I needed a Thermal Fuse for a gas dryer. I was doing a favor for my girlfriend and needed to get the dryer going.
I diagnosed the problem and began calling around for parts. At first i thought it was the coils. I called Eagle Appliances in Soldotna and got a price quot on that part at 35.00, I thought that was high but said ok. Then I took a second look at the dryer just to be sure and found that the thermal fuse was with out a doubt burnt and no good. So i called Peninsula Appliance repair and asked about the thermal fuse. He said that they did not cary them and that i should check the internet.
But i needed the part right away so i called Eagle Appliances and asked if he had the Thermal fuses for dryers. He said yes he did. I asked about their hours and said that I would be over to pick it up.
When I got there he had the package laying out with a 35.00 price written on it. I asked him about the price and said it seems high cause its just a fuse. He insisted that it was not just a fuse but a special kind of fuse.
In my own mind i weighed my need for the dryer part and the price. So i said ok and bought it.
In the back of my mind I was thinking that i would check the price online today. So this morning i looked up the part on Amazon and was shocked to see 4.55 thats four dollars and fifty five cents to 5.55 or even 7.00 per fuse.
He has been inflating his parts prices 600 %. And that was just me. How many other consumers has he been doing this to and for how long.
I am going back today and asking for some of my money back. Im tired of these kind of people and im not going to put up with it any more.
