Avis Reviews

We just arrived at the airport on November 13, 2020 and and took two trains to get to a building of a terminal that had several rent a cars for guest arrivals from the Sea-Tac airport. My husband had assigned himself an suv at an affordable price that was around $250.00. But she (Tiombre) said she couldn't find the vehicle on the computer and that they had another vehicle in the car lot that was a jeep. But we needed a big car and had a navigator. We then kept searching with her and requested for a vehicle with a navigator and she said that the van that was available would have a navigator and charged us two hundred dollars more to the total of $395.00. We agreed and a van would accommodate several luggage we have to be able to get to our hotel one block away from Avis rent a car.

Once we went to the car lot which was several floors down and had to get in an elevator so that when we got to our van we were alone with the van. We went inside the van and there was no navigator to be found. Only a radio and electric car doors and fuel full of gas. We called the manager on my cell phone and complaint that Tiombre had overcharged us for the van with no navigator. He explained that once he searched the van we rented and our original car/SUV we wanted to rent was not available even though we reserved it one week before we have no rights and that they wanted to charge us another $195 to get to the car that had a navigator available for a new total of $590.00 we refused as we knew that we were getting trapped and COVID-19 was looming over us and the shutdowns were going to happen several more times and this business was eye-gouging anyone that walked into their business.

We had departed on November 20, 2020 still in despair about the car/auto reservation and not getting what we wanted close to the price that Tiombre had promised. We confirmed with her over and over again before we went to fetch our van that we don't want a car/SUV without a navigator. But instead, they kept charging us every time. My husband is 83 years old and I'm 60 years old and very experienced in traveling and familiar with airports and how to treat the staff at the airport courteously. They totally messed up on us and I don't think they care about the bad reviews.

Deceptive pricing. First price shown does not include taxes fees.

As you continue clicking the next price displayed is "estimated prepaid total". You will only see the total price *after* you reserve, which will charge your credit card (at which point, you're screwed, because now you cannot back out).

After your credit card is charged, the total prepaid (not the estimated prepaid) charge is shown. It is significantly more.

And now, there is a cancellation fee involved--$50. So, they get you for $50 after they show you a deceptive price, the "estimated" price.

Rented a Audi A6 from Frankfurt Airport Avis and reutned after 3 days. During the trip we had no collissions, scrapes or rubs on any part of the car. When we were processing our return, on oddly motivated man with cameras and other equipment walked immediately to the front air dams and ran his hand across the underside. He then called a supervisor over and they spoke agreeably in German.

I was then notified that damage needed to be documented. I asked what damage and how this was possible? They said they are accusing no one but it must be documented. After several dozen pictures along side a size-reference tool that was held up to the "damage, the individual then tunred his attention to the trunk where he identified some small rubbing marks.

We could see that we were being scammed and the proof came when they place $1,000 Euro of body damage onmy reciept. Thankfully I purschased the full insurance so it zeroed out but this is a well known scam and I would avoid renting from this airport. I read dozens of reviews where people paid our of pocket sums, typically between 800 - 1200 Euro. I dont know what the version of a class action law suit in German is, but surely this cannot go on.

I have previously rented from Avis and although the ezpass box was closed and we paid cash for the tolls, we were later charged toll fees for our three day rental. The issue was resolved. This time we rented a car for a week to drive from Philadelphia to Florida. We completely removed the ez pass and put it in my Philadelphia Home. We went through all toll booths with cashiers and of course, we paid in cash. Although there was no ezpass in the vehicle, we were somehow miraculously charge over 23.00 for tolls. This confirms that Avis etoll is committing fraud. If anyone wants to use their ezpass it should have to be placed in the car like when you rent a car seat. They need to remove these boxes from all of their vehicles. I do intend to file a complaint with the Attorney general.

I rented a car from Avis for 8 days from Barcelona Airport between dates of 12/06/2016 and 20/06/2016. They charged 72 pounds from my bank card and they said that it will be refunded once I return the car with full tank.

I returned my car with full tank and now they say that the tank was fully empty and I need to prove that I fueled the tank.

I know that big companies like Avis should have its own check-balance systems to protect their customers. For example, when I go to a 5-star hotel, I don't need to prove that I didn't steal the towels or I don't need to prove that I didn't drink from the fridge of the hotel room. Somehow they have their systems to protect their customers from the wrongdoings of its own employees.

Now, I am sure that I fueled the tank fully. Because, I wander around the airport to find a gas station and once I found it, I fueled it with the amount that I thought it will be enough to make it full. But, I saw that it is 1 bar missing than the full, so I paid another 5 Euros to make it full and I returned the car that way. The name of the gas station was cepsa on the right of the way through the terminal T1.

It is very disappointing that Avis is not returning my money back and demanding proof from me. I am spending so many minutes and hours to reach some responsible through phone and email to get my money back.

If it is the way that Avis is working by asking proof from customers, they have serious problems with their system. I don't have the proof, because I didn't know that I will have to prove it.

I am sure that what they are doing to me is a felony, not just some simple mistake, but unfortunately I am not living in Spain to chase for it.
