I am filing the complaint on the bahalf of someone else: This attorney has been ignoring the calls of his client and refusing to file motions. It is as if he is working for the other side. The client has been incarcerated since august and has never received a copy of his discovery, so he cannot properly defend himself. The client had me file this complaint on his behalf in an attempt to get some type of assistance from the attorney of record. He attempted to represent himself and is unable to do so, as per the judge. He must have a competent lawyer who is actually working in his best interest. This is a matter of life and death and cannot be treated as a game. All people have the right to a proper defense and he has no way of knowing how to defend himself without even the bare bones of representation being had. He had written up all of his own motions and the lawyer ignores them all and wont file any on his behalf. I want to ensure no one else has to go through such a hardship. The client should not be ignored for so long and the lawyer should not be working for the other side. The law requires a copy of the discovery be given to the appropriate party to prepare a defense, it has not happened. The law requires the lawyer to work in the best interest of the client, this has not happened. There has got to be a way to have your lawyer act like your lawyer. I am doing what I can to ensure this doesn't happen to anyone else.
