Budget Car Rental Reviews

My report would be identical to the report from New York. It has the same person's name as that report except it was from VA and not New York. This appears to me to be some kind of gimmick that is being repeated in multiple states. Is it Budget doing this or a scamer?

What a farce this place is. Deborah is a witch. All she did was bi*ch all the while we were there. She was including other people into our rental when they weren't even with us. The other reviews are correct in saying that she tells other people about personal stuff on our rentals.

She claims it is because she has no help but her help walked out on her and quit cause of her. She picked up that phone constantly when we were there but never answered the phone for the entire 3 days later and after when we tried to call. She was short tempered and not nice.

We rented a 4runner from Budget. We took care of the car as we always do. We turned the car in, no damage, got our final bill emailed, which was correct. We never even had so much as a soda in that car! We didn't take it off road, no mud, or anything.

We rented the car for a funeral. Then, almost a year later, we get a letter from "Nora Henry" saying we owe $450 in damages for soilage, stains, spills. Which is a LIE. This is very upsetting and infuriating. This is a rip off SCAM by Budget. I've tried calling twice so far, to no avail. Will try calling again tomorrow.

Today I received a bill from Budget informing me they were billing me $148.70 for damages from a rental I don't remember taking back in July 2020, but it is possible I rented it, I use them quite often. The damage listed was 'interior trim'. Among the charges was a towing cost of $50, which with interior trim damage is a big red flag.

I called and spoke with customer service and the agent was very helpful and reversed the charge for me. I guess I got lucky after reading other complaints. Bottom line for me is you don't send out a bill to someone 18 months after the rental ended, as that vehicle has been rented many times since. Don't let them screw you.

In April of 2021 this year budget rental car in Helena charged my credit card $5000 has still yet to fix it as they try to claim in 2 days I drove over 20000 miles over what I was allowed to drive with the car 1st of all that's physically impossible in 2 days secondly they still have not fixed this.

I have contacted them multiple times and because my credit card finally split the charge back at them after I had to file a police report in everything Now they are coming after me with collections I am looking for an attorney as I am ready to Sue them they have not made their mistake corrupted and instead they just keep digging.

This evening, i got off work and received a letter in my mailbox from budget rental dated 01/20/2021. The letter was in regards to my car rental on 10/07/2020, returned on 10/12/2020. The letter advised me that the car i had rented incurred, "glass form-loc:phoenix order:w/s cal: static damage." i have no idea what that verbiage means. An internet search for windshield "static damage," did direct me to a scamion.com.

This report details a similar letter that another budget rental car customer received. That customer, like me also disputes having caused damage to their car. To be specific, i am disputing that i caused any damage whatsoever to their car. When i returned the car, there was no glass damage. Any damage caused occurred after my rental was returned, not during my rental. The idea that budget would wait 3.5 months to contact a customer about damage to a car they believed i caused is utterly preposterous. If they noticed damage to a car caused by a customer, the customer notification should be made immediately on return of the car or at least within a reasonable amount of time.

3.5 months after the rental is neither reasonable or practical. Rather, it's a slap in the face and appears to me to be a money grab on their part. Maybe budget sends this type of letter out to a certain type of customer and that type of customer doesn't dispute the charges? Maybe budget does it enough times and there's just the right number of suckers who statistically pay budget because they haven't enough common sense to dispute bogus stuff like this? I really don't know what their end game is or why they would wait so long to notify someone. The "why," is almost inconsequential. Money seems the obvious answer. I can't accurately find any definition whatsoever for "static damage." more importantly, i didn't cause any damage to the windshield of that rental or any other glass component of the car.

Tonight, i called the phone number provided (1-800-984-9123). I spoke with "mario," at 5:08 pm pst and while he was digging into things, he disconnected the line. I called back and spoke with "tony." i spoke with tony around 5:25 pm pst. The one thing both tony and mario agreed on is that they were unable to find any "repair order," photos, or any other supporting documents outlining the damage to the car i rented back in october. To be fair, both "tony," and "mario," were professional in their communication and seemed sincere in the efforts to assist me. I was equally professional with them. For his part, "tony," disputed the $496.72 charge on my behalf.

He acknowledged his inability to find any documentation of substance regarding this claim taht budget made. "tony," told me that budget should be able to process my request. The budget letter states, "please be advised that the expense listed above will be applied to the credit or debit card that you presented at the time of rental approximately one week after the mailing date of this letter." my receipt of the letter was exactly 8 days after the writing of the letter on budget's behalf. If these repair costs are charged to my credit card, i will be disputing them with my credit card company. How they've handled this entire correspondence complete with the one week deadline after they mailed the letter actually disgusts me. I can't imagine doing future business with budget if i have a choice to do it anywhere with anyone else.

Complete rip off for a subjective charge assessed by a check-in clerk at Jacksonville, FL international airport. Was told by Budget customer service that sand in picture provided to me by Budget could not be vacuumed. What a load of crap.

Customer service rep and supervisor refused to waive this bogus charge. While I don't throw the word fraud around lightly, this one sure smacks of a policy that basically says - let's hit them with a ridiculous charge.

Charge will be disputed through by credit card - but I would not rent from Budget again on a bet.

I rented a vehicle last week of March for roughly a month and price was NO DIFFERENT than the daily rental rate. The vehicle was to be returned by me in 30 days, and I returned the said vehicle early by 10 days or so. The two boys in the office did not tell me I would not be refunded on the days I did not use when they checked in the car. When I inquired about the refund it was only then did the boys tell me there were no refunds. So I asked for the car back and they refused. NEVER would I have returned that car if I had known that because I could have used it for the rest of the time. They were DECEITFUL in NOT telling me the unused days would not be refunded to me and these two boys knew this when the took the keys from my possession. They discriminate against women because I know a man that returned his early with no problem. This Budget Rental located in the Country Inn and Suites is just disgusting the way they handle their customers. NEVER will I rent from them again, and I will post every where I can and will blast them every chance I get.

I rented an auto from Budget Rental at MSP. I am a FastBreak member as well. First the car when picked up was dirty on the interior. Foot prints on the dash, crap on the floor. Then when driving through winter weather, I learned it had NO washer fluid. I stopped and looked under the hood. Empty. Now since u am a FastBreak member, that means you pick up your contract and tells you what slot your rental is parked in, you do not stop at the desk. So when I got to my hotel I had called Budget and asked about how I can apply my earned Budget Bucks? Because of the early return would thete be an attendant at the counter at 3 am. I was told to call into Budget and they would apply the value of the Budget Bucks. When I called Budget to apply the voucher I was told it don't work like that you need to see the attendant. I explained the scenario with her on the phone and the answer I got was "There is nothing I can do, it doesn't work like that". I sent alot of vehicles, almost weekly, maybe it's time to go to another vendor. Apparently the bonuses that you earn are not really valued.

If I could give negative stars I would.

This company is probably one of the worst I have ever dealt with. I had a very important trip with my young son for him to play in Cooperstown, NY. I had reservations for over 1 month and took a private driver from my hotel to this location near LaGuardia Airport in NY, after staying in NYC for 4 days. My plan was for me to rent a car & drive to Cooperstown. I arrived on Friday, July 22, 2016 prior to my reserved time of 7am. The lady at the counter (don't know name, but have attached picture) was emotionless & had no interest in helping me out. She had an immediate attitude from the beginning & asked me for my drivers license & credit card. I gave her my license & VISA debit card. She said that they don't take debit cards & if so would have to pull a full credit report.

I asked her why and told her I've rented numerous times & have never had a problem + I was never told when I made the reservation that my VISA debit card would not suffice.

I am renting the car...NOT BUYING IT! I told her if it was a problem, I could pay the full rental amount up front. She didn't like my line of questioning & deciding to make me pay for it. She looked at her screen & said the credit report came back & was denied!!! Keep in mind that I never gave her my SSN. I thought she was kidding & she said no. I asked her how she was able to get a credit report without my SSN#? I also explained my situation & that my son & I needed to be in Cooperstown by the next morning & I had a child with me. She didn't care, so I asked for her manager. He wasn't any better. His name was Darius Caston - Budget Airport Manager. He didn't care & said it was a policy & I asked him if there was a way to bypass that or make an exception? He said no. I pleaded with him over & over again & explained that my son was outside & we had no other form of transportation! WE WERE STRANDED IN QUEENS, NY!! I asked for a business card & he didn't have one, so he wrote on someone else's card & handed it to me. I told him I will let everyone on social media know about my experience. We were not offered a shuttle ride to airport or anywhere else. That was it! ----- In trip planning, I had a car rental backup - which was Avis. However, when I received the manager's business card (see picture attached) I noticed that it said "avis budget group!"

So I called Avis & after being thrown around from rep to rep one c/s rep said that it was a new policy to not accept debit cards as deposit. I will never use Budget and/or Avis & will make sure I let everyone I know about my horrible experience. I would never wish this experience upon my worst enemy. I will email Budget Corporate & know the non-response or canned response I will get. I will not give up and will get an apology letter written to my son before this is over. After 2 hours of making phone calls I found Enterprise Car Rental in NY who rented to me without any problems and with the same Visa debit card that Budget turned down. It was also $200 cheaper - so it was a blessing in disguise! DON'T EVER USE BUDGET OR AVIS CAR RENTAL. This company has no respect or appreciation for it's customers & it's policies and not customer friendly.
