First Valuation Reviews

  • Dec 15, 2019

The report included a drive by the property to take photos and perform an evaluation of the value of the property. I performed the requested tasks, submitted a report which the acknowledged receiving.

I asked about payment and they said it woule be 60 to 90 days. We have exceededd that time frame. When I called to check up on payment, all the phone numbers that I had for the company had been disconnected.

I had been registered with Broker Price opinion for years and received a call asking me to do a BPO. Like an idiot, I accepted work from First Valuation. (new name). later when I checked them out on the interenet, I had a conversation with the rep who told me since the class action lawsuit was filed, they indeed paid - but it was 90 days out! No other company pays that far out. I was not getting many orders from my other vendors, so I took a chance. What a mistake! I was paid for my first 2 months, but not without some prodding. I actually traveled the miles to their ofice to pick up my first check. Fast forward - They are now 23 days beyond their promise date of 90 days and in total I am owed for another 4 months beyond that.

Here's the skinny. I plan to contact the Colorado Attorney general as I feel it is fraud, plain and simple. I do not know where it will go.

There was a class action lawsuit filed in 2014. There was an agreement (I don't think a court order ensued) to put money in escrow to pay and to pay all agents within 90 days. There is a hearing in Denver Federal court on May 18, 2018 at 2:30 PM. Unfortunately, it is too late to file a claim as that deadline passed before I started working (volunteering) for them. I plan to go, but know it wil be a waste of time. The lawsuit stated that Walter Coats, et al. was "unjustly endriched" by not paying agents. WELL, now with the court date looming Mr. Coats has his private home on the market. Here is interesting information. He is a licensed broker and his company is CARTEL real estate. That is the one giggle in this whole mess. I am guessing he is liquidating his assets and is selling the house to avoid liens. Is bankruptcy far behind - I think not.

Shame on me for being so dumb. Shame on them for being such crooks. Too bad we can't organize a "march on First Valuation"!!

I encourage anyone who has been shafted by them to file wih the Colorado AG. It won't get you any money, but it might end up getting the jerk jailed for fraud!

I actually came across this issue again when cleaning out my old emails and found a long thread of communcation with this company that does not pay as agreed. I had completed several broker price opinions in 2014 after being offered engagement letters with an agreed upon service and fee. My valuations were completed, delivered on time and accepted without revisions. I waited for payment which did not arrive. My attempts to obtain payment by phone and email with this company were responded with a pathetic response that they "are running behind in payments and please be patient". This is the exact quote: **"Please accept my apologies for the delay. Unexpectedly, we are still running behind at this time. Please allow me 72 hours to contact you back with a more current update. We hope you bear with us during this transition as we truly value your work; you will not be forgotten and you will be paid for all work performed."**

Several frustrating phone calls and emails with the same string along, and eventually they just removed me from their panel so I couldn't access their site with their logs of my completed work orders. (Not that I would have performed any further work for them).

I wish I had researched this company before completing any work at all. Do not work for this company. There was a lawsuit against them around the same time that I was attempting to collect their debt to me, which they appear to have wormed their way out of. Unbelievable that they still continue like this.

First Valuation Company Broker Price Opinion has lied, stolen and is very deceptive!

It's going on 2+ years, and I am still trying to get payment on work orders I completed for them. I spent many days on the phone leaving messages with the accounting department, along with sending emails, just to hear the same lies.

Recently, the account payable employee said, she processed 1 of my checks and it would take 5-6 weeks. My reply to her, it's going to take 5-6 weeks to get paid when it's been 2+ years...I am quite sure the companies paid you for the work I did. I am so tired of this company lying and giving me the runaround.

If there is an attorney that will take my case please contact me.

I was contacted by an employee of First Valuation aka Brokerpriceopinion.com back in August 2015; with a request to complete three (3) commercial valuations in Baltimore City. Prior to acceptance of the work; net pay total $800.00 and estimated pay date (45-net) was discussed.

All work was completed, uploaded, and approved in their system on or before September 29, 2016. Accounts payable employee became argumentative once proofs were sent as requested for payment. As of today there has been no resolve.

I've done about 20 "BPOs" - Broker Price Opinions for this company...Brokerpriceopinion.com and firstvaluation.comI I simply can't understand why any reputable person would work for this company, owned by Walter Coats and managed by his daughter Brandy May. DO NOT accept BPOS for them. I have not been paid for ONE BPO i've done. When you contact them, all you do is leave messages or send emails, rarely a response, but if Christine in the accounts payable dept DOES deign to respond, it's all empty promises. Their favorite tact is "Oh, I need an updated copy of your....E & O insurance, license, W-9, whatever. You send it in good faith and nothing happens. This company has deceptive and purposely misleading business practices. Here's maybe some helpful information:

I am a licensed realtor with longevity in the Real Estate Industry. I was performing BPO's for this company, and they paid me in the beginning. The payments stopped, and I would alwasy e mail and call to inquire. For over 2 years I am not only promised that a check "is in the Mail" but I even entered into a repayment agreement with them. They made 2 payments after I entered a payment plan with them. I know they were paid for my work, but I wasnt. Once I recieved these payments the payments stopped again. This company owes me close to $2500.00 which at $35-$70 per job is a lot of work on my part , a lot of travel on my part, a lot of research on my part. I deserve to be paid, and not just given empty promises. I would love to know how to pursue them legally.
