AVI-SPL, Inc. Reviews

  • Feb 2, 2018

In July of 2017, we were contracted by AVI-SPL to install classroom display systems for Nova Southeastern University in their HPD Annex new building. The project was to take approx 2-3 weeks which we budgeted for but soon after we started, the project ran into problems and lack of management as the build to drawings were incomplete, equipment to be installed was not all present and in some cases not even ordered. This lead to a longer onsite timeframe which our company absorbed those costs even though it wasnt our fault. There was very little if any engineering support or project management support. They didnt even order cables for this project and told us to rummage through their existing stock and use what we could.

We completed the project exactly as the drawings stated and worked with their engineers to make sure there was connectivity before we left site as it was up to them to make the system work, we were only handling the installation portion of the project based on their drawings that they provided.

At the time of our departure from site, the only thing left was for AVI-SPL to complete the programming.

After our departure from site, no communication was given to us regarding any issues with installation and we spoke to the representative at Nova SE University and they were pleased with the work that we performed. The client was working with the programmers to get the system running but our side of the project was satifactory completed.

On August 29, we have not heard anything from AVI-SPL so we submitted invoices for all of the classrooms we completed. In early October, after not hearing anything invoiced for the remaining labs. No response from AVI-SPL other than they were still programming the system. We have repeatedly reached out for updates on our invoices (total of 9 of them) and we consistanly get no response from the project manager (John Erdle) and operations manager (Ed Cordozo) of the deerfield beach facility of AVI-SPL. We have also reached out to corporate accounts payable who in turn sends us back to the non-responsive deerfield beach facility.

It is our belief that AVI-SPL really screwed this project up as they had their own employees quit during this project and could not get the programming completed to the satisfaction of the client and end user (Nova Southeastern University) so they are trying to make up their margins by screwing the people who performed the work.

In our discussions with Nova Southeastern University, they stated that they are unhappy with the manangement and response from AVI-SPL and will not be using any of their services in the future.

I strongly urge any potential customer to avoid using AVI-SPL and any contractor to avoid performing any work for AVI-SPL as they will have difficulty getting paid at the completion of the project. The incompetance of the managment in this office is unimaginable.

We welcome any other subcontractors of AVI-SPL that have had the same thing happen to them to share their story as I am sure we are not the only ones. We also welcome and will participate in any class action lawsuit or media interview to tell our story to all that will listen.

This is our story, one that is still not concluded as we now plan to take legal action against AVI-SPL for the approx $23,500.00 owed to National AV Installations. We will update as we move forward with any progress or updates as they occur.
