Dropbox, Inc. Reviews

I had only transferred a few files via dropbox more than five years ago. What it never said in its material was that they were been a transfer 6000 of my files which had never been transferred before via dropbox into a new directory for dropbox. When I deleted the dropbox app for my computer I discovered after the fact that the files in my main directory had also been deleted even though they were never previously the subject of a dropbox transfer.

Thank goodness I had Backblaze as my backup program and was able to fully restore the deleted files. Anyone who gets an email from dropbox offering to load their program on your computer free should delete the email and instead use programs that provide the same function currently from Google or Apple which don't involve "hijacking" your files. Based on this experience I would suggest that no one ever do business with dropbox again

I tried to save a picture of the advertisement, but could not get it to work. Note: I have never had a problem taking a picture of a web page previously. Please read the following email I wrote to Dropbox when they sent me an email saying the following: Hi Bill, This email is a confirmation that you've deleted your Dropbox account. Your files are no longer on Dropbox, but we haven't removed them from your computers. We're sad to see you go, but hope you'll come back in the future! If you've got any feedback for us, please let us know at [email protected]. Thanks,

- The Dropbox Team NOTE: I have to retype this text from my email because they have made it impossible for me to copy or forward my email to anyone by including the following addresses in BCC and FROM addresses on the email causing any forwarding or copying to not work: "[email protected]." Also the address given in their above email does not work: "[email protected]" which is where I tried to send the following text: "I just want you to know that I consider my experience with Dropbox one of the worst I have ever had with any software vendor in my entire life. I thought Dropbox was a legitimate organization. I suspected a problem right from the beginning when I clicked "install Dropbox" and immediately all of my files are being uploaded. I don't remember ever agreeing to that. Then after about five minutes of uploading, I get a message that "Your Dropbox Cloud storage account is full, do I want to upgrade?" Then I find out upgrading is going to cost me $9.95 per month. What the hell! is all I can say. I immediately decide to uninstall Dropbox from my computer and get the message that "All of the Dropbox linked accounts from my computer will be permanently deleted." What the heck! I honestly feel like I have tangled with a virus, not a legitimate company. Now I discover that I still have Dropbox issues when today I try to download a Zoom Cloud file and my computer says, "Cannot find C: User>Bill>Dropbox to download to. This file is either deleted or moved." Not only that but most of my data and picture files have already been deleted and even my Zoom desktop icon has been deleted but still appears. What the heck is going on???? This all even happened before I logged into Dropbox this afternoon just to see if my Dropbox account still existed after I uninstalled it from my computer and sure enough it did. Despite the warning about losing all of my files, since I already did anyway, I immediately clicked "Delete my account." Now just a few minutes ago all of my desktop icons disappeared. Luckily for me I went into my trash file and was able to recover them all. This type of thing has never happened to me in my life. Oh yeah, when recovering these files I found another Dropbox folder and at least 40 files called "Dropbox Business Files." I deleted them all. If I need to do anything else to get rid of all traces of Dropbox on my computer, I think you had better let me know like immediately. I have uninstalled Dropbox and deleted the c:User>Bill>Dropbox folder and deleted my Dropbox account from your web site already. All I want now is to be completely free of your company. If one more bad thing happens to my computer due to "Dropbox," I am going to go on a social media rampage to cause you as much grief as you have caused me. I am sincerely sorry I ever reacted to your advertisement." Oh yeah, it is interesting to me that they make a claim that all of my files have been deleted from the Dropbox Cloud account, but not from my computer. Well if they were not dropped from my computer, where are they? By the way, I had not even written to them at that moment, so how would they know I was going to accuse them of deleting my files despite they fact that their company said exactly that would happen. I feel definitely that I was being blackmailed to upgrade and with everything that has happened, I know I was. After the experience with their so called "[email protected]," I am doing exactly like I promised. I am going to spend full time writing to everyone I can to explain why I feel so aggrieved with their company. I don't like spending my time this way, but I don't think anyone else should have to have this happen to them either and I sure wish someone would have taken a stand before I did so it wouldn't have happened to me. I hope your organization is able to put a stop to Dropbox doing any further business anywhere. This is ridiculous. I will help in anyway I can and I am saving emails proving the above statements and everything else I can to help.

Ordered dropbox as a free trial and cannot cancel. Ordered directly from Dropbox and paid via ITunes. ITunes say because I didn't order through them have to cancel with firm I ordered from. Dropbox will help me via chat as I don't have a premium account but have told me cannot cancel my subscription as have to go to the developer but I don't know who that is. I've tried e-mailing Dropbox but they do not return my e-mails. This appears to be a scam where you sign up for the free trial and there is no way to cancel at the end of the trial period.

Dropbox kept my files for 10 years. All of my business files from 2 businesses, and all of my children photos and now will not let me access my files or dropbox account.

10 years ago I started using dropbox.com as my file cloud storage. I started, ran, operated and sold 2 businesses. I also had two children... All of the documents and pictures from this 10 year time period were on my dropbox.com account. I was feeling comfortable that my documents were safe in the cloud. Between selling the 2nd business I moved into a an area with a new phone area code. I started to use my dropbox account less and less for file storage becaues I was no longer running that 2nd business on a day to day basis and I knew it was ok because my files were supposedly "safe" with dropbox.

Eventually since I had moved to a new area I updated my cell phone number to reflect my new area code. A few months later my laptop was damaged and I lost access to my laptop, went out and bought another one. I was feeling pretty good that I could just login to dropbox and do a selective sync of the files that I needed for my new current situation. But I could not login to dropbox.com It was set up with two factor authentication and I could not get past it. I could not get an incoming text because I had changed my phone number. I still had the same email address, I knew the User Name and the Password, I have a legal name of the dropbox account that matches my state drivers license and passport. I may even still be using the same debit card. All of these verificaton methods and options were presented and discussed with dropbox at several times with their extra poor quality support team. They would not accept any of them. I tried to communicate and work with support 3 different times to resolve the problem. I had a similar problem at one point with facebook.com and they just asked me to upload a picture id and then I was able to reaccess my account. Not with dropbox. They dont have a process for it. I am going to have to file a lawsuit against dropbox just to access my files back again. I dont have a choice as I have tax returns that I need to file for these businesses and these images and videos that I thought were safe from 10 years of my childrens childhood are now locked behind a cloud that I cannot access. They are being 100% unhelpful in getting me access to my dropbox account. The three times I tried to work with their support team they told me different stories each time. They said that I setup a 10 digit pin when I frist opened an account with them, however my account is 10 years old and I was not offered to set one up - this was before they had this practice. The dont have the process for account recovery so they are saying thats the end of it those files are gone to me, but this is not acceptable and frankly I have to keep pushing even to a lawsuit because I have to file the coroporate return for that second business and I have no choice.

I took some photographs and wanted to share them with my daughter so I agreed to a free trial. Knowing that I never used Drop Box in the past, I did NOT agree to any membership fees. I was under the impression that I was using a free account (as my daughter uses one for her school) so I exchanged some photographs this ONE TIME!

Now, I get an email that I was charged $750.00 and they took the money out of my bank account. I have rent to pay and groceries - My MONEY IS GONE!!! Please DO NOT GIVE DROPBOX your information. I would NEVER EVER agree to pay $750.00 for icloud service as I am a single mother who works for a paycheck. I sincerely hope that this does not happen to anyone else.

I am going to seek legal representation through my co-workers as I work for a law firm in Los Angeles. I hope that this helps prevent this from happening to anyone else!!

Have been a dropbox user for at least 5 years. After an honest mistake on my part, unknowingly signing up for a business account I have been charged $750 with no way to recieve a refund. This "business account" was never used. There is no customer service to speak of. They have plenty of people in sales but NO ONE in billing. The billing department, if you want to call it that, only communicates via email and I'm not entirely sure that it is not automated. After, a dozen emails to every "department" at dropbox I was sent an email stating that I would have to contact my bank to dispute the charges. If you are in need of a cloud service I would stay away from dropbox. There are dozens of these services out there to choose from. Do your research and be very careful what you click on.

If you're looking for an online storage or file sharing solution DO NOT choose Dropbox. Dropbox.com is the worst business solution software on the market for online storage or file sharing. I warn you, don't do it.

They do NOT have any kind of customer support. Even if you PAY for the account storage, you will never be able to get anyone to help you with anything on customer support. The only thing you can rely on is help forums and searches to find answers to your questions. I was never able to reset my password after using Dropbox.com for 2 years. Even after cancelling the payment on the service, they never even bothered to contact me to help me reset the password on my account. What company provides an online service and doesn't have ANY kind of customer service? Dropbox is known for it's terrible customer service so do some research on this topic and you can see for yourself. Dropbox.com is a total ripoff, don't go there.
