Express Van Line Reviews

I used a website that claimed that movers will contact you and bid for your business. First, i was contacted by a company which identified as savannah van lines. This one is solely dedicated to express vanline. Although the savannah agent indicated they would be doing my move and quoted me $4,700 over the phone. One shady-looking character from express vanline showed up at my house on the day indicated. After a brief walk-around, he told me i had too many things and instantly increased the price to $8,800. Then he said the truck they had did not have enough room to move me on the correct day. Then, i told him i was driving from az to md to relocate my dogs as well. He said that the truck would be in md in three days, which i found very suspicious, and if i took more than that time to get there, i would have to pay an extra $650 for the driver to "wait" for me. This raised the price to $9,450. Anyway, after agreeing to this complete rip-off, i was told that a suitable truck for my move would be available the next day. The next day came and this shady character named alex returned with about six day workers he picked up outside home depot and told me they had to pack our things. These individuals were completely careless with our items and the house for that matter. After they left with our belongings, my wife had to patch and repair the many dings and scratches they caused to our walls. Finally, the truck arrived n the day we were told. Only two guys showed up to unload our belogings. I forgot to mention that in arizona, the alex character told me that they would not move our things unless i signed a document releasing them from any insurance claims we might have in case our belonging were destroyed or stolen. He even had the audacity to suggest i call my homeowners insurance and ask them to cover our belongings in case "they" break our property. Now, let's cover the unloading. As soon as the truck arrived i noticed a piece of furniture set aside and covered with a blanket aboard the truck. I took the liberty of uncovering it and discovered one of my bookcases completely torn to pieces. As more items were unloaded, we found more damaged furniture, torn boxes, and even a missing table top. The company completely washed their hands of this and reminded me that i signed a release agreeing only to 67 cents per transport pound. I am hoping that this report would prevent other innocent victims from falling pray of this horrible rip-off scheme. My advice to all is, if you need to move across the country, please contact a "local" reputable moving contact with good reviews and do not ever trust websites that state moving companies will bid for your business.

I was looking on line for reputable moving companies to move from Tucson, AZ to Elkton, FL just outside of St. Augustine. I was planning on moving in mid Feb. 2016, but my landlord had a tenant for the house on Dec. 1. I had a few companies give an in-home estimate for packing and unpacking for a little over $4,000. I got an e-mail entitled "piggy back" move stating that Express Van Lines had a truck going to Gainsville, FL and the price would be cut in half. They asked me for an inventory sheet of everything I would be transporting. I filled out the inventory sheet and I was given a price of approx. $1700. Since I am a senior citizen on a limited income, that sure sounded good. They stated that the truck would be leaving on Nov. 27, the day after Thanksgiving. I had to add another flat screen tv (small) and 2 small lamps that I forgot. I sent them a deposit thru paypal of $1,000 and the remaining $700 was to be pd on delivery. I got a phone call from Jason with a sob story that he didn't want his men to miss having Thanksgiving with their family and the truck would pick up my stuff on Sat. the 28th. I changed my flight and it cost me $295 for the flight change which Jason said he would reimburse me for. I forgot my lease was up on the 27th of Dec. I got a new "binding estimate" of $4918. They also changed the date to the day before Thanksgiving so I had to stay in a motel from Wed-Sat. I asked why the price went up so much and they said it was no longer a "piggy back" move sinc the dates were changed. They changed the dates-I didn't. I had already given them a deposit of over $1,000. When they came on Wed. they asked for the remaining over $3,000. I said I didn't have that in my checking acct. and wouldn't leave with my stuff until they had the money so I post dated the check for Dec. 2 when the money would be in the bank. They cashed it on Nov. 30 and of course it bounced. So, I also had to pay over draft fees. When the arrived with my stuff, they demanded US Poxstal money orders or cash. I only had bank money orders. I had to go back to the bank and get cash and they kept adding more money to the price. I paid more than $500 over the "binding estimate". My computer desk and chair were totally broken and some items and they said they would send me a claim form. I called twice and they never sent a claim form. I also paid for them to unpack which they originally said they would. After they got their money, they left with my living full of boxes, my furniture not in place and my bed not put together properly and of course, I never got the $295 for the change of flight. I was totally scammed and I warn everyone to never use this co. They are nothing but liars and cheats!
