Carchex Reviews

On June 21, 2022 I purchased a auto warranty from Carchex. There was a 30 day and 500 mile wait before I claim could be filled. I found the clean that was denied due to a manufacturer service bulletin. The bulletin involves an evaporator core which can cause air conditioning to malfunction.

I contacted the manufacturer and based on my VIN, my vehicle wasn't affected by this service bulletin. I contacted Carchex/American Auto Shield with his information and they requested a years worth of maintenance. I probably provided that information and I called more than 10 times to get feedback.

No one is contacting me and as far as I know, my claim is still denied. I explain even the contract is worded upgraded parts, the manufacture is a subject matter expert and they say my car is not affected by the bulletin.

I sent an email to higher authority in Carchex about This matter and no return contact to date. Since making the claim, I've driven four weeks without AC in 100° heat. I've spoken with several people within that organization most were rude. This is my complaint and I am not done with Carchex/American Auto

My Cadillac Escalade was getting high miles so I purchased best warranty to cover bumper to bumper repairs. After a few months my car started making noise so I took my Escalade to dealership and they found I have an engine issue. My car has been in shop for 3 weeks today (2-12-2019) and the shop has spent 2 to 3 hrs per day on hold to have authorization for repairs.

I have coverage for a car rental also but I cannot use it until authorization from Carchex. I’m so glad I was not traveling as we do very often or I would have lost my job already by being stranded who knows where. Countless calls myself between shop and Carchex and shop cannot get anyone on phone ever!

If they do, they get transferred to perpetual hold. If you read this report do not purchase anything that sells your contract to a third party as Carchex does and they just keep getting away with scamming people out of money. They take $193 a month out of my account but they will not honor their contract by playing games with the repair shops and contract holders.

I will never purchase an extended warranty unless through GM in the future. If you depend on your vehicle for your job then don’t purchase from Carchex. Thank God I was not traveling when this issue happened or I would be jobless by now!

I purchased the Titanium extended warranty Package on 01/17/2017. I was told by rep that this was the best package they offerred and is compared to a "bumper to bumper" warranty with very few exclusions. I have a copy of the transcript for proof of our conversation. I have taken my car to the dealership for repairs 3x this year and each and every time they refuse the repairs.

My car is currently at the dealership for coolant leak, passenger front seat stopped working (electric) and for struts/compressor replacment. This warranty should be covering all repairs less $100 deductible. They are refusing to repair the seat, stating that there is liquid spilled that caused damage. Although, I did not spill anything to cause seat to stop working. They are also refusing to pay for the compressor that makes my air suspension work properly. They said that the codes state overheating of the compressor and they claim that my contract states they will not replace any parts that have been overheated. [continued below]....

..... The dealership is replacing the relay and the compressor. I was told that when the relay goes bad, the compressor will run continuously and therefore overheat and burn up motor.

NO WAY should this be my fault, the consumer BUT they are refusing to pay for the repairs and the dealer wants $2700 to repair the compressor alone because they are refusing to pay. There were NO LIGHTS on dash stating anything wrong and no way that I could have taken the vehicle to the dealer any sooner. I noticed the problem and took it in right away. I spoke with someone at carchex in the retention dept. She told me "sharon" in their claims dept would get back to me but I should email her the copy of the estimate so she could review, which I had done right away. It's been over 24hrs and Ive received no email back and no call back. My vehicle is still sitting at the facility waiting for these people to get back to me. I tried and call their customer service number and it keeps going to voicemail. They also take no responsibility, they point you to "royal administration" even though CARCHEX sold me the policy and take my money every month, THEY WILL NOT HELP ME!!!

THESE PEOPLE ARE SCAM ARTISTS!!! DO NOT PURCHASE FROM THEM!!

The first two claims this year they REFUSED to pay and I had to pay for the work myself. This 3rd claim being denied put me over the edge.

THEY ARE CROOKS!! And they make you jump through hoops in order to cancel as well.

Decided to purchase the warranty. Bad idea. I was told this warranty covers all repairs listed in the contract. I spent over $6,000 to get my Lexus in great shape so when i did get the warranty i would not have any issues or discrepancy with the warranty company. 2-3 months later, my transfer or front diff went, motor/transmission mounts, and oil pan gasket leak. The dealer contacted the warranty and they advised that inspector will be out within 24 to 48 hours. The inspector arrived 2 days later and took pictures. He then contacted the dealer back after he left and inform them that the transfer case or front diff will need to be taken down and apart to see what exactly inside the transfer case or front diff failed. The mounts and oil pan gasket will be inspected when the tear down is done. Stated the inspector will comeback a 2nd time. No were in the contract does it state that that will need to be done if any major mechanical or any component fails and needs to be replaced.

The transfer case or diff is about $1500. The dealer wants to replace the transfer case or differential (me personally am not sure which one is the issue)car chex/royal wants a tear down to see point of failure and replace the bad parts. Which means more days downtime without my car and nothing is fixed. The dealer states that it will cost more to do what they requested. The amount of labor to remove the transfer case or diff and then open it up exceeds pricing on new Case or diff part with labor. All of this shouldn't even be a issue since the new transfer case or diff is covered as stated in warranty. it has no mainentence intervals, and the transfer or diff can be easliy checked if drained and check fluid for broken or worn parts. Regardless of what, the actual dismantling is there way out of paying. Also they advised that i will be responsible for the tear down cost. If that is the case then i will not tear it down but pay to have it replaced which will cost me less. This warranty cost $5,000. I must say for $5,000 i could have repaired my issue and still have money left over. I am canceling the warranty and wont even waste time with the whole claim. This is not a warranty for anyone period. They take your money fast but when time to pay for a repair they have all kind of excuses and "procedures" that they have to follow but yet no one informs this to you before, during or even in the contract. Just when a failure occurs. How convenient. STAY AWAY! TRUST ME WHEN I SAY!

I bought a extended warranty from carchchex. The next day cancelled policy with in 30 days as they claim. Now carchex is sending bills to me. That is not cancelled. I've sent their cancellation forms email and called them. They claim they don't have any records of any conversation or forms or emails. So since its been over 30 days. I'm responsible for the bills. But they can't warranty my car but can charge me. They are rip offs. Don't use them. Tell everyone you can not to use

I recently called about a problem with my vehicle, and was told to take it to someone for evaluation, Took it to Ford Dealer and was told had transmission problem. Was also told repair of any kind was denied. Due to low fluid, claim was denied. How Do I check for low Fluid, Transmision is a Sealed System, do Dipstick no dashboard light warning. Called to speak to someone, all previous E-mail and phone No's, non-existent? Did I purchase a warranty that does not work, If so how can I get a refund of monies paid so I can get vehicle fixed?

Reason given was,Transmission low fluid", that why I took it to Dealership,to find problem of slipping shifts. No way to check Trans fluid, Sealed system? Did I purchase a warranty that does not work, If so how can I get a refund of monies paid so I can get vehicle fixed?

I took my 2010 Buick Enclave to the dealership to have the air conditioner checked. The air conditioner blows cold air but sometimes it blows warm. I was told that my core compressor had a small leak and needed to be replaced. I filed a claim with Carchex and was called back by dealership and told that I needed to approve a tear down. The tech told me that he's dealt with them in the past and when they ask that a customer approves this that Carchex is probably not going to pay for repairs. Well I thought, "hey I pay for this warranty, why would they not cover an air conditioner repair?" So Carchex sent out an inspector and a few days later I was called by a representative who pretty much whispered into the phone (like it was an undercover operation) that they would not cover this claim and before I could ask any questions, he hung up. Weird right.

Well I called back and spoke with another rep who told me that the reason the claim was denied was because I had reached my limit. What? That's not what the first guy told me and when I corrected her, she placed me on hold to go find a supervisor. I was called back by a supervisor whe stated that because there was dust buildup on the compressor this was a pre-existing issue. Huh? Don't all repairs stem from a pre-existing condition at some point. I was contacted via email by their underwriters to tell me this was due to wear and tear. Ok now I'm confused. Doesn't most repairs stem from wear and tear? This company has taken my money with no intentions of covering any claims. Please what ever you do, please please please don't ever buy from these people. It is money wasted unless you need your cup holder replaced, they have no intentions of covering your claim. They can hide under the umbrella of "normal wear and tear" or "pre-existing issue" and there's nothing you can do about it.

Bought warranty for F-350. When it needed a reapair it took 3 weeks then they decided to deny coverage because it had a 5th wheel attached at one time. Then 5th wheel was not on the truck when I purchased truck or warranty nor was one ever used during the time I owned the truck. Why would anyone buy an F-350 pick-up except to tow something on occasions. They will find any excuse not to pay. Would not reccommend anyone to do business with them.

As a smart consumer, I researched in depth 5 extended warranty companies for my Mercedes-Benz. CARCHEX was #4 on my list. After speaking to the other companies, I was getting great information before I make my decision. After giving the CARCHEX representative my info he asked me what other companies did I speak to. Without telling me what he can offer me, he started going on and on how the other companies (who are higher rated) are total scams and they won’t cover me on any claims. Once he was done with his bad mouthing we went over the coverage and quote and I told him I will think about it and compare it with the other companies. He actually told me if I don’t go with CARCHEX I will be sorry that I didn’t… That sound like a threat.

I decided to wait a few days hoping it was just that particular salesman and tried to call back. To my dismay, another salesman did the same thing. It looks like this is how all the salesman are trained. So I decided to listen to what he had to say and wrote down everything he said to check the validity of his claims as well as review with him the many customers who voiced their experiences with CARCHEX RIPPOFF REPORT.

I went over a few of the RIPPOFF REPORTS to see what he had to say:

Carchex Repair bill $870. My portion $537. What’s the use of having a warranty with these guys.

His response was, I don’t know anything about that.So I decided to do some further investigation, and found.

Carchex royal administration services CARCHEX SCAM DO NOT USE - TAKES YOUR MONEY AND REFUSES TO REIMBURSE OR PAY FOR AUTO WORK

CARCHEX, Jason Goldsmith, Royal Administration Services IF YOU HAVE A CAR WITH OVER 50,000 MILES, YOUR WARRANTY WILL LIKELY BE REFUSED……also in the same claim states ‘EVERYONE NEEDS TO KNOW THAT YOUR WARRANTY IS NOT WORTH THE PAPER IT IS PRINTED ON BECAUSE YOU CAN DENY ANY AND ALL CLAIMS.. The only certainty is that you will be intimidated if you object to the company telling you that they will not pay for coverage, leaving you with a loss of $100’s to $1,000’s of dollars in payments for no coverage

After reading this the rep put me on hold and never came back. I called back numerous times to see why he will spend 30% of time on the quote and 70% on intimidating me only to go with them.

I did research on CARCHEX and they are brokers that sells someone else’s coverage that goes by the name ROYAL ADMINISTRATORS. CARCHEX salesman are professional scammers just to get your money.CARCHEX IS A SCAM.

Bought a warranty from Carchex. Salesman stated that if I ran into any problems with the parts that was covered under warranty that all I had to come up with is a deductible of a $100 dollars and find a certified repair shop of my choice and my car would be taken care of. Eight months later my water pump fails. Had the vehicle towed to a shop, thx god I didn't take it to a dealer. The bill, $870. I paid $537. That just $100 deductible crap doesn't exist. Talked to a representative and got the pretty much your screwed speech. Carchex just pretty much handles the part and a few hours of labor to put the part in. Hoses , belts and any other thing that needs done even though it may relate to the part that's being restored it's on you. Don't do it people.
