CORE Advisory Group Reviews

  • Nov 2, 2016

I had received an advertising card in the mail back in April 2016 from Core Advisory. I called

and askede many questions on how the program worked. I waited for a few months until I finally spoke with

Brian Boozer about my situation. He explained how these mortgage companies work and that they

are not trying to work with me just igoring my requests. I agreed to work with Core Advisory once I received the funds to

begin, which I was told $1500 + $125 for notary (by Robin Shephard). Well, I received a notice in the mail from a few investors that my house was up for foreclosure on Oct 4, 2016. I immediately called Robin Shephard on Sept. 5th to go ahead and start the process. She then stated that the price would be $4270 because I began the process late, which in turn, shocked me because of the sudden price increase. So, she arraigned for a notary to come to my house so that I can sign some paerwork. I thought it was strange that the paperwork was 2 pages and that the notary didn't stamp the seal in front of me. But, since I was desperate for someone to help me, I wrote Core Advisory 5 checks: $1500 up front, $125 (notary), and 3 post dated checks, $795, $925, and $925. After I paid, I waited for a few days and then I received an email from Tracey Hamm at the Advocacy Resolution Dept.

I was instructed to send 3 complaint letters: one for my local Congressman, one for Carrington Mortgage,

and one for HUD via certified mail. I received a response from Carrington and they stated that the letter

they received was a "cookie cutter" letter copied from the internet. I also received a letter from the

Texas Dept. of Savings and Mortgage Lending stating that Core Advisory was practicing illegally in the

state of Texas and that there was a cease and desist order on Nov. 2015. I called them and yes, they told

me that Core Advisory should not be practicing in the state of Texas, nor try to gain any clients for business.

This caught my attention and I did my research and found information pertaining to this matter.I was then

contacted by phone from Bob Allum on Sept. 30th and he told me that he needed my permission to speak

with a representative from Carrington Mortgage about my foreclosure date. He then called me back later

that day and told me there was some confusion with the mortgage company and the foreclosure attorney

about the forclosure sale date. On October 3rd Bob and I spoke again and this time we were on 3 way

with the attorney and Carrington. The attorney then explained that the sale date was for Nov. 1st and not

Oct. 4th which is what I could of done on my own if I did more research. It seems that nothing is being done

and that I have to call all the time to get an answer. Most of the time no one seems to answer their phone.

Only when I leave a voicemail they would call back days later. All I want is a refund of $1500 that Core Advisory took from me and for other people to be aware of Core Advisory.

Hi, my name is Lanette from Orem, Utah and I want to say that I am very disappointed and dissatisfied with Core Advisory Group svcs, LLC. From the very start I had my suspicions with this company but Brian Boozer was very convincing that I was doing the right thing by hiring them but that is not the case. I feel I was misrepresented and lied to. I have been divorced from my ex-husband for over 6 years and was awarded with the deed to my house after my divorce was final and part of the stipulations is that my ex-husband was ordered by our judge to maintain and keep the mortgage payments up to date but recently a year ago,

I found out that my ex-husband haven’t been paying on the mortgage for almost a year which was a breach to the court order. I ended up finding out when a realtor showed up at my house poking around taking pictures to prepare to foreclose on the property. What enticed me to contact Core Advisory Group is the mail advertisement I received from Core Advisory Group that promised to lower my monthly payments and possible principle reduction. The advertisement also mentioned claims that my lender was in violation and I was eligible to sue them so that was very appealing so I called this company to see what they can do to help me.

After I had agreed to sign up for their services, they would send a notary person to my house to sign paperwork which I paid separately to the notary company name US. Signings, which by the way this notary person did not stamped the notary seal in front of me but just collected the signed documents and a check that I wrote out to this notary company US Signings for $160. I also had to send a separate check for the loan modification service that Core Advisory Group was to provide to me in the amount of $3678 upfront so in total I had paid upfront almost $4000 to get help with my mortgage. A week after I have already issued them my money, I did some research and found some disturbing information about them that made me very uncomfortable and felt, they haven’t been honest or forthright with me from the very beginning so I contacted them to stop the service and return my money.

The owner David Clarke who later I have found out is just an alias and the owner’s real name is Devin Benter and google search shows him owning another company in the past by the name of Colleagues in Law which had legal issues with the State of Washington. Well the owner called me along with his representative Brian Boozer and the conversation with the both of them was even more disturbing as they refused to honor my request for a refund as I pointed out to them that it was illegal for them to charge me upfront to help me with my mortgage,

the both of them claimed that they are licensed to offer services in my state but that is not the case since their headquarter stated is in the same city and state that I currently reside in has no physical office as they claim they do. I might have been desperate at one point in trying to save my house is the reason I decided to hire them in the first place, but once I’ve found out that this company has lied to me and mislead me into thinking they are legitimate and can help me with my mortgage I tried to contact them multiple times with no success to talk to them and get my money back to only have to wait almost 2 weeks before they decided to contact me again.

I just want my money back in the amount of $3845 which included $160 towards the bogus notary person and I am not going to be their victim in this fraudulent mortgage relief scam.

I was given Core Advisory Group from a friend of mine.

Core told me they could help and guaranteed me they could save my house from a Foreclosure Sale, but I had to pay them $4,500 to make this happen and I did.

At that point I followed up with them weekly via Internet and never got solid answers from anyone??

Then I lost my house to a Forecolusre Sale and my Wife Freaked Out and we were on the Street!!

We contacted core advisory on June 4th after we received a card from Core in the mail, saying that they can help us. They said they can save our house and reduce our payment. They gave us an example of how they had helped others. So we felt like we should go forward and let them help us. Core directed us to Jonathan Pacheco using Sorenson Relay Video, because we are Deaf. Mr Pacheco explained to us how they helped so many people and never lose a case .Core had reviewed our case and told us they could save our home, otherwise we would have NEVER paid that amount of money. He guaranteed WE WILL NOT LOSE THE HOUSE. He explained the payment plan and how we could pay the full amount and save 10% by paying for both phases up front. Jackie's father Richard Byrns made a call to Jonathan Pacheco to insure that everything was working out and to feel confident that Core would do everything possible to help us keep our home. After that conversation we paid for both phases in the amount of $3,800.

From the beginning, we explained to everyone that we talked to that WE ARE DEAF. We can't talk on a phone. We told this to Jonathan Pacheco, Jonathan Ducharme, and Tracey Hamm. We are Deaf and the only way to contact and correspond with us is via email or make an appointment through the video on Sorenson Relay. We can not hear the phone ring and we can't talk on a phone. Texting, or email or setting up a Sorenson relay video call is the only way we communicate. They did set up an interview by giving us a time to watch for their call. So that time, we knew to be watching and waiting for their call. We also told them from the beginning, if they ever had an urgent reason to reach us to call Jackie's father Richard Byrns. He had all authorization to discuss our case and help to reach us since he is hearing and he could get us a message if there was any problem. We gave them his phone number to reach him if there was anything that needed immediate attention.

We told Core we would be out of town with my parents June 19- 27. To please contact us with a plan before we leave. On June 22, 2015, Tracey Hamm emailed to us "Rough Drafts are forthcoming. If you approve them your campaign will be executed today." we waited for his email with drafts but nothing ever came. Harry emailed him on June 26th and said "Morning... I hope everything is okay. I have not heard from you since Monday" Tracey Hamm replied on the same day on 26th"Everything is fine. Your rough drafts will be prepared this weekend. Few other files ahead of you that are taking longer than expected is all. Sorry for the delay." So as you can see their delay cost us one week of time and we did not have time to spare. On June 28th Tracey Hamm sent us the drafts to review at around 10:45 am and He said "I would like to file your on-line compliant(s) by 5:00 pm (pst), Sunday, June 28, 2015, so please respond expeditiously" . We replied at around 1 pm with revised letter and we gave him plenty of time because we replied well before 5 pm. He answered us at 5:26 pm with question about the revise and we replied at 6:23 pm. He did not reply till the next day on the 29th that he did revise the errors then we never heard from him again. So they did not file on June 28th like they said they would do. And because they did not contact us via email or call Richard Byrns. Our house was auctioned.

For some reason, they had July 2nd as the sale date when we said from the beginning it was July 1st. The letter we gave them from Citimortgage's lawyer was clear about the sale date of July 1st. So as you can see Core made another mistake.

Please note we told them and sent them the letter from Citimortgage's lawyer that the house would be auctioned for sale on July 1st They knew this fact from early in June. We sent them everything they needed including a copy from the Citimortgage's lawyer which stated the house will be for sale on July 1st. We did everything that Core asked us because we really want to save the house. Then on June 30 at appropriately 4 pm... someone called me via Sorenson on my phone and I missed it because I CAN"T HEAR IT and the phone call was an emergency... they did not even attempt to call my father Richard Byrns because it would have made a huge difference if they had. Then on July 1st, i got an email with bad news. Our hearts were broken... they told us that they did call us.. and I checked my phone.. it was too late!!! We paid $3,800 to save our home but instead we lost it because Core did not do their job for this case with Deaf clients. The fact that we are deaf and needed a special way to be contacted slipped through the cracks when it was so very important. Now our home has been sold !! To add insult to injury they told us because part of the agreement we had signed if our house is sold they would convert us to their eviction defense program but FAILED to disclose that there would be an additional $700 a month which these con artists already took $3800 from us already. Core advisory did nothing but put us in a worse situation preying not only the folks who are in financial ruins but not in a capacity to just pick up a phone and call around looking for help with ease due to our hearing impair would have to type every conversation so as you can see the horror we are going through.

Our hope is that something could be done to reverse the sale of our home. if there is nothing Core can do then we feel like Core should refund our $3,800 for an empty promise they could not honor. How can their owner Devin Benter live with himself knowing that he is profiting off folks who is struggling only to wind up losing their house because of the LIES, FALSE PROMISES AND DECEPTIVE marketing sales tactics that convinced us send them our $3800 which they FAILED and it is their fault for dropping the ball and not communicating with us and our lender before the deadline. We have already reported to our attorney general and other federal agencies. I would be careful to do any business with this company.

From researching deeper here is what I found out about Core, they actually have an F rating! http://www.checkbca.org/report/core-advisory-group-156268354 and suprise suprise it is the same owner Devin Benter that owns Colleagues in Law which has an F also. http://www.checkbca.org/report/colleagues-in-law-lc-100124491
