I was out of town for work until

Sept. 2012 to take the Chevy to a different Geico repair shop. I made an appointment with the

Geico adjuster. I flew into town on the appointment date o deliver the van to the Geico

authorized repair center (Bill Luke Dodge) and the Geico adjuster (Kristopher Carrasco) never

showed up for the appointment but a service rep took my info and van. I was told that the

repairs would take 3-4 days and that the Geico adjuster would call me. I had to rent a car

during he repair time. 10 days passed with no response from the Geico adjuster. I went to he

repair shop (Bill Luke Dodge) and was told nothing had been repaired and that the Geico

adjuster had "totaled" the car! The Geico adjuster avoided my calls. The next day, went in

person and spoke to him asking why he "totaled" the car for cosmetic damage and made me wait

10 days before I was told while renting a car. I was told "since it was an old car..." He

stated that I would be paid for the claim and since I had to wait so long that Geico would

pay my rental car for the 10 days.

The repair shop refused to do any work on the car due to Geico "totaling the car". I had to

take the van to another repair shop and wait an additional 4 days and pay for the repairs

myself in order to drive it back to Tulsa.

I never heard back from the Geico adjuster or anyone else! I never received a check, nothing

from Geico.

In 2013, I called Geico and had to explain the situation to see when I would get paid. I was

told that a Geico adjuster would call me back. Nothing! In 2014, again, I called Geico and

had to explain the situation again and tried to see when I would be paid. I was told that I

had to send car title to Phoenix, AZ and turn over my van to Geico if I wanted to be paid my

claim.

This was ridiculous! 1st- the damage was cosmetic in nature. 2nd- the van was in use. 3rd -

the van was worth over $3,000. I wasn't about give Geico my van in exchange for what they owe

me for a damages claim done to my van!

In 2015, 4 years later, I again called Geico and had to explain the situation again and tried

to see when I would be paid and was told that someone would call me the next day. 3 days

later, a (different) Geico adjuster from Phoenix, AZ called. I again had to explain the

situation and was told that I had to bring them my title and my van to be valuated in

Phoenix, Az before I will be paid. I live in Tulsa, OK. He didn't care!

I continued to pay insurance premiums for this van to Geico until Aug 2015.

Due to Geico's contempt for me and my old van and their lack of honesty I still have NOT been

paid.

I have paid all my outrageous high premiums on time, and in-full. I have made a valid claim for

damages covered by my policy (I had full coverage). Even after I made the claim (2011) and

brought it in for repair 2012, I continued to PAY their premiums for insurance coverage that

Geico is NOT willing to pay claims!

I DEMAND to be paid theis valid claim in full for the estimate done on 9 /20/2012, plus 4 years interest.

I need to be paid for the renal car expense for the 10 days Geico had my van in the repair

shop and while they did nothing with it and avoided my calls, stringing me along...

If Geico is unwilling to pay this claim that they are legally bound to pay, they need refund

my premiums for this vehicle.
