Contacted Doubleclickittfixit via email for estiamte on repair of a Macbook Pro Logic board. It was missing the two sockets for the fan and a torn cable for the trackpad. I outlined the problem in the email. He teturned the email with an estimate of around $127. I then submiteed a request for repair on his website and sent the board to him. Over a week later I get a email with a PDF file containing his estimate which was tripple what he told me in a email. I then asked him to return the logic board, I would pay return shipping.

He replied that i should look at the contract. What contract? Somewhere in the fine buried in the fine print on his website is a $50 charge for diagnostics. Note that he does not take credit cards or PayPal, only checks. He said I had to pay the $50 or he would ruin my credit. I told him I was not going to send a check as I didn't trust him. I then found out his BBB rating is a F, and that he had been conficted of the same type of offense before. I then filed a complaint with the local Police, and the Federal Trade Commision.

He now has my logic board for my laptop. I had taken the laptop previously to a repair location in my area and the looked at it for Free and told me what it needed. Mr. Howell also claimed it need a capacitor that came off. The board was packed carefly and no capcitor had come off. He refuses to return the logic board. It also had 8gb of ram on it, worth more than is $50.

James Howell has stolen my property. I really think you should read the reviews before sending him anything. He will make you pay to get your laptop back if you don't have them fix it for you.

Deceitful, Underhanded, and Shady

Consistent with MANY other reviews of this guy, he operates in an underhanded deceitful manner. Please do yourself a favor if you are reading the - STAY AWAY. I am out $150 and while not the end of the earth by any means, he needs to learn that these under-handed business practices cannot continue. And that there needs to be a price for attempting to operate this way.

Sent james my a1286 macbook (2011 model) on 7/10/2015, plus or minus a few days. Almost immediately began having problems with Really suppressing my anger) this - what i know now to be a - fraudster, james. He overcharged me based on his own words in his own contract, and would not make it right. I let him go ahead in spite of that An overcharge of about $60 or so, and i can prove it).

Just received the unit back today (9/21/2015) after many, many emails and phone calls. No communication unless i initiated it, very poor - actually terrible - customer service at all. The box i received today had virtually no packing inside so the macbook was flopping around inside He dismissed that by saying that he had no control over that and i would have to place a claim with usps). It was one of those special rate usps boxes - and you could squeeze the box and feel the hard metal of the case of the macbook - i mean, there was literally no padding inside, with the exception of a small piece of bubble wrap, probably 8" x 8".

Then the unit itself was dead and all dirty when i received it, like it had just been left on the shelf for the last 2 months. Looked like someone spilled something on the one remaining fan See picture i attached). One of the (2) fans inside was totally missing!) and at least one screw was missing inside. Words cannot describe the evil and lies and deception that come out of this guy's mouth. He is slippery and won't accept any responsibility for any of his actions - it is always you or something or someone else, never him or his cohorts If any). He lied to me over and over in emails about the progress of the repair Yes, we just shipped it out yesterday, or we're waiting on a part) - was lying through his teeth. He told me initially that it usually takes a week for most repairs and he told me that most repairs averaged between $75 and $200, which was a joke. And then he blamed me for any problems that i drew to his attention. Wow. I am a professional it tech - this is a first. I thought i would try this repair shop - what a mistake. I have all emails between myself and this guy, if anyone is interested, would be glad to provide them. Perhaps you can avoid using this company and save some of your hard-earned money!
