Consumers Digest Communications, LLC. Reviews

Consumers Digest has been operating a scam business for many years. It hires all kinds of outside "experts" (some are, some aren't) in different fields to spend months researching various products. The author is supposed to arrive at suggested Best Buy awards to be circulated in their magazine around the country. Here's the problem: the author does the work, writes a long article with all of the recommendations, and then is told to look at previous award winning companies and products and to reconsider his or her recommendations for these Best Buy awards, yet totally discounts all of the work the author has done.

They are fine with an author not seeing or testing products in person, and emphasizes that online research is good enough to arrive at a Best Buy award. When looking at previous Best Buy awards, the company emphasizes looking at companies that manufacture a huge amount of items vs. a smaller company that might make the best overall product in its class. One former employee talks about CD selling its logo to these companies that win awards, so bigger, or more profitable companies make for a better choice when offering Best Buy awards, I suppose.

No one seems to know the circulation of the magazine, but I do not know of one person who has a subscription. Moreover, many of the Best Buy products can't actually be found in major metropolitan cities. So why would they be given awards? There is no conceivable reason. The editorial staff (2 people) are nasty to the authors who disagree with their award recommendations. Not an ethical organization.
