Piggy backed on another Organization to scam me.

On Monday, October 28, 2019, I was contacted by the IAOTP – International Association of Top Professionals congratulating me for winning “Hypnotist of the Year” for 2020. There will be a Gala, much Publicity and Exposure. There was a cost to cover tickets to the Gala, Hotel, Travel to New York City etc. which I paid.

I was sent a beautiful Trophy engraved with my name and “Hypnotist of the Year” for 2020

I was featured and announced and congratulated in many public places on the Internet

On Nov. 8, 2019, Carrington Publishers contacted me with a DocUSign and wanted me to sign a document and submit my credit card for costs for an Ultra-Executive Monthly Magazine Publication, Twitter Campaign and radio producers. The cost was $1750.00 US (which came to over $2000.00 Canadian.

I thought it was connected with the IAOTP and didn’t give it another thought until I received a trophy from Carrington Publishers that looked very similar to IAOTP but was called the Diamond Award. I called IAOTP them to ask what it was all about. They had no idea whatsoever and were not connected to Carrington in any way.

It was then I realized Carrington Publishers had piggy backed on my exposure with the IAOTP and that it was a scam. They used the Bio I created for the IAOTP – word for word.

I spoke with Michael from Carrington Pulblisher – (I got the impression he was a salesperson for this scam) and he became very rude and intimidating.

On the phone, when I contacted Carrington Publishers, the person who answered the phone could only give someone a message. Several hours later, the salesperson Michael called me back and was extremely rude. Michael also would not divulge where they originally got my email from.

I told him I was going to dispute the charge on my VISA, he became very abusive and then asked me “What do you want?” I said my money back – He said he would refund the money into an account with their organization (which is useless as I cannot access it for anything) but would not refund my credit card because I had signed – he said.

They sent me a document that was blank.

Who would display a Diamond Award in their business? Would that not inspire questions on what is a diamond award? My answer would have to be – I have no idea!

Beware to all about this fraudulent Company. They don’t have a BBB rating. I should have looked them up first. There are many negative comments.

Carrington Publishers has contacted me on numerous occassions to ask for more money. I paid the initial fee assuming that they were associated with Marquis Who's Who. They are not. The money I paid was for nothing except to get more telephone calls from them. I am sorry that I gave them so much money.

SCAMMING BY CARRINGTON PUBLISHERES

I, too, was the subject of an attempted scam by Carrington. They called me "from the mailroom" as if they were Marquis

Who's Who, the legitimate company which honored me with a Lifetime Achievement Award. They seemed to have my

credit card information but the last four digits were inaccurate- none familiar to me, as I now realize. Another person

called to "clarify" my email address to send an invoice for me to pay them "$1000 on my Visa card ASAP. ("You'll get

a discount of $100 if you sign today!"

I quickly realized that I had already settled my far smaller account with Marquis, and that I never agreed to receive a plaque

or spend $1000. I sent an email declining this offer and noted that I would inform the Visa fraud department of their shady

business practices. I explicitly told them the I was NOT authorizing credit card payment.

If they charge my card I will get back to this site and note it.

Steer clear, honorees.

I informed their agent that I was not interested in being published in their publication and that I could not afford the $1,000.00 asking fee. I followed up with an email expressing my position on the matter and informing them not to charge my bank account. The company proceed to charge my bank account for $1,000.00 against my wish. I reported to my bank to flag the charge because it was nolt authorized by me. I am currently in the p;rocess of extracting my $1,000.00 from the company.
