Content Equals Money Reviews

I also worked at Content Equals Money. I worked in good faith for a month and was never paid a cent! I am still owed $2500.

I did not learn that Amie Marse hadn't paid her staff for months at a time until the first payday rolled around and I got an excuse that the funds hadn't been released by the bank. I did a little research and found out that this was Marse's go-to tactic to avoid payroll. I have compared notes with former coworkers and they were all treated the same way. She owes multiple writers and editors tens of thousands of dollars in unpaid compensation.

At that point, I realized that I had been hired to replace the editors who'd quit due to nonpayment and that Marse hired me with the intent of never paying me for my work! She takes advantage of the remote nature of the business--the entire staff worked from home and were scattered across the country. As a result, employees can't communicate with each other as a group and call her out on her behavior until it is too late.

Apparently this is the third version of her company in about ten years. The first was in Florida, the second in Kentucky, and the third in Nebraska. Her M.O. seems to be to operate for a while then get into financial trouble, stop paying her employees, close the company, and move on to another state before she can be held accountable for her actions.

I really do not care what kind of sob story comes in rebuttal to this report. The simple fact is Amie Marse hired me to do a job, which I did in good faith, and never paid me for it. This is called wage theft. I estimate there are at least a few dozen people she recently has done this to, easily putting the total amount of unpaid wages into the felony theft range. The bottom line is that I and most, if not all, of her former employees feel that Amie Marse is a thief and needs to go to prison for a very real crime that impacted all of our lives.

Amie Marse (scam artist) is the owner of Content Equals Money, a content writing service that employed 22 employees in 2019. By March of this year, the owner blatantly refused to pay me and the rest of her staff for the work we completed, calling the situation a "cash crunch" and blaming it on the First National Bank of Omaha for freezing her account for 90+ days. (I called the bank and they explained that they wouldn't freeze an account for that long for any reason.)

Most of us (wrongly) believed that she would eventually pay us what she owed us, so we worked for 8+ weeks without a paycheck. Her lies kept coming as we waited and waited for our back pay that never came. Every week she owed us more and more as we continued to work, and every week she would dodge our questions and place blame on everyone but herself--- as she pocketed the money and our families struggled.

After I pressed a member of management with questions about the situation, this individual (who was also owed thousands) showed me screenshots of the company account. I was shocked to see that Scam Artist Amie Marse was transferring all of the incoming funds to her own debit card as she refused to make payroll! She was transferring thousands to herself and the transactions also showed lavish spending for limos, at bakeries, and at circuses. She owed me over $5k when I stopped working, and I know she owes the rest of the staff about the same.

I did more research into the situation and found that Amie Marse ripped off her entire staff in previous years as well. It seems to be her cycle.... and she's gotten away with it for years. She opens and closes the LLC under a similar business name and moves to a new state and starts all over! She has operated her fraudulent business in Kentucky, Florida, and now Nebraska. Her clients are falling for it, and so are the new writers and editors she hires to replace those who quit after they catch on to her scam.

Many of the former employees and I are working with a federal Department of Labor investigator to try to recover our backpay, but I wanted to write this report to warn others about Amie Marse and her history of scamming and exploiting talented writers, editors, and unknowing clients.

As she owes thousands totaling close to $100 grand in missing pay, reimbursements, benefits, and unpaid taxes, she has hired an entire new staff and continues to pocket the profits for herself.
