Cruisedirect is the worst! Nothing they advertised was true. They put us in the worst room possible. Their customer service supervisors are cunning and deceitful. They solve nothing!

I booked a cruise on April 21, 208 at approximately 10:30pm then on Sunday April 22, 08 at approximately 1:05pm (14 1/2 hours later) I contacted cruisedirect.com via chat to discuss a lower price (by $199) I had found for the same exact cruise to a "T". It was same identical cruise ship, date, room category, etc it even included the same bonuses plus there was one additional bonus that was worth more than what I was getting. In addition it was well within the 24 hour period as indicated in order to qualify. I read the guarantee very carefully and not one thing was off in order for me to qualify.

The agent asked me to send a screenshot as well as the website link for the price I had found and that management would get back to me within 24 hours.

First the email address I was given was invalid so she had corrected that and it went through fine. Now I waited the 24 hours...no contact. So after 42 hours I decide to call them. First he made it sound like they had no record so luckily I had kept a copy of the transcript so he asked for me to send a copy of which I did and stated that management does not arrive until 9:00 am EST so they would review and get back to me.

Now he starts saying that after final payments due there usually was no guarantee and also that there was not any 24 hour guarantee policy...thats funny because I printed out right off the website their policy and right near the top it specifically states within 24 hours you have to call and there is not one stipulation in there that states anything about after final payment was due because it was within 90 days of sailing.

So of course they get back to me with "I'm sorry but management decided to not honor the guarantee but we will give you an additional $50 onboard credit"

Wow! talk about false advertising and not honoring their word!! I would definitely steer clear because if they are that worthless to not even honor their word on a price guarantee what else will they do??

I asked a simple question about whether I could book a back to back Alaskan Cruise on Princess from Vancouver to Whittier(Anchorage ) and then back to Vancouver. The company's response was it would be a violation of the jones act.

I questioned the response and was told that I would be flying home from Anchorage if I did such a booking.

Princess said the bookings were perfectly legal. The cruise starts in Canada and concludes in US. I would then return to Vancouver. Cruise direct told me that most back 2 back cruises are illegal. I cannot book back to back cruises that would start in one US city(Seattle) and the second cruise concludes in San Diego without visiting a distant port.

In in this case I can start out in Whittier , travel to Vancouver, and return to Whittier without issue. The itenerary starts and end in the same US city with a stop in A foreign port Vancouver.

These rules apply to foreign registered ships. It is complicated. A knowledgeable cruise agent would know the trip that I asked about was legal and is done quite often.
