Dezzy's Second Chance Animal Rescue Reviews

  • Dec 4, 2019

I was a volunteer. The animals are kept crated most of the time. The ranch is not what she claims it to be. The dogs all need to be walked on a leash. The property is large, but no fencing. What really happened to the deaf dog Freddy is still a mystery. She changed her story each time I asked her.

I stopped volunteering several months ago because she keeps taking in more dogs and thinks that no one will care for them like her. That is a hoarder's mentality. I moved on and now volunteer somewhere else. Much happier. I still can not get those dogs faces out of my mind. Her whole getup is a facade.

WHERE AM I GOING WITH ALL THIS? THIS RESCUE GROUP LIED TO ME ABOUT THE DOG'S BREED, THEY LIED ABOUT THE AGE (HE HAD TO BE CLOSER TO 14 THAN 4), AND THEY LIED ABOUT HOW "FRIENDLY" HE WAS. I COULD HAVE DEALT WITH ALL OF THIS AND KEPT HIM EXCEPT WHEN HE GOT SOMETHING WHICH COULD BE SPREAD TO MY OTHER DOGS. TWO DAYS LATER SANDRA HAS THE SAME DOG LISTED, JUST AS BEFORE AND HE'S STILL SICK! PLUS, SHE MADE A NICE PILE OF MONEY OFF OF ME. MY FEELING IS THAT THIS WOMAN IS MERELY RUNNING THIS RESCUE AS A WAY TO PAD HER BOTTOM LINE. HER LITERATURE SAYS SHE NO LONGER DRIVES A BENTLEY & A MASERATI. THEY ARE BOTH LONG GONE. SHE NOW DRIVES A BANGED UP FORD VAN WITH 110,000 MILES ON IT. THAT IS A LIE. SHE DRIVES AROUND IN A BRAND NEW MERCEDES.WHEN WE WERE IN HER SHELTER IT WAS STRAIGHTENED UP BUT IT REEKED OF URINE. JUST AWFUL. I'VE NEVER DONE THIS BEFORE AND I WAS REALLY PUT OFF BY THE WHOLE EXPERIENCE.

ARE MOST OF THE RESCUE GROUPS LIKE THIS, OR DID I JUST FIND A BAD ONE?

The Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer services says there appears to be more than $98,000 from the rescue’s bank account used for “personal expenses.”

The state found 960 debit transactions, including $34,050.99 on food and restaurant expenses; purchases at Best Buy, Bed Bath & Beyond and Bath and Body Works; $10,097.74 to pay off a personal credit card; $6,876.83 for car payments and $4,705.40 on insurance premiums.

The State of Florida says there was also a $30,000 loan from the rescue to buy a BMW registered to its president and almost $100,000 used for personal expenses.
