Discount Cab Reviews

I have to say it appears as though Discount Cab is not interested in being a Taxi company in Tucson. There is no other way to describe their behaviour, in looking back 100% of my rides with them have had what has to be intentional problems.

Here is the list of recent and prior experiences in no particular order at all:

1) I arrive at Tucson AZ Amtrak and call Discount for a ride. I get three call backs over the course of 45 minutes asking me where that is. If 3 things a cab company in Tucson knows it is locations of 1) Airport 2) Greyhound 3) Amtrak. A cab arrives in the lot and then drives right past me as I wave at him, he then parks a block away saying he did not know where Amtrak is. I told him he just drove past me and it. This overall looks rash and lame, purpose of this set of lies is? Who knows.

2) Book a ride for travel from a local Tucson hotel one evening, driver arrives and phones me.

I go down to the lot to meet him and he all but hits me with the car forcing me to jump out of the way.

3) Book travel from another local hotel for travel. Person on the phone is mumbling and rambling on in some kind of incoherent and unintelligible gibberish. The automated outgoing voice prompts are in some kind of mumbling tone with a thick british accent. I get a text message one hour later telling me that my ride has been cancelled. I phoned them back asking them why and they claim computer problem, they book another ride and I wait more. I get a text message saying ride is booked and another one later telling me cab is out front. I go down to the lot and see no cab and call again. This is now over 2 hours from the first booking time I made with them. Then I get asked more questions about where I am at etc, and I say sorry, NO cab here. They tell me they will book another one. NO text message to confirm etc, I call another cab company and am gone in 5 minutes or less.

4) I ask to have a ride from an apartment complex in Tucson and ask driver to meet me at lot entrance and to phone me when they arrive. They stop at rental office and phone me and I need to tell them to meet me where I asked them since I have bags to carry and this is too far away.

5) I book a ride to a local apartment complex in Tucson and ask to be dropped at the office. The driver wants to drop me out front.

So, this tells me that Discount cab is in the mode of getting it all 100% wrong 100% of the time and that they don't want to do business in Arizona. I suggest you and others run them out of town.

This was all intentional.

If you decide to drive a cab for Discount, you must sign a contract which includes the following:

"LESSEE acknowledges that COMPANY has not made any representation as to whether or not LESSEE'S operation of the vehicle will be profitable. LESSEE further acknowledges COMPANY has warned LESSEE that LESSEE may not make a profit by the operation of the vehicle. "

This clause in the contract covers their butt when making decisions that ONLY benefit the company and not the driver. Discount has now gone to having a training class EVERY DAY. They flood the streets with cabs. This way they make more money but drivers make less money. A further benefit for them is better service they provide to to the dial-a-ride AHCCS(state of Arizona welfare system) disabled people(which make up 75% of Discount's taxi business). Discount will make $5-6 million per year from this AHCCS contract and pay the drivers(who do all the hard work) about $300.000 TOTAL.

Do yourself a favor. Don't drive for Discount Cab. It's a scam. They will exploit anybody who walks through the door.

There's a reason they've gone through over 4,000 drivers in the 22 years they've been in business here in Tucson. They don't care about drivers. Yes it as as simple as that. You've been warned.
