DiscoverReady Reviews

  • Mar 26, 2018

Discover Ready is the lowest of the recent wave of exploitive scam companies to descend upon Florida offering Attorney Document Review positions. Discovery Ready’s reputation is so poor that they must seek alternate companies to handle their staffing. They have a 1.9 rating on Indeed and only 18% would recommend the place to a friend. Their current project starting in Fort Lauderdale and now in Tamarac (middle of nowhere), started with Beacon Hill, but the project was stolen by Mainspring Legal d/b/a Lateral Link, Bridgeline Solutions and most recently Candence Counsel. This web of d/b/a’s is the only way Mainspring can staff projects due to such a poor reputation.

Some out of the loop people may say that attorneys are educated and can take care of themselves. Though unemployment rates maybe at a low in our country, it is not such for attorneys.

Attorneys are experiencing disproportionally high rates of unemployment and forced to accept whatever comes along, despite the conditions. These companies target the economically vulnerable unemployed with hundreds of thousands in student loans who are residing in areas with a high cost of living. Movements have been attempted to unionize; however, the courts have not been receptive. Bar associations turn their head, claiming (willful) ignorance and do nothing to deserve our

dues. These companies especially target minorities such as Blacks and/or women, because they view them as alienated from resources to create change in the industry. The projects are managed by rednecks rotated biweekly from out of state. Three were told not to come back because of (1) blatant racist, anti-immigrant and homophobic statements, (2) sexual harassment issues and (3) too much partying. Do not let the Team Leader being a Jamaican woman fool you – she is a strategically placed token, who is an Auntie Tom, who lives by the term "Keep Clicking!”. Free parking is advertised with a false pride, but there is no security. Several people have had their cars towed and

broken into. When management was told about the matter, they were told to handle it on their own time and to "Keep Clicking”. There are occasionally weekend hours offered; however, this time cannot be used to meet the minimum 40 hours. Though they tell you there is a 40 hour minimum, they push for 60. If you work less than 40 hours a week you will be terminated, despite providing notice. There are frequent disorganized impromptu trainings, which if you miss or ask questions you will be terminated. There are insufficient restroom facilities – One men’s and 2 women’s stalls for what was initially 100+ people. Some men have been forced to urinate behind a dumpster.

The Air Condition frequently breaks and sometimes smells like something died in a vent. It has been 85+ degrees, but we are told to "Keep Clicking!”. There is a very high turnover rate, which explains why they advertise nationally under all of their aliases (how shady is that). Once you are exposed to a certain level of confidential information, you are deemed to be a security risk and are terminated with a insensitive insincere email sent late at night: "…your assignment with Discovery Ready has ended….We appreciate all your hard work on this project.”. If your document count is high, you will reach this level quicker. Due to having such a local poor reputation they are now forced to

advertise nationally for inexperienced people, even offering a small relocation stipend of up to $40. Where can you stay for $40? That is the price of a modest dinner out in Fort Lauderdale/Miami. Additionally, Florida is an "Employment at Will” State, you are employed at the pleasure of the employer, thus you can be terminated without cause. Imagine spending all that money to relocate, only to be shortly terminated and stranded in a city with a high cost of living. The work place is a clandestine fire hazardous sweat shop. You are provided a work space of a few square feet, regularly bumping into and smelling your surrounding co-inmates. There are wires and extension cords

running everywhere. Several people have tripped some resulting in emergency room visits and pending law suits. As of the time of this posting, neither the Fort Lauderdale or Tamarac locations had municipal business licenses of the project locations. They offer $23 an hours and they say that $23 is it, but some are paid more. Asking around, some are paid $25.00, but it is hush hush. During a recent staffing meeting it was raised that locations in other states are paid more for the same work. The representative attempted to pass the buck, blaming others and claiming we are getting greater than the local industry standard. These people were gone a week later. They are

big on what category you list your hours for billing purposes, because they are paid more for certain work, but you are paid the same. Though we are told over and over again not to take the materials home, many have and have made copies. Additionally, many have taken pictures of confidential materials on computer screens using their cellular phones. Both with plans to provide the materials to CNN and or other news outlets if they were fired.
