Budget Rent a Car Reviews

Budget Rental car at this location continues to overcharge me!!

Use another provider!!!

  • Sep 5, 2020

On july 20th, I picked up a rental car, the car had low air in the tires and after driving it a few days, needed oil. I willingly added air to the tires, and put oil in it. They only rent a car out for 28 days, I needed a car for 35 days. The day before this rental was due to return, the car got a flat tire. There was no spare tire in the trunk. I called Budget rental and they instructed me to call the road side assistance. I called the road side assistance and they had to send a tow truck out because there was no spare to change the tire, which I would of gladly done on my own.

Roadside assistance representative, said they would send me a courtesy car to take me personally to another budget rental facility to pick up another car. The car service never came, I had to find another way to get a second car. The budget rental representative told me to go back to the original rental facility to pick up a second car. I found a ride and went to the Sheridan drive facility. That represntative tells me they dont have any cars and sends me to another facility. I finally get to that place, took a while to find, and I have a new rental car. Before same day i book a new car for 9 days, Im quoted 311.00 for the 9 days and have an e-mail confirmation of 311.00. When my 9 days are up, I pay 419.31. 108.31 more than Im quoted. but Budget rental charges my debit card 540.00 instead of the 311.00 im quoted, and what was on my receipt (419.310, I was told to disput it with the billing department by the retal employee and she handed me my receipt with the phone number written on it.

I call and dispute this. in the mean time they hit my bank account for another 210.00. I call to find out what these charges are for and they tell me its for the road side service of the first rental car (10 days prior to this car). I dispute this, because, why did they wait 10 days to try and charge me for this, and if they had a spare in the trunk, road side would never have been called and because of no spare they would of had to use road side assistance regardless to get the car back. After arguing for a very lengthy time and being hung up on, they finally agree to refund the 220.00.

That was on August 31st. Im still waiting for the refund. They owe me 121.00 difference from what was written on my receipt and what they charged my debit card and they also owe me the 220.00 road side service fee's they agreed to refund. I feel like this is Fraud and theft. I was lied to, robbed, over charged, stressed out, my bank account is now negative because of all these over charges and now over charge fee's on my bank account.

Try to scam me with cancelling a booking of $144 for the week and put me in one for $701 on day of confirmation and travel.

Then put me through 4 hrs of trying to get this resolved with no success.

Upon returning car, they charged me to fill tank because their scannning device said 1/2 full but car was FULL. Also charged me a day extra for no reason.

The owner of this rental agency overcharged rental fees by more than a week simply because he did not go look in the lot for the car, despite that the national office had been contacted and informed that the car had been returned. The national office has records that I called to report the car returned, and made notes in the file on the company's accessible computer system. I called the national office because this location does not have a key drop off box and I returned the car after hours with the keys in the car and wanted them to know it was there. The owner of this location chose to pretend he did not see the report nor the car until a week later and charged my card for more than a week's worth of extra days despite the fact that the car had been sitting in his own lot the whole time. I was never informed, not one day, two days or three days after the car rental was due, that he thought I still had it. I had no contact until more than a week later. It's not my fault he didn't bother to look in his lot, or look at the file to see that the car was returned. It was just an excuse he used to get more money from my card. Laziness on his part to not see his car in the lot or call the customer to ask about why it was not returned, to which I would have informed him that it is right there in his lot and the national office had already been informed.

WILL NEVER AGAIN USE THIS RENTAL COMPANY, NO MATTER WHAT STATE I AM IN!!! Pasco, Washington at the TRI Cities airport. I recently used this service and opted for the gas mileage package/$54.44. I was told that if I kept the car mileage under 75 miles, I would only have to pay a flat fee of $14.99. I WAS IN TOWN FOR A CONFERENCE 4 MILES AWAY FROM MY HOTEL...the car mileage used was under 65 miles when the car was returned.

AFTER seeing no adjustment to my bank account, I called and spoke with the them in regards to this. I was told by the location that he did not see such an agreement...I wanted to speak with the supervisor, after a lengthy wait I was told no one was available. I asked for the corporate number (1-800-582-9791). I called their corporate office...The agent told me that I returned the car at 100 miles! (exactly 100 miles??? Suspicious).......That was a complete LIE!!! I barely left my hotel!!!!

I purposeful kept the car under so I could get the cheaper rate. When I returned the keys, the agent said I was good to go, no additional paperwork was given to me. I asked about the adjustment and was told that it would be taken care of....It disgust me that you can't take companies at their word. NEVER AGAIN WILL I BE A VICTIM OF BUDGET CAR RENTAL!

I left an item in my returned car and filed a lost and found claim the same day.The manager at that office never bothered to call me after several messages and calls.

I even tried the corporate Customer Service department. They were no help at all. I am convinced my item was snagged by an employee. Budget likes to say they are not responsible for "lost" items, but having thieving employees is not acceptable.

They would do well to review camera footage to find the bad employees and remove them. Any reputable company would have returned my call and done everything they could to resolve my complaint.

They have an "F" rating with Better Business Bureau.Makes sense!

On October 1st i rented a car from this location after making a reservation online, they had quoted me a rate of 41 dollars including taxes until October 4th, on October 5th i called the location to extend the rental until the 15th and i was told their system was down at the moment but they were gonna notated the account and would extend the contrcat as soon as the system was back up.

On October 15th i returned the car to this same location and their system was once more down and i was told at the time that they would close the contract and a receipt would be mailed to me with the total charges, well, no recipt was ever sent to me, in fact they went ahead and charged my account close to $2000.00 bringing the rental to a whoping $84.00 per day plus tax, when i called to dispute this amount they offered no appologies nor any resolution to their mistake, in fact i just noticed they altered the mileage on the papers saying i drove this car for over 20,000 miles in a 15 day period, wich makes no sense unless i haddriven this car for 24 hours a day at a speed of 60mph, so in other words according to this crooks i did not slept for 15 days instead i drove the car constantly in that period of time.

The issue was taken to my bank for resolution and im awaiting a response, if i cant resolve this matter with the bank i will have no other recourse than to take this to the courts to be ruled, this people are professional corporate scammers and i am sure i am not the only one.

WARNING!!! We rented a car from this place for a three day rental a couple weeks ago due to a breakdown. Well it turns out we only needed the rental for two of those days and got there early (when they opened that morning) to return the vehicle. I was in the parking lot at 8 AM sharp, watched the employee pull in a few minutes late around 8:05. This guy was driving a Lexus SUV and I watched him pull right up to the door, get out and unlock the door. I walked in right behind him to turn in the keys. This guy takes the keys and just says "you're good" - nothing to sign, no receipt or anything. Guess I should've known better; because he didn't check in the keys until 10:45 or thereabouts, so no credit for us. So of course I call that place up with a rather unhappy tone of voice (after my wife already called) and get told "Hey sir - no need to get an attitude with me!" Really now? So I guess if I were to head down there and snatch $75 out of your wallet, I can just tell you the same thing. Of course he just passes the hot potato off to some 1-800 customer disservice number where I explain the exact same story to a rep there, gave all the details of my experience, asked if I was supposed to get some kind of turn in paperwork or sign something (he didn't really answer that question); but he did say I would receive my credit for the early turn in. Of course it never came, so here I am to make sure everyone out there knows what kind of business they run there.

It's too bad that this is how so many businesses choose to conduct themselves these days, so hopefully you readers out there will make the smart decision to not support these kind of actions and head on over to one of the half dozen rental companies that are pretty much within shouting distance of this place. STAY AWAY - TAKE YOUR BUSINESS ELSEWHERE!!

Above is the email from Priceline stating that your company budget made

an error and took advantage and used predatory means. That is how I see

it and if you don't do the right thing I have all the time in the world

to involve as many people as possible including the media on this

matter. I have witnesses and do not like being cheated.

You do what you are going to do. As for me this is how I see it. When

I came up to your company to do business with your staff member he was

involved in a conversation to the side with a young woman. They were

laughing, etc. and she was asking him if he wanted anything to eat and

that kind of interaction. He kept talking to her and gave me half of

his attention. I told him that I had booked with priceline and could he

look up the account as I had paid 77,00 for insurance and he said that

he saw it and yes he could find it. He was still carrying on with this

young lady as she was quite interested in him.

So then he tells me it

is going to be 470.00 and I am like, wait a minute I booked this through

priceline and I just used your company a couple of weeks back and it

came to 266.00 for ten days through priceline. He gave me a scenario

where he had gone through the same thing and he paid about the same for

ten days and then when he booked a short time later for four days it

cost the same as ten days. So then I am upset and made a trip to the

airport and I am like this does not sound right but I have loads of

people coming for my dad's funeral and I have to have a car. I booked

the lowest end vehicle which was a dodge dart. Then he said do I want

the insurance and I said that I had already paid for insurance with

priceline and he said it wasn't the same and it wouldn't cover the car

and I am like wait a minute I just used this website two weeks ago and I

used the same insurance.

So he tells me that I need additional coverage

that I am not covered and I asked him how much was this additional

coverage. He said 30.00 and I said 30.00 total cost and he said yes and

I said are you sure I'm not covered and by this time he is eyeing the

clerk beside him like this lady is being such a jerk. I said ok for

30.00 I can afford that and I said but I will tell you that I am going

to the corporate office and if I wasn't in a jam where people are

pouring in for my dad's funeral I would not even rent a car from you.

So then the car I get is flashing PSI lights the whole time and I do not

have time at all to deal with this car.

I am in a strange city and I do

not know where to go and there is no time to call the company. So for a

week I am asking everyone I am escorting is this safe? So then I get

back there and this guy gives me a readout and I am like what? How can

this be 660.00. There must be some mistake....Oh no, there was no

mistake the 30.00 was per day and they didn't even put the priceline so

I am like stuck with this huge bill. So you do what you think is right

but I am going to follow this up and I will make a formal complaint and

open a case with the attorney general.

I will never book a car through

Budget as from the 2nd rental the incompetence has been quite blatant.

I have all the correspondence and email after email and if you think you

can brush this under the rug you are mistaken. I will also go to the

BBB and follow up with other complaints because you made my life that

difficult. So you keep me posted and I will do what I am going to do.

I rented a car from Budget rental car in September. I had only been on the road for about 30 mins. and the tire blew. My boyfriend put the spare on and the spare was a donut. We were travelling about 300 miles outside of NC.

I called Budget they tried to get me to switch the car out, but the places were either closed or they didnt have another car. My only other option was to purchae a tire. I did. OMG i had to spend over 200 for one tire for a car I was only driving for a weekend.

It has been 5 weeks and still no refund. I was promised they were going to REFUND me my money back. I DONT HAVE MY REFUND. I will never rent from BUDGET again. Who has money to give a huge corporation for a tire your travelling on for a weekend. I KNOW I dont.

They would not give a price on a rental car. They where trying to jack up the price so you would not no the correct price for a rental car. I call there service department and spoke to a person diego would not answer any questions. was no help, the next day I tried to call there service department they would not let you speak to a manager. When you call in to speak with a manager to tell them about the problem and they will not let you speak to manager there is something wrong. Buyer beware.

I made reservations for a rental car at Cleve. Hopkins Airport. My wife upon attempting to retrieve the rental discovered during the Christmas rush the counter was unoccupied, the line was long and remained so for 15min. She eventually got going, they gave her the wrong car, explained verbally and in writing the vehicle rental would be $127.00. Yet my credit card was charged $306.00, apparently the agent slips extras into the rental agreement while customers are'nt looking. What's worse is their corporate offices support such behavior. Fortunately my credit card co. who also provided insurance for this rental took the money back from Budget so that I suffered no loss at the hands of this company who I now believe uses deceptive practices and steals from anyone foolish enough to do business with them. I learned my lesson, learn yours from my experience. Never rent anything from Budget!
