I was friends with Brett's dad and thus trusted them to pay back 16,000 dollars they borrowed to buy 4 elk permits in the spring of 2017. Brett represented he could buy them for 4,000 per permit and then in the fall sell guided hunts and double his money if I would loan him the money to buy them. I said I would loan him the money and he could pay me back plus 1/3 of profits. If he didn't make a profit he would still owe me the principal.
However when I started trying to contact them about repayment after I was sure the season was over he refused to respond to emails or phone calls and just didn't bother paying back or even explaining his reasons.
He lives in a remote area of New Mexico that I have never been to but his father tells me how much money he is making and how successful his guide business is. I assume it is very successful if he is able to steal money from people and then never pay it back. I see where he has built a nice lodge and has lots of new equipment, dogs, mules etc and travels a lot but just remember he will do that on stolen money.
He and his wife are thieves who come off as good ole boys who can be trusted but I can assure you neither of them can be trusted.
