If you don’t know too much about this bank, you are now warned. Capital One Bank is very toxic, unreliable and unprofessional. They have lots of complaints if you do your due diligence.

Those working at their card investigations department are extremely toxic and unstable. They have no professionalism but rather launch attacks at customers for fickle reasons- a strong indication of toxic mental illness. This is why you can’t trust your money with these people and better take it and run.

They freezes customer accounts as a personal (than professional) retaliation after customer told them the information they requested have already been sent earlier upon their second request and ignoring the requested information has already been sent to them. This tells you enough how toxic the bank is and how risky it is to deal with these unreliable people who will attack for no valid reasons.

In addition the bank is not innocent as upon realizing these personal attacks against customers, the bank will not admit it but rather cover up for the wrong doings to make themselves look good (that they don’t have terrible employees at the bank).

This raise the question that maybe the card investigations department is no different than the bank itself, which is about similarly toxic. The gaslighting and avoidance over their internal issues shows a bank that has no integrity and accountability, as well as lack of competence.

By sliding on the wrongs of their not well behaved employees, Capital One proved and finished the certification of its new low. They are also violating laws by refusing to tell customers why they freezed or closed customers’ accounts because they don’t have a reason except their terrible employee’s behaviors against customers who did nothing wrong except telling the department information they requested has already sent to them.

The bank is full of hostility and hate in their own “right”. As innocent consumers, you don’t want to stomp on this hot water and let them ruin your life because they are intentionally holding your money as part of the retaliation that has no sound, legal or valid reasons behind it.

On June 3 2022 I called Capital One about my credit card account. I had a card with an annual fee and asked the woman if I could switch to a card without an annual fee. She said I could, and I asked her could I get my annual fee refunded and she said yes but I would have to call back after my card was switched to the non annual fee card(same account number).

After I received the card I called in to get a refund for the annual fee and was told it would have to have been refunded before the card was switched. I asked to speak to his manager and he said the annual fee could not be refunded after it is billed. 3 people 3 different stories.

The account manager wouldn't budge so I told him to close the account which he promptly did. I would reccomend another bank if you'r looking for a credit card, because Capital One doesn't seem to care about their customers and can't even keep the rules straigt between employees.

I pay my auto loan through Capital one, through their website. And Since my loans inception, I have used my checking account to make payments. I went online a few weeks ago to make a payment. amd low and behold, my checking account was no longer available under the "choose account" options, although when I tried to add it, Capital one told me " This account is already registered and is available".

The ONLY option for a payment, was through a thrid party vendor, who charges 3.45 per payment. I called their "customer service" number, and after an HOUR of their pre scripted crap, I left my personal cell number for a call back.15 mins later I get a call, from them, and when I state why I called, I couldnt even get the reason out of my mouth, and was told..."there is a glitch with the website, and NO I dont know when it will be foxed, is there anything else i can help you with today"??

That was TWO WEEKS AGO, and their website is STILL only offering the PAY FOR PAYMENT OPTION. And no,my bank has no issues with me paying with my 30 year old checking account.Capitalone, is GARBAGE. And Now it appears that a "breach" has been reported by them , but NOT to customers singularly, only through an announcement on their website that suffers "glitches". And they "dont kno" how many customers private information has been HACKED. CAPITAL ONE needs to be INVESTIGATED for their shady practices.

I thought I would use my rewards to buy gift cards. My wife accidentally threw them out because there was not tracking provided, no email notification of delivery, erroneous timetable for delivery, and the envelope was a non descript, white envelope that looks like junk mail. $400 worth of cards! I called customer service twice and on both occasions they said it wouldn't be a problem. Received a call today from rewards services, Capital One will not reimburse my points nor reissue the gift cards. That's how you support families in a pandemic? A multi-billion dollar company.

I applied for a credit card a couple months ago and selected Platinum because they gave $150 reward if you spend $500 in 3 months. I have excellent credit and got another card that has my Limit at $26,000 when Capitol One only approved me for $1,000. I called them and they said it was only until I established a payment record since I was new to their company. I made a few small purchases on the card and then tried one that was somewhere near $100. Declined, next one declined. I called and they said they needed more info and said they needed photo ID, front and back of drivers license, 2 bills showing my payment record at my current address, pictures of my social security card front and back.

I did not give my ss# and told them by federal law a ss# can not be used for ID. Instead, I gave them pictures of the card I was given to use with a new government ID number. I tried again to use it and it was declined. I do not remember what all information I put on the initial application but it was enough to be approved for the paltry $1000 and now they're declining. Gives rise to suspicion as to why they are now demanding my ss#. I believe the scam is to delay paying the $150 reward long enough that I can't spend their $500 in 3 months by this type of harassment. I told her to cancel the card...I don't need it since I got another card with a $26,000 limit.

She proceeds to start telling me I Must make the minimum payment and I will continue to be billed even with a 0 balance on any more charges. Hmmm. I'm cancelled and they're keeping it open for more fraud charges??? I said I am cutting up this card as we speak and any charges beyond the first denial will not be paid. Then she starts reading from what appears to be pages of conditions and terms. I told her I don't need to hear that, just send me the bill for the few original purchases around $100 and it would be paid in full. She said she must read this so I told her go ahead and read, I'm done and hung up. Actually when I told a friend I couldn't understand why Capital One would deny my purchases, he said Oh, no. He knew different people that had many problems and would NEVER recommend this company to anyone and this proves him absolutely correct.

Capital One has been my Master Card processor for over 10 years. Annually, without fail, I have had to spend excessive amounts of time on phone calls to "reverify" my creditials to prove who I am, so that Capital One's arbitrary account restrictions would be lifted, and I could resume use of my credit card.

For the entire time of my account with this company, I have never carried a balance on this Platinum Master Card which has no charge limit. I paid balances in full, every month, every year, without fail. Each time I have had to call Capitol One to unfreeze my account, none of the details were due to my failures.

I have often in the past spent well over an hour on these calls, for problems not created by me. I've have had to work thru reordering processes online for my business, been stuck in an airport across the country because I could not use the Capitol One MC to check my luggage, and nearly run out of gas in my car - all because this idiotic, poorly run company arbitrarily restricts or freezes my account. They make little to no attempt to notify me afterward.

Today, I closed my account after again spending over 35 minutes on the phone, verifying my credentials to several employees, including the fraud detection unit (which is an utter joke). I verified my credentials to the IVR robot that answers the phone.

I verified my credentials to the poorly trained customer service rep, then to her latteral associate, and then attempted to do it again with a supervisor from the Fraud Detection Unit, but none of these people would tell me the specific reason my account had been locked/restricted, and stated I would have to send them a photo of the front and back of my driver's license, before they could answer that question.

I had them close my account, which apparently doesn't require proving who I am. I didn't have to send photos and drivers licen number to Capitol One to open the account. In fact, I spent about 5 minutes on the phone to open an account (I guess they don't care if you are really who you say you are if they can open up another line of revenue for their company).

This company already has enough personal information about me to steal my identity. They don't get any more info from me at this point. Although I was told the account is closed, I can still signon to their server and change my information, but they have taken all the cash rewards from me so that I can't redeem their value (close to $100.00).

That in itself is consumer fraud. The biggest issue I have, however, is that after all this, my logon page shows a link to the information below, where Capital One DOES disclose they have been breached on July 19, 2019, and over 140 MILLION accounts/social security numbers have been stolen. These people are extremely unhelpful- some nicely mannered but lost - and some just total a-holes.

Do yourself a favor and use another company that doesn't provide such terrible customer service and unrresonable hoops for the consumer to jump thru repeatedly. Capital One cannot provide meaningful, unobtrusive security procedures. The customer is put thru the ringer while private customer data is lost to cyber crime. It is absolutely the worst creidt card company I have ever dealt with in years.

Information on the Capital One Cyber Incident

Updated 4:15 PM ET, Mon September 23, 2019

What happened

On July 19, 2019, we determined that an outside individual gained unauthorized access and obtained certain types of personal information about Capital One credit card customers and individuals who had applied for our credit card products.

What we've done

We immediately fixed the issue and promptly began working with federal law enforcement. The outside individual who took the data was captured by the FBI. The government has stated they believe the data has been recovered and that there is no evidence the data was used for fraud or shared by this individual.

"While I am grateful that the perpetrator has been caught, I am deeply sorry for what has happened," said Richard D. Fairbank, Chairman and CEO. "I sincerely apologize for the understandable worry this incident must be causing those affected and I am committed to making it right."

Safeguarding information is essential to our mission and our role as a financial institution. We have invested heavily in cybersecurity and will continue to do so. We will incorporate the learnings from this incident to further strengthen our cyber defenses.

What's the impact

Based on our analysis to date, this event affected approximately 100 million individuals in the United States and approximately 6 million in Canada.

Importantly, no credit card account numbers or log-in credentials were compromised and less than one percent of Social Security numbers were compromised. In addition, the outside individual who took the data was captured by the FBI. The government has stated they believe the data has been recovered and that there is no evidence the data was used for fraud or shared by this individual.

The largest category of information accessed was information on consumers and small businesses as of the time they applied for one of our credit card products from 2005 through early 2019. This information included personal information Capital One routinely collects at the time it receives credit card applications, including names, addresses, zip codes/postal codes, phone numbers, email addresses, dates of birth, and self-reported income.

Beyond the credit card application data, the individual obtained portions of credit card customer data, including:

Customer status data, e.g., credit scores, credit limits, balances, payment history, contact information.

Fragments of transaction data from a total of 23 days during 2016, 2017 and 2018.

This information has been shared on Capital One’s website, servicing portal, press release and 8K filing.

The individual also obtained the following data:

About 140,000 Social Security numbers of our credit card customers.

About 80,000 linked bank account numbers of our secured credit card customers.

We have notified these customers through the mail.

For our Canadian credit card customers, approximately 1 million Social Insurance Numbers were compromised in this incident. We have notified all Canadian customers affected.

For our Canadian credit card customers, please visit our website at www.capitalone.ca/facts2019.

What we are doing to help

We have directly notified by mail all individuals whose Social Security numbers or linked bank account numbers were accessed. We will continue to make free credit monitoring and identity protection available to everyone affected.

The outside individual who took the data was captured by the FBI. While the government has stated they believe the data has been recovered and that there is no evidence the data was used for fraud or shared by this individual, we encourage anyone who may have any concerns about this incident to reach out to us at 1-844-388-8999.

Although this place is spacious and has enough outlets and it's a nice place to get some work done, people working here are not that great. Banking staffs are always occupying the information desk and spend most of their time chilling and hanging out with one another. They occasionally greet visitors and always willing to help customers.

They don't seem to know everything about Capital One (there were a few times I asked them about some of the programs about Capital One and they couldn't answer them). It really does seem like one of the easiest jobs in the world because you spend most of your time hanging out with coworkers, occasionally, out of guilt, pretending to work by opening up a laptop and staring at it.

It's the worst Peet's Coffee I've ever had both in terms of taste and their customer service. It seems I'm not the only one who had this issue. In my case, there is this a Caucasian woman who seems to have been working here for forever. She has been very rude to me, and thought she was a racist. One time she yelled at me, and another time she gave me this condescending look that as if she was dealing with some kind inferior piece of sh*t.

DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH CAPITOL ONE IF YOU LIKE YOUR MONEY BECAUSE THEY WILL FIND A WAY TO CHARGE YOU HIGHER INTEREST EVEN FOR NO REASON AT ALL. I REQUESTED THE FULL AMOUNT TO MAKE A PAYOFF ON MY CREDIT CARD AND I WAS GIVEN A PAYOFF AMT FOR WHICH I PAID. THE NEXT MONTH I RECEIVED A BILL FOR 40.00 OF INTEREST AND WHEN I CALLED TO HAVE THIS REMOVED I WAS TOLD NO THIS AMOUNT WAS NOT INCLUDED IN MY PAYOFF BECAUSE I ONLY PAID THE STATEMENT BALANCE, WHEN I ADVISED THE SUPV THAT I WAS GIVEN THE AMOUNT I PAID AS A PAYOFF FROM A REPRESENTATIVE SHE SAID "THAT CANNOT POSSIBLY BE TRUE BECAUSE WE TRAIN ALL OF OUR REPS TO REQUEST A PAYOFF". SO I SAID WELL I GUESS YOU ARE CALLING ME A LIAR THEN RIGHT? OF WHICH SHE HAD NO RESPONSE. YOU MEAN TO TELL ME I PAID 4400.00 TO PAY OFF MY ACCOUNT AND THEN I PURPOSELY SHORTED YOU OUT OF 40.00? WHAT WOULD BE THE POINT? AT ANY RATE SHE REFUSED TO REMOVE THE 40.00 CHARGE SO I CLOSED THE CARD AND WILL NEVER DO BUSINESS WITH THESE LOW LIFES EVERY AGAIN. YOU CAN MAKE YOUR OWN DECISION FOR YOURSELF I AM JUST LEAVING MY OPINION HERE ON RIPPOFF REPORT BECAUSE HAVING USED THIS WEBSITE IN THE PAST TO SEARCH ABOUT COMPANIES HAS HELPED ME TO MAKE A MORE INFORMED DECISION OR AT LEAST I KNOW BEFORE HAND WHAT I A GETTING INTO.

Beware of any CapitalOne Credit Cards. They will mess up any auto increases so you don't get it and then claim you didn't meet their requirement and close all the accounts. They closed my fiances first and then 2 weeks later closed mine with the reason I gave. Don't trust these people plus they always have foreign people answering and I found out one time when I spoke to an american that when you get these people its transfering to the philpines or Africa. Don't deal with these people unless you want screwed over.

I went online looking for cash advance. Received call and email from Captiol One Fast Cash.

They approved me for $5000 personel loan but needed me to wire them $80 first. Which set off red flags.

You should never have to send money upfront in order to receive a personel loan.

I was scammed by a company saying they were capitalone. I told my whole report in the other area. I guess i wasn't suppose to do that. I was trying to borrow $5000 and boy the time I was finished they were going to give me a loan

Bt the time I was finished they were going to give me a loan for $13,986 because of all the money I had paid them and they were going to loan me more because I was waiting so long for my money..I paid for taxes, I paid for interest, I paid for fees.

No telling what else I paid for. They had a person who was suppose to be from my bank call me to verify information. But then I check the number and it wasn't from the bank. Then they said because I dealt with a credit union they could deposit

money into the account. They said they would mail me two checks instead each for $6000 and something. O f course I never got the checks. Then they wanted me to pay to get them re-issued of course. They had me pay them by green dot

Visa cards and I was suppose to even get my money back with those cards. This went on for months me talking to supervisors and whoever. One of the men I talk to was from the government taxes sure they were. Finally they deposited

two checks into my bank account but my bank called me because the checks weren't any good. Those checks were for $800-

$900. Then I told Jose Sanders how were they going to give me a loan if two small checks bounced from them. I asked for all my money back but of course I would have to pay to for that too. After going back and forth with him almost every day for several weeks I kept telling them I wasn't paying any money. He said my loan was now no good. And would everything would be cancelled.

Then sound so good and know all the right things to say and then I got desparate I had given them more money then I even

needed to borrow. I am in a mess right know because of there so called loan company. I am so mad at myself for being so
