I purchased a motorcycle from Crystal River HD and the salesman talked me into a tire and wheel warranty, for which I paid $474. The funds were rolled into my vehicle loan, and received by Harley Davidson Finanace. The loan was subsequently paid in full. Imagine my surprize and dismay when I tried to use the warranty and I was told that it did not exist. CNA is the warranty company - they have no record of it, although I have the warranty paperwork, the contract number AND the receipt showing that i paid for it.
The dealership where I purchased the bike has since been sold and the current owners/management state that since they did not sell me the warranty, it is not their problem and they cannot help me. I contacted Harley Davidson corporate, who also told me that all of their dealers are "independent" and it is also not their problem. Hmmmm.....in order to sell the product you have to pay fees to HD corporation, so how is it that the dealers are completely "independent"? HD gets the money for the products they all sell. AND HD Finance took my $474. But they cant help me. Nice.
DO NOT PURCHASE WARRANTIES FROM ANY HARLEY DEALER, apparently they can pocket the money, never turn in the warranty, and hope that you do not ever have to use it. Everyone was more than happy to take my money for the bike the non-existent warranty, acessories, parts and service and clothing and helmets, etc....But now, its no ones problems and I am SOL.
Shame on HD for not supporting the end users of their product or vetting the dealers who represent them.
