I have witnessed the cruel and unimaginable effects of a church on my friend as she as her family have arrived here in Ohio after abandonment by her husband and subsequent homelessness. She and her 3 sons arrived here in Ohio and hoped to find home or a semblance of it. They, instead, found HELL. The church in which they attended proceeded to makes promises of help to the family, only they did not help. They denied the mother the right to atttend bible studies, told her she had to attend recovery groups made for her "situation". When asked why and told them (the elders) she did not want to do that they claimed they had prayed and God told them to do this, and then told her she had trouble with spiritual authority if she would not obey them. She told them she was diagnosed with PTSD due to the abandonment of her husband when she was sick (she has Progressed Lyme disease, cancer and migraines with aura) as well as her other maladies, but they have proceded to be cruel and bully her with neglect and spiritual abuse. She is sure she is at fault as they mentally abuse her, since she has PTSD and is mentally weakened and afraid. She came here to Ohio knowing NO ONE and is broken down by this occurence. Slander, gossip and spiritual bullying run rampant here. She is devastated by this ongoing behavior as she struggles for her life, and health. Her 3 sons are with her and are also suffering from PTSD, as they try to have the ability to normally progress. Can spiritaul abuse be prosecuted? Abuse of a vulnerable adult? I want to help her...............
