Was contacted today out of the blue by a woman (Bethany) from the Cetral billing center in CA by the number 323-553-2833 stated that I owed over $700 to Readers Discount Center for an unpaid 24 months magizine subscribtion. I did sign up to a magizine back in 2011 (do not recall name of the company) but paid of all my dues and never resubscribed. I still continued to recieve magizines and called on numerous occassions using the info from the magizines to cancel and figure out why I kept getting them. Was told they where canceled and that I owed nothing and they would stop.

Still I recieve magizines to this day, constantly changing magizines from all sorts of companies even in my new home that I moved too. The collection agency states that in their report I signed up in 2013 and that in 2015 they sent me a bill saying I was deliquent. I never recived the bill and when asked the address they sent it to, it was to an old adress that I had moved out of back in 2012. So for me to have subcribed in 2013 makes no sense, why would I have magizines sent to a address I don't even live at.

They even said I had made some payments on this subscription (over $300) and even stated the last 4 of my credit card. Stating that I must have cancled that card and that is why my payments didn't go through anymore and that is why i still owe the other amount. Again I know for a fact no payments where ever made from this card because it is emergency only card with a very small credit limit ($400) and I would notice if money was coming out of it, especially $300.

They offereed me a settlement amount of $500 that was only good for 24hrs and that if I refused to pay they would report it to my credit report. And that the only reason it is not on their now is because I am still in good standing with them. Which seems strange to be in good standing with a agency that you supposidly owe over $700 for the past 2 yrs now.

I am not paying this bill as I do not owe it and everything they say makes no sense. When you say you will dispute they tell you, "well the company is going to say you owe it and then you will have to pay all of it, so why don't you just accept our settlemnt". When asked for the contact info for Readers Discount Center was told that I would recieve a machine and that I would just be redirected to Central Billing again because they are now the ones handling the account.

I will wait and see if I recieve further calls or whether it actually shows up in my credit report. But as of now it seems very suspect and I will not be paying it.

just got the call today from central billing saying I owed 808.30 out 1098.00. they stated I had already paid the difference in my first 6 months of the subscription from this "subscription company". which I never was charged back in 2012 when they said I had signed up. almost seems to fake because who would go 4 years without receiving payment and not notifying me of my so called subscription and then turn it over to this debt collection company? im not paying anything especially after seeing all these stories which all seem to have the same timeline and amounts owed. also try calling you will reach the same person every time without a wait period....also theres no option for Spanish on the automated directory.

I received a bill from a debt collecting agency for the following amount $954.03, they claim a so called "The subscritpion center" is claiming i have subscribed or agreed to 24 months of magazine subscriptions and are now billing me. I never recieved magazines and did not agree to pay that amount. The central billing network did not want to provide me with further information other than the name of the business, which i cannot find a trace of this business online. Only related scams or other victims on here that are reporting that same issue. I called the BBB to report this and they have given me information on who else to contact regarding the issue, as they have seen other complaints about this. According to the gentleman i spoke to, the central billing network should have transparency in disclosing as to whom is trying to bill me and that could be a violation of the rules regarding that business. Anyone else a victim of this? contact me, there could be a case building against the magazine business or central billing network.

Same issue

I also received something like this and it just seems odd that out of the blue we all get billed from these magazines, which I also got from the subscription center. I will be calling the BBB in my area and ask about this as well. I wonder if we all have the same account number. When I called the number, I was asked leave a voicemail and then when I went to the website it says the call center was coming soon?

I'm curious to know if anything has come of this as I'm still in the beginning stages of attempting to dispute the same charges . I know not a lot of time has passed but have they contacted you or have you found information about the subscription center ? I cannot locate any information on them other then American readers services is a part of it which I called them and they have no record of me yet I'm being sent to collections ... Central billing is absolutely no help and I've filed a complaint against them with the BBB.

Central Billing-Subscription Center

I also received a call regarding the same nonsense. Has anyone noticed anything showing up on their credit report? Are they a reporting agency?

My wife and I received a letter from debt collector "Central Billing" on behalf on a company called "The Subscription Center" for $882.76. We have never had any magazines subscriptions let alone almost $900 worth of magazines. Nothing shows up on our credit card or credit reports. I tried calling this Central Billing place and was told to leave a message.

I was contacted by phone today with a call stating they were trying to collect at debt. Always concerned about any credit situation, I returned the call thinking it was perhaps for one of my children. It was in fact, for me. When I returned the call, it was from Central Billing (web address They indicated that they were trying to collect a debt from "The Subscription Center" a magazine subscription service.

They indicated that the magazine company was trying to collect some $900 for a billing to a credit card that they identitfied by the first two digits and the last four, which although were the numbers to my card, I know I had not subscribed to any magazines. THey indicated that the bill was from 2012. I rememeber receiving calls from a very pushy person over the course of a few months asking did I receive my magazines and when I responded tht I never ordered, received nor desired any magazines they insisted that I did and that they had a credit card number with "my order". They continued this harrasment for several months calling about once a week or so. After it stopped I thought nothing much more of it since, I knew that I had not ordered anything.

After speaking to the person at Central Billing and being told I should receive a letter in the mail in the next couple of days and that I could just "dispute" the claim with either a written letter, fax or online (at the address I provided above) I asked them if they could provide me with more data, namely, the rest of the credit card number etc. They replied that they only had the first two digits and the last four and the remaining number dedacted. They had told me the type credit card so, after hanging up with them I immediately called that credit card company and informed them of the claim and asked for the statements from 2012 be sent to me. They made a report, and sre sending me the statements (and informed me i could go online to retriecve them also)

I have an account number provided by Central Billing and they said that I could go online to submit a dispute to the claim. When I go to the site it has a "BBB Acridited" stamp right at the top. So, I went to the BBB and Sure enough there is highlighted in red, "an alert for this business" which, after clicking it says to contact a particular individual before submitting any complaints. Well, I will be contacting that individual in the AM and, if not completely satified with what I hear, I will be submitting a complaint to the BBB next.

I just thought it important that other people know about what I believe to be a scam (especially, after conducting a search and arriving here and seeing other similar stories). If Central Billing is not included then, they deserve scrutiny for not having vetted their client (I assume) The Subscription Center first before sending out automated calls to unsuspecting individuals claiming to be a collection agent for what is obviously a scam artist.

I hope others will take note of this and if there are legal representatives attempting to prosecute either of the two companies that they contact me.

Subscription Center

Similarly, I received a letter from Central Billing for The Subscription Center claiming I owed $911 for magazines I ordered in 2012. I called them and they said I'd entered some contest and the magazine subscriptions were charged to my card. I said I would ask my attorney to handle this. I contacted the Attorney General in my State and the Consumer Protection Division is handling my case. I believe this is a total scam and I will not be sending them any money nor paying with a credit card. I also opened a Fraud Alert with three firms that oversee protection all my credit cards. My recommendation is to report this company if they ever contact you and maintain a record of the contacts. I do have access to attorneys (my wife is one) and I work with several. So, if this company pursues this, they are going to receive a legal lesson.

On March 18, 2016 i received a letter addressed to a number The letter stated that my account had been turned over to Central Billing for collection. Something I know nothing about nor what the charge is for since none of this was any where in the letter. The letter stated if I did not contact them within 30 days it would be consider vailed and would affect my credit.

They are asking for a credit card payment, I do not have a credit card. I am 67 years old but not a stupid one. These companies need to be sanctioned or but out od business. The first time a letter like this cause a heart attack or a husband to beat his wife for spending money she didn't someone will be paying not collecting.

On the back of the letter it states "Collectors may use false or misleading statements or call you at work if they know or have reason to know that you may not receive personal calls at work". How can any business print this statement on a letter.

Just received this billing

Just received the letter stating I owe then 793.96 and the creditor is the subscription center. I initially panicked at first, but realized they used my Vietnamese name and not my legal American name. I am going to report them to the better business Bureau tomorrow and report them
