They will provide false hopes (this is the perfect program for you, we will work with you through your pregnancy) and misguided information (those tattoos and stretched ears will be no problem at our school). Example: A hepatitis C student was allowed to join the medical technician program which required all students to practice phlebotomy "sticks" on one another, even after student had contaminated the room when accidentally sticking herself with a needle. Once they have your grant/loan dollars you are stuck in a program whose teachers are unprofessional, do not have proper credentials, and are unable (or just lack the education) to pronounce the medical terminology correctly. Fortis professes to be an alternative learning experience for adult learners but they don't take into account the needs of adults, especially single mothers when considering "non-paying" externships. I am a very disappointed former student.
