AAMCO Transmissions, Inc. Reviews

  • Feb 7, 2024

I had ROGER the owner take a look at my axle that I replaced and come to find out I made a mistake, so the part had to be replaced. Roger called me about 4pm to tell me what it would cost, and the problem needed to fix it correctly. Based on this information I verbally agreed by phone to have the repairs done, which was the Right passenger axle and the new seal. Roger stated the new part would be in tomorrow and I said I'd like to examine the new part against the old part, but he hung up on me before he heard me. I called the next morning around 830am to let them know I need to see the new part before they replace it to compare it and see what happened. I get there after the part was received and he told me I have 30 seconds to look at it in a Haughty voice. I was a lil bit taken aback by his customer service engagement with me by him as the OWNER in front of his staff. So, I said OK go ahead and fix it and let me know when its ready. So, they call me later that day, I ordered an Uber to drop me off at their location. I go in and they charged me a CREDIT PROCESSING FEE of $19 on the bill not understanding that I'm paying in cash, Hmmm! I had them take that FEE off and they did. I also requested the old parts and ROGER stated that they threw the brand-new Seal part away that they should've shown me, but they did give me the new Axle I put in and I observed the issue based on my fault. I paid and wrote down PAYING UNDER PROTEST on the bill and ROGER got mad at me for doing so and told me to get THE f**k out of his business or I'll call the Sheriff. So, I said sir I'll wait until they come so they can see how CRAZY you are with a customer who simply wanted ALL of his old Parts Back. Roger called the police 2 times on me within a span of 10 minutes and manufactured a LIE that I threatened his LIFE, which never happened. I asked ROGER why you have a buzzer on a Public Service Business, and he told me none of my business. Hmmm NASTY ATTITUDE.

I met with Dan, he said no problem we will have you fixed and back on the road in 2-3 days and quoted me a price of $3,800 - $4,800.00. Ammco had my vehicle for a total of 35 days and charged me $9,760.74 and my truck was still inoperable. They refuse to give me a refund

The Manager tol me the Estimate was $2000. I run A Moving Company. After a few Days the Manager told me the Estime told me the Extimate is $2200 and to Estimate went up to $4100. He said the truck needed additional Parts. I spoke with Manager and he told me he couldn't complete fixing the truck but that was all he could do.The truck will not go over 40 miles per

I took my 2012 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid into the Pantego, Tx transmission shop on 2/5/2021 and did NOT get my car back until 2/6/2022. No, that is not a typo, the dates are correct. The car went back and forth 4 times over a period 1 year, meanin that had the car for about 11 out of 12 months.

The car was not wanting to drive and doing hard start/stops, jerking and shaking. We took the car there thinking it was a transmission issue. They diagnosed it as a transmission issue and they told me I need to get a new transmission, so that is what we did. We originally thought it was the hybrid battery but it was brand new and no issues.

They replaced the transmission with a rebuilt transmission and charged us just over $3800. We got the car back, drove it home and within a couple of days the started doing the same thing. They said something came loose they fixed it and should be good. Sure enough same thing, they towed it away and we never saw it again.

Finally after a few months, they said a part had gone bad, it was not apart of the transmission but they would get it fixed with no charge. No in all of my life has you ever heard of any place doing major repairs for free??? Free because they screwed something up and now were trying to cover their tracks and fix it.

Now keep in mind the original mechanic that worked on my car has now been fired. He obviously messed something up and now the shop was having to fix the mess up. The problem is now that they dont know what he did and they cant figure it out and now saying it wasnt the transmission and that it is a part that gives energy to the hybrid battery to the trasmission vice versa or some mumbo jumbo like that.

He now tells us that the car needs another part called a traction motor and he is frustruted with us so much that he refuses to order the part and tells us to do. He says he found the part but we will have to order it and pay for it and he didnt leave me any other choice. So he gives me a part #...I called gave the part # and they delievered it.

They put the part on and a 3 weeks later says that the part was damaged in transit and he has been going back and forth with the parts warranty department to get me reimbursed. The warranty department said that he waited so long to report any damage and now it is not going to be under warranty.

Now keep in never told me the part was damaged until almost 3 weeks later and I asked if it was damaged then why wasnt the part shop notified immediately and returned to get another one as a replacement. He would never give me a direct answer. I contacted the parts store and they said he never notified them or spoke with him and the transmission that i bought was in good condition.

I told him the part # i gave was for a traction motor not a transmission. The parts guy said...no he told you it was called a traction motor but he had you buy a used transmission. Yeah so basically he lied about the part, conned me into buying a used transmission so he could get a part off of it to fix the car. He got it put on and guess what ....drove it home and car broke down, again.

They towed it back and now says that it is some kind of pump that has gone out and it was going to cost me over $700 and I would have to pay it all up front and he would reimburse me for half. Now again, if the transmission shop wasnt at fault at all then why would they offer to pay for half of the part?

At this point I was able to reach Mr. Mike Pekula at Aamco Corporate office and told him the situation and he reached out to the Pantego shop and told them that Aamco was paying for the pump part and to get it put on to get our car back to us. So we got the car back on 2/6/2002. Please keep in mind that my husband used this car for work and has now lost almost 1 year of income/lost wages due to them keeping our car for so long.

So we did not have the money right away to get it inspected and re-registered since it expired while in Aamco's possesion and insurance on it again. They told us when we get it inspected and registered to drive it for 1-2 weeks to and bring in in. We were driving it as he told us after getting it registered and it broke down on 6/5/2022. They towed it to there shop on 6/6/2022.

They are now saying it has something to do with the hybrid system and is not a transmission issue and it is not covered under the warranty for the repairs they did. It is doing the exact same thing from the very start. So if it is not a transmission issue then why did I pay over $3800 for a rebuilt transmission and then get conned into buying a 2nd transmission for over $1700.

Oh and did I mention that the $3800 rebuilt transmission is not even on the car...they gave it to us. So basically we paid for that transmission for nothing and they put on the used $1700 transmission. DO NOT GO TO THIS SHOP! IF YOU WANT TO KEEP YOUR CAR...GO ELSEWHERE! I called the Aamco Corporate office on and spoke to Mr. Pekula's replacement Mr. Quinn Callahan.

He returned my call on 6/8/2022 and said he would reach out to the Pantego shop and would contact me back. I have called every day since then and I have left voicemails and no one will call me back, not one person not even Mr. Callahan as he stated he would.

Now they want to give the car back as is and refusing to fix what they broke. I have emails and receipts of everything that has been done to this car. Looking for a laywer or media to expose this shop as a RIP OFF!!!!!!

I took my car in to AAmco last year tosee what was needed to fix check engine light. They told me that 4 codes showed up. $95 to tell me how much to repair. Technician ballparked $750. Ithen took car ao a Toyota Dealer and they said only one code appeared and they charged me a little over $200 to repair.

I had my transmission rebuilt (1992 Dodge Dakota 4x4) at the end of January, 2001 at the AAMCO franchise located at 2445 Pembina HWY, Winnipeg, Manitoba. After only 8000km, on December 14th, the transmission failed. I brought brought my truck in and the technician and the centre manager both assured me that the repair was fully covered by my AAMCO warranty and should be ready by the 19th. On December 19th the centre manager, Doug Gagnon, told me that the franchise owner, Don Klassen, was refusing to honour any warranties including my own.

The reason? It turns out that Mr. Klassen, the owner of both AAMCO franchises in Manitoba, had closed one outlet earlier in December and was planning to close the centre on Pembina HWY on December 31st.

The customer relations agent, responsible for Canadian franchises, at AAMCO head office in Pennsylvania was absolutely no help and continues to spout the line that AAMCO will honour the warranty - she just had to speak with Mr. Klassen. Needless to say, Mr. Klassen has no intentions to speak to AAMCO or anyone else. There are several customers from both franchise locations that Mr. Klassen has refused rightful warranty service. In fact, at least one of the customers was recently sold an extended AAMCO warranty on a vehicle that was ineligible for such a warranty and now has his car sitting at the above franchise location with a blown transmission. Mr. Klassen just suckered him out of $270 for something he never intended to provide just to line his own pocket for Christmas.

So, with the doors about to close, myself and other customers are out walking in the cold of a Winnipeg winter without our vehicles throughout the Christmas season.

I urge all who read this to avoid AAMCO at all costs - they'll just steal your Christmas.

On October 8, 2020 I contacted Aamco Transmission and I spoke to the new shop manager, who did not give me his name, just said that he was the shop manager.

Anyhow it was regarding the warranty on my transmission that they had installed on my 2006 Audi Last year, and he rudely commented to me that my transmission is out of warranty and that I got two transmissions from them, so that’s to bad my transmission went out again. I proceeded to explain to him that my transmission is still under warranty, but he hung up on me before I could get a word in. So, I called back and quickly told him to have the owners call me before he hung up again. How professional is that manager wow? So, then I contacted Melony Brighton at Aamco’s corporate office in Pennsylvania. She then called Aamco of Puyallup and without really listening to myside and allowing me to show her proof that my car should have still been under warranty, she did not want to take the time to do her research and listen to a customer that just spent over $6,000 on a transmission job that went badly wrong. Instead she calls me back and vagally said well your car is not under warranty, so they said. There is nothing that she can do.

The situation with my car is that last year I was working with shop manager Dan, whom they fired for all his mistakes and dealings regarding my car and possibly other customers.

Dan quotes me $4450. On 1/24/19 I paid Dan $100.00 and I was to give him a little more each week, till they got at least half down to start working on my car. Months go by and I figure, why not apply for an Aamco loan to speed up the process. Dan helps me apply for the loan and I needed a cosigner. So, I get my mom to apply and she lives in Hawaii. My mom qualified for $2500. We make it happen that got the ball rolling.

Then on June 28, 2019 Easy pay loan company paid $2500. August 5, 2019, I paid $1000 cash,

August 10, 2019, I paid $500 by visa and $800 cash. Dan forgot to apply the $100 I paid him in January, which I had paid by visa, so he asks me for a copy of my receipt. So far, I paid $4900. I ask Dan why I was charged $450 more from what he had quoted me. He said because the transmission he received cost a little more then the original one that he first ordered. He had to send back because it was the wrong one. I did not care at that time; I just wanted my car back. I sign some paperwork and we go over warranty, Dan said that they normally give me 12 months but since I waited a long time for my car, he will give me 18 months.

Saturday August 10, 2019 as I drive my car home, my car starts to feel rocky and sounded like a windmill, it feels like it was slipping again, like it did when I first brought it to Aamco. As soon as I get home, I call Dan and tell him about my car. Dan tells me since there closed on Sundays to drop the car off first thing Monday morning. I drop the car off Sunday night and leave the keys in there drop box. I had my car for only one day and back to the transmission shop it goes. I do not here from Dan Monday or Tuesday. Finally got a hold of him Wednesday. Dan tells me that I need a new transmission. I said what, you just installed a new transmission, he said that one was faulty, and he cannot get credit for it. Dan now must order another transmission at there expense since I already paid for the first one.

Weeks go by and I do not here anything or even a return call after I left them a dozen messages. I then go to Aamco, its almost September 2019 and Dan looked like a nervous rec. I ask him about my car he said well transmission is in and now I need a new radiator, I said what? How much more do I have to pay for the radiator. He said $500 out the door taxes included. It is almost October and I cannot get a hold of anyone at Aamco regarding the timeline of my radiator. So, I go there, and I do not see Dan or the tech. that worked on my car, but a lot of bosses and the owner of the company. Did not look good.

Aamco of Puyallup was overwhelmed with cars and they Stayed closed for about 2 weeks and had some gal name Trish working at the front desk, who I am now dealing with. Trish tells me that before they install my radiator, they need some down payment. I then tell her that it has been weeks and Dan was to order my radiator. She informed me that Dan is on a permanent vacation. So, at that time I was just going to take my car home and order a radiator and install it myself. Trish tells me if I take my car home without Aamco installing the radiator that Aamco was not going to warranty my transmission. So, I gave her $120 cash as a down payment to order and install the radiator.

On October 16, 2019 was when I finally got to bring my car home after I had to pay them $620.20 even after I paid them $120 for a down payment and on my transmission bill I had a quote from Dan saying $500 out the door. They told me that Dan no longer works here so they are not going to honor the quote that was printed on their letter head.

CONCLUSION of my CASE: I was quoted $4450 but paid $4900 transmission 1 I had for one day and it turned out to be faulty. Was quoted $500 for a radiator but was charged $620.20 and $120 deposit

In total paid Aamco $5640.20 for this transmission job that included a new radiator and 2 axels. Only for transmission 2 to go out in 9 months. And Aamco refused to warranty this transmission. The new manager said that my warranty expired in August. They never updated their records to show that this transmission in question is a second one and I did not pick up my car from them until October 2019. Which makes my car still under warranty?

I had to move back home to Las Vegas to be with my family because of this pandemic I could not get my car in to an Aamco shop until September/October. I had my car towed from Washington to Las Vegas in begging of June 2020. I then took my car to a Las Vegas Audi dealership and there report sad that I had a bad transmission from Aamco installed code was P1741 fault the same code that my original Audi transmission read as well as the 1st transmission that they installed and what a coincidence the 2nd transmission read the same code. 3 transmission s reads the same code. I think that Dan was fired because he cost Aamco a lot of money by taking short cuts, like trying to maybe repair my original broken transmission so that he could pocket the cash I was paying him with.

I NEED AAMCO TO APROVE MY WARRENTY SO I CAN FINALLY GET MY CAR UP AND RUNNING AGAIN. I SPENT A LOT OF TIME AND MONEY ON SUITING UP THIS CAR TO JUST LET IT SIT AND GO TO WAIST BECAUSE AAMCO WAS TRYING TO RIP ME OFF. AND WHO KNOPWS HOW MANY OTHER CUSTOMERS THAT AAMCO OF PUYALLUP THEY STOLE FROM. PLEASE APPROVE THIS REPAIR TO THE AAMCO SHOP ON RAINBOW DRIVE IN LAS VEGAS NEVADA OR EVEN APROVE THE REPAIR AT MY NEAREST AUDI DEALER SO THAT IT CAN BE DONE RIGHT.

I took my 2014 truck in for a hesitation when shifting and the check engine light was on. John made me leave the truck and he would call me.

John never called so the next day I called he told me I had a major transmisson failure and would cost $3800.00. He was very disrespectful when I told him I was getting a second opinion and said he could fix the problem if I would leave it that day for $1900.00.

I took it to the dealer right up the street and they replaced a shift sensor for $125.00. The service adviser at the dealer told me that Aamco has a reputation for being dishonest its the owner John Mangan not his managers.

Stay away go to your local dealer or independent auto repair shop.

I am the kind of customer that any well established and decent business loves to have. Do me right, and I am yours for life. AAMCO in Auburn, WA was right down the street from my office in Auburn, WA. As such, I would take my vehicles there for any and all work I needed done.

I own 3 cars myself, there are a total of 7 in my family. I had 8 employees that all took their cars to them, my clients which number in the 2000's were at one time or another told about them as I wholeheartedly believe in "word of mouth" I do not believe in wasting $$$ on advertising, when I can either tell people about good companies or I can hear of them from them also.

I had literally spent thousands of dollars on things from tune ups, to tires, shocks, oil changes, etc... So when my 1996 GMC K1500 needed a transmission, I didn't think twice about having AAMCO replace it. Now, I had built a relationship with the then manager of the shop and after a discussion about price, time, warranty, yes waranty, I decided to spend the just under $4000.00 to have a rebuilt trans.

installed on my truck. Cool. HE told me it would take about 4-5 days, and there would be a lifetime parts and labor warranty along with it. How can one go wrong with a lifetime warranty?

I would give this place no stars if I could. They overcharged me for transmission work that would had been less expensive at the dealership. Chris is a scammer. Please BEWARE OF THIS PLACE! I had a jar full of change in my center console.

When I picked up my car, the change had disappeared. He told me that they are not responsible for items left in cars. The change belonged to my six year old daughter. Stay away, buyer beware!

Very bad experience with aamco transmissions. Some time ago, our car was giving us a problem. My dad found out what it was that broke, which had nothing to do with the transmission. He took it to aamco. They advertised that they work on other parts of the car.

They said the transmission needed a total rebuild. After the "repair" the car never worked the same and ended up with the same issue as it originally had. I would never use aamco transmissions for any reason.

My husband had some work done at ammco at 6629 lomas the owner john mangan overcharged my husband for the work they claimed he did my husband didnt even get 500 miles before he lost 3rd an 4th gear so the owner john mangan told him to have it brought in that he would have an open bay for it which he lied an had it parked outside.

My husbands blazer was stolen at 8pm at night john mangan has notifications on his phone to alert him with activity that goes on at ammco. John never called the police or my husband until the next day which is fishy to me. Why wouldnt you call especially since you get notifications on your phone?

So the next day my husband is there and also an investiagator are there, john starts yelling to my husband you know that guy hes there for the motor. My husband was looking at the video and says i dont know that guy, then john states he has hit me before its the same guy in front of the investigator.

So my husband has a witness to that statement that the owner john gave as to why that guy was there. the owener had that guy come and steal the blazer for that motor. Alot of things arent adding up in this is you look at the video you know exactly whats going on. The thief was there for a long time, people going by and driving and walking an noone does anything.

The thief even goes across the street in the video to ask the guy for help to get the blazer out but the guy delclines to help the owner, gave a copy of the video to the investigator and my husband he john also moves one of the vehicles that was touched by the thief before the investigator could get back.

Hes obstructing justice an tampering with a crime scene which i think the f*cker needs to be put in jail for my husband had over 17,000 just in the motor not counting he just put tires an rims which cost another 1,000 he just bought a few days before taking it back to ammco. That piece of garbage charged my husband almost 3,000 an it wasnt fixed right.

Hes a rip off an scam artist he needs not to be in business when the news when to inteview him all of a sudden he knows nothing of why the thief was there for my husbands blazer. He plays stupid saying on channel 4 that they steal tires from the tire shop down the way hes trying to push all blame somewhere else.

Denny is another liar ammco sold my husband a warranty so he took it back there with no idea what was going to happen next that these pieces of garbage were going to steal my husbands blazer for that motor. when my husband went back to talk to him one of the workers came out an said you had a bad a*s motor you need to sue the owner he has insurance.

also when i went back with my husband john starts telling us that he has a carry conceal liscense. we took that as a threat, why we need to know that he has a carry conceal is wierd to me. he knows what happened my husband has had sleepless nights going on about this blazer he had his heart an soul in the blazer contacting the investigators about not letting this go.

john mangan said he wasnt responsible for what happened when in fact he is it was in his care he told my husband that he was responsible for the two vehicles in btwn which in fact belonged to john mangan. the two vehicles this was in fact a set up he left it outside for the guy to steal in front of the cameras to make it look good

when he gets notifications an did nothing till the next day then he moves the vehicle this john needs to be punished for all the bad things he has done to all these hard working people ripping them off i dont even know why this piece of s**t is in business still he needs to be put out of business DO NOT TRUST THIS BUSINESS AT ALL DO NOT GO TO AMMCO ON LOMAS 6629 LOMAS NE ON CRIME STOPPERS THEY HAVE THE BLAZER AS STOLEN FROM DAKOTA AN FLORIDA THE AMMCO IS BY THE STATE FAIR GROUNDS

DO NOT TRUST THESE PEOPLE THEY ARE THIEVES AN LIARS AN NOT TO BE TRUSTED

HE DIDNT EVEN TRY TO MAKE THINGS RIGHT WITH MY HUSBAND HES GOING TO PAY ONE WAY OR ANOTHER

DENNY YOU LIAR!! OMG I am terrified to pick up my van after reading all the Negative experiences others have had I just found!!! I would give MINUS 10Stars if I could!!! On Wednesday May 9th ,1018 I paid $338.00 out of pocket to have my car towed from Las Vegas New Mexico to the AAMCO on 6629 Lomas BLVD zip87110 after getting a great speech from "Denny" about how my car would be professionally fixed in about 4 days if it did indeed need a whole transmission replacement. I called today May 16th and was told my car would be ready today and because I needed a train ride to Albuquerque I said I would be there on the 17th as the train would arrive in Albuquerque at 3:55pm afternoon and I would taxi there as Denny said it was up to me to get there to pick up the car of course before 5:00pm. The man I spoke with said he would have Dennie call. I finally called HIM at about 3:12pm and Denny answered the phone. He said my transmission had only arrived after lunch TODAY May16th/2018 and he would give me "a call on the following Monday May 21st!!! What a LIAR!!! I am so mad as I told him I have a 96yrold husband up here in the mountains of Las Vegas NM and we have a FIRE danger!!! I am terrified now of what condition my car will be in as all my trust of AAMCO is GONE!!!! The other person there at the shop told me he would pick me up at the train station about 10minutes away. OMG Please THINK and look at the negative reviews before EVER EVER trusting someone's BS Denny style who is just after your money. Susan B posted 5/16/2018 THIS IS THE ONLY BAD REVIEW I HAVE EVER POSTED BUT I WANT TO WARN OTHERS OF THIS LIAR Susan B posted 5/16/2018

I took my 2007 Ford F-150 to aamco in Wilmington Ma , was greeted by Anthony and told they would call me when they knew what was wrong with my truck . I got a call later that day saying I needed a transmission rebuild and cooler lines and maybe a torque converter. 2300 without converter and worst case scenario 2700 !! I asked 2 times because Anthony talks in circles. Worst case 2700 !! Ok I agreed at that price to have work done ! I get a call 2 days later from Anthony, do I want the bad news or the good news ? He says transmission is out but I need another part that’s going to cost 1000 more ! After saying you told me worst case 2700 his is this possible? This part is on outside of transmission he says ! But he will do it at cost . It was my cooler lines but he told me about those when I got first amount . I said whatever, my transmission is out so I have no choice do I ! S0 he said come over and he would show me what he was talking about, I emailed him a day later and said just do the cooler lines , he says it’s a electric sensor , won’t know if I need cooler lines until transmission is off the truck ? I said you told me it was off already so I get a feeling he don’t know who he is talking to . So I agreed to have them fix the problem. I pick up my truck and I’m given a 12 month, 12000 mike warranty, I notice on booklet he gave me a rebuilt transmission gets a 18 month 18000 mile warranty and I’m still trying to get this fixed . Now I get in my truck and notice right away it sounds louder and drives different, I told them next day they said my computer was relearning . Well it started slipping and shifting hard in all gears and no power in overdrive on highway . They took it and said that nothing was wrong, that it was the powerful parts they used and if I don’t like it they can put ford parts in , I drove it for a while and took it back after trying for a month to get a day they could take me . I asked talk to owner and a refund and they took truck in to fix it . Now the owner calls me and says they did find a transmission issue but my shaking issue on highway is motor mounts and a ball joint !! Now they said they did a full inspection on my truck before they did original work and truck was perfect , now it has all these issues! I call bull ! Stay away from this place ! They are liars

My parents took their car to this AAMCO Company in Phoenix, Arizona in February due to some repairs needed in February. We are in the middle of March and they still have not completed repairs. The owner David Banker has been extremely rude, unprofessional and demanding. He has been extremely difficult to work with and will not release the vehicle. On 03/11/18, we received a notice in the mail that the car was towed from an apartment complex. According to the towing company, this happens all the time with this specific company. The car was taken back to the repair shop and we don’t know if any of the repairs were complete. We have to take his word? After the car was towed and all the inconsistencies it’s hard to trust this owner. We have contacted the police department, and our lawyer for assistance with this matter. This company is very shady and everyone needs to stay clear from this company. I am writing this to protect others.

If you like being lied to, learn the latest lines of BS, and you're OK with wasting TONS of time....this is your place. For all others, I'd highly recommend that you stay away.

I see several people have expressed their dissatisfaction on Yelp with this store and the service. Ironically, my experience was all but the same so no need to repeat the same story. Dave, the shop manager, lied several times and is just a piece of work. Mike Tanner, the owner, obviously allows Dave to do what he pleases. As I told Mike, Dave is a reflection on him and I have no idea how Dave is still employed there. I've had numerous conversations with Aamco corporate and even mailed the president, Brett Ponton in an attempt to get the warranty extended to another local Aamco location...but no such luck. The so called warranty that they include is only good at the location where you had the initial work done...regardless if you have issues and don't trust the shop...like me and several others. It's a one way ticket to keep going back to same location and deal with the same crap...unless you want to go 40 miles.

Just know if you go here...add on at least a week from what the promise you, your car will sit on the street where day laborers will use it as a place to sit, eat, or take a nap on your hood. It will stay parked on the street over night...unsecured. The work quality will be suspect at best. I have another 6 months left on my warranty but I refuse to go back. I'll probably have to pay another $2,500 to a different mechanic...never going back to Aamco. I encourage anyone to search the internet for reviews. Just be aware.

On February 8th 2017 I brought my truck in for a tranny rebuild, the quote they gave me was through the roof close to $3,500.00. I politely asked if they could do it for $3,000.00 I'd drop the truck off immediately, Brandon agreed to the $3,000.00 with no questions at all, he never mentioned anything about shortcuts or anything of the sort, I had the truck towed to AAMCO in Dover DE 0n Feb the 8th 2017 I didn't get my truck back until the end of March. Again the trans started slipping, it went into failsafe mode and the trans overheated beyond what the temperature should normally be. This was on May 1, 2017. Around the end of Dec beginning of Jan once again for the 3rd time " 3s a charm" I heard a noise come from under my feet at witch point I thought it was the tranny again, once again there goes my truck on a flat bed tow truck back to AAMCO, I received a call from Brandon explaining to me that it was the possi rear that had busted, his " was you had to hit something real hard for this to break" I told him I don't go 4 wheeling, I didn't hit any thing, and didn't try ripping out stumps, he proceeded to give me an estimate for aprox mid to high $3000.00 range, my rear end in this truck had been replaced aprox 3-5 months before the trans was done, so it was still under warrantee I took the truck back to the mechanic who did my rear to begin with at witch point he told me there was nothing wrong with my rear end at all. So now here I am with a truck with a blown tranny again. Now I'm just waiting on a call back from AAMCO corporate.

On February 15, 2015 My 2003 Acura MDX transmission failed.I took it to AAMCO TRANSMISSION 3674 W Ina road in Tucson. They told me my transmission had to be completely rebuild and it would take about a week. They billed me for $3, 789.00 Steve, the service manager assured me my care would be well cared for and they would warranty the parts and labor for 12,000 miles. On June 26, 2017 just outside Phoenix the transmission over heating light came on and and the car wouldn’t move forward. The car had 27, 000 miles recorded since AAMCO TRANSMISSION REBUILT THE TRANSMISSON.

I had my MDX towed to Allstate Transmission to evaluate the problem. They evaluated my problem and told me the transmission would have to be rebuilt a second time. They explained that in their opinion AAMCO TRANSMISSION did not follow the Acura transmission recall specifications published on September 13, 2013 and that’s why the transmission failed a second time. On June 27, 2017, I wrote a complaint on YELP (Yellow Pages reviews) complaining that after only 27,000 miles my AAMCO TRANSMISSION FAILED. There was a posted by the anomalous owner of AAMCO saying my complaint was a lie and I had no proof of this claim. The following day I received a call from Luis saying he was the owner of AAMCO.

He asked me how I obtained my information. I told him that Allstate Transmission told me, Luis called Allstate and was told the same information. Allstate Transmission wrote on the invoice; "Inspection of the transmission found that the master rebuilt kit was installed and the torque converter was replaced. Unfortunately, none of the critical corrected updated parts were installed and the transmission housing was not machined and sleeved. Had this work been done, I don’t believe there would have been a transmission failure.” Through a few follow up conversations, Luis finally offered to settle with me for $800. 00 in free labor at AAMCO. I told him, "Why would I trust to do more work on my car when your transmission didn’t last more the 27,000 miles.

Luis replied by saying, " Anything more than $800 is to rich for my blood.” I told him I would have to think about, but given that I paid $3,789.00 I didn’t feel his offer was fair. I wondered why he was being so obtuse about my complain. I discovered that my complaint on YELP had been removed/ Apparently, if a vender advertises with Yellow Pages they can get bad reviews removed. In my opinion, Luis is an unethical business man who assumes no responsibility for the quality of transmission services his company provides. Review about: Aamco Car Repair. Reason of review: Poor customer service. Monetary Loss: $3784. Preferred solution: Full refund. I didn't like: Unethical independent owner.

On Monday, September 4, 2017 I had my car towed from my home to AAMCO.

I spoke to the shop manager David Garcia over the phone and explained that my car had stalled and there was an error code on my gauge indicating "CHECK VSC" with an exclamation mark diagram. The check engine light and the airbag light were also lit up.

After speaking to David briefly the next day, he assured me that his technician was running a diagnostic of the problem and they have determined the problem to be the alternator and battery and that needed to be replaced. (Alternator: $350 and Battery: $150 plus Labor: $100)

After 3 days of not hearing from David, I called him back only to find out that all parts were replaced but the car was still throwing error codes. The bill is now going to be $1500 to repair the transmission. I said if that was the total bill then I go ahead with the necessary repairs. He also reassured me that it would be no more than $1500 which included the labor, towing, alternator and battery replacement. He spoke rapidly and used a lot of mechanical jargons that conflicted with his original diagnostic but I was already committed to the replacement of battery and alternator. So I told him to go ahead with the repairs of the transmission if this was indeed the root cause of the problem. He said it would be completed in four days.

It is now two weeks into the repair and several phone call attempts, I was finally able to speak briefly to David. He explained that a rebuilt transmission and a rebuilt torque converter were replaced but the check engine light and error codes were still present even after several attempts to reset these codes. There are now layers after layers of unnecessary repairs completed on my car but we still have error codes.

He then explained to me that he believes the error codes were due to a faulty ECU. He said he knows an expert in Santa Ana who works on these types of problem and that he would make arrangements to with John at Autotech to run a complete diagnostic of my car and that John can and will fix everything.

It is now 3.5 weeks into the repairs. A refurbished ECU, a valve body assembly installed and labor to remove, rebuild and to reinstall amounted to $3050.69. Mind you, I’ve only agreed to the $1500 transmission repairs. At this point all I wanted was my car to be returned. David said if I wanted my car back then I can come in and pay for it. I went to the shop to pick up my car. The minute I drove off his lot, all warning lights were turned on.

Enough was enough! I drove immediately to Lexus of South County. I spoke to the service advisor about all the replacement and work done on my car with AAMCO and my car is still unsafe and inoperable to drive. I had my car at AAMCO for a month now and they have done nothing to repair my car except for unnecessary repairs with surmounted to nothing but a higher bill.

It only took Lexus two days to identify that the mass air flow sensor was not calibrating with the gas mixture causing the check engine light to go on and thus shutting down the electrical system of the vehicle. The mass air sensor was replaced and the car operates flawlessly.

Lexus technician also found out that AAMCO shorted out a 150 watt amp and tried to unsuccessfully solder the amp back to the fuse box. Which ended up costing me and additional $700 to replace? My total bill came out to $1478.24 which I personally believe should be covered by AAMCO and the bill that I paid for the unnecessary repairs and service at AAMCO should be fully refunded.

If your vehicle needs a transmission, save yourself a lot of time & headache; just push it off of a cliff.

When I called AAMCO, Ron assured me that I would not be charged anything until they saw it & gave me a free evaluation. He then told me the transmission would cost about $2100 to rebuild. I really did not want to spend that much on a 15 year old truck, but I agreed. When they looked at it, closer, they said it would also need lines & a transmission cooler, which would be another $400. I told him no, just roll it out of the shop & I will come & get it. He asked me to not make a rash decision & he would see if there was something he could do. I reluctantly agreed. He called back the next day & spoke to my wife. He told her that he had found a way to only charge me another $100 by going with an after market cooler & making their own lines. She knew how upset I was, so she told him to wait until he spoke to me. I did not hear about that conversation until after I returned his call. I told him that I did not care what he worked out & told him to roll it out of the shop, since I decided not to fix it & I would get it the next day. He then informed me that it was already torn apart and he did not want to charge me “half” the price (>$1,000) and give me nothing in return. (After the job was done, the paper work showed that he had lied to me, since it should have only been $450 to put it back together.) Eventually, he agreed to do the entire job for the original quote. Since he had me over a barrel, I felt forced to accept it. Had I known about the earlier conversation with my wife, I would have demanded they put it back together & not charge me anything, since my wife clearly said to wait for my decision.

When I picked up the truck, Ron told me to be careful driving it home since there was something wrong with the brakes. When I told him there was nothing wrong when I gave him the truck, he said they do not test drive the vehicle. When I reminded him that they did test drive it, he clarified that they were only looking for transmission issues. They evidently failed to see a large puddle of brake fluid on the floor, since he had to put a half pint of fluid in it. It turns out they did not do anything to my brakes, other than fail to notice an obvious problem that somehow dramatically worsened in their possession. Now I find out that the brake repairs will cost almost another $1,000. Had I known about that, I certainly would not have had them repair it. That alone is enough to recommend against the AAMCO in Zanesville, OH.

Chris and Thomas at AAMCO in Riverside had my care for 2 + Months. I was in a minor fender bender in Riverside and had to take my car to the nearest place because I cracked my radiator. They had my car for two full months and kept blaming the insurance company and the body shop for the delay. In what world does it take 2 months to fix ANY car!? My husband and I were hit by a drunk driver at a stop light and the guy was going 50 mph and we had his car back in two months. The problem with Chris and THomas is they wanted to get as much money as they could from the insurance company. So they submitted the first repair and then kept entering supplements for my car which totaled around $9k. I had my insurance company send me the pictures they recieved from AAMCO and I also showed them to my cousin who is a mechanic at a reputable shop and he indicated the repair should have been around $4k. How is it that this repair cost half of the total value of my car? We called Thomas frustrated about the car the week before it was shipped and threatened to call the police since he didn't want to give me the address where my car was being worked on and don't you know it, my car was done in a few days. The bottom line is, THomas admitted he was a transmission shop and wasn't qualified to complete this repair. He should have been honest about it then, but instead he capitalized on the opporunity of a person who got in an accident with her two dogs on the freeway and was scared.

* DO NOT USE THIS AAMCO * We spent $4,300.00 for them to rebuild a transmission in our motorhome on Nov 14, 2015. On March 9, 2017 took it back in for the same issue we had repaired in Nov. At this point they stood behind their warranty and rebuilt the transmission AGAIN which by the way took them a month to complete.

Just a little over month later when we were driving it to Colorado the transmission locked up and it was stuck out in the middle of nowhere, when we called AAMCO to inform them of this and that we had to have it towed to the closest AAMCO shop because we assumed they would stand behind their warranty like a month before... they wanted to have nothing to do with it... we went back and fourth with them for over a month and the final result was they told us they were not going to warranty the work... even though it was just a little over a month from when they rebuilt the transmission for the second time!

I would NOT RECOMMEND ANYONE TO USE THIS AAMCO THEY PICK AND CHOOSE WHAT AND WHEN THEY WANT TO STAND BEHIND THEIR WORK!

** BTW WE HAD TO PAY ANOTHER $4,000.00 FOR REPAIRS AND $1,600.00 TOW BILL

I Took car in for repair, because the engine light was on and a loud noise came on while driving.

FEBRUARY 20, 2017, CAR STOPPED AFTER I ORIGINALLY TOOK CAR INTO AAMCO ON JANUARY 2017 FOR

THE SAME PROBLEM. THEY QUOTED ME A HIGH $700 PRICE. AAA CAME TO TOW MY CAR TO AAMCO AND

ADVISED ME TO INFORM AAMCO OF THE PERSISTENT PROBLEMS. THEY TOLD ME TO TELL SADHU THE

OWNER. INSTEAD, A MECHANIC AND SADHU CAME WITH OIL IN HAND AND PUT OIL IN MY CAR AND DROVE

IT TO AAMCO. SO MY CAR SAT FOR DAYS IN AAMCO'S PARKING LOT.

THEY CONTACTED ME AND SAID THEY WERE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANYTHING (I.E. BATTERY, OIL LEAKS,

ETC.) THEY CHARGED ME $1795.16 WHICH MAXED OUT MY CREDIT CARD. HE NEVER PROVIDED ME WITH A

WRITTEN ESTIMATE, BUT QUALIFIED ME FOR AN AAMCO CREDIT CARD, OF WHICH I NEEDED A CO-SIGNER

TO REPAIR OIL CHANGE, IGNITION COIL, PVC VALVE, SPARK PLUGS, COVER GASKET, REPLACE VALVE AND

NEW OIL, NEW FILTER, COIL BOOTS AND LABOR. INSTEAD, MY MOTHER IN LAW, DONNA BLADES THOUGHT

SHE WAS CO-SIGNING.THEY ENDED UP PUTTING THE CARD IN HER NAME ENTIRELY. AFTER THAT, I PICKED

UP THE CAR AND NOTICED THAT ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON IMMEDIATELY AND THERE WAS AN OIL LEAK.

I RETURNED IT TO THE SHOP AND IT STAYED THERE FOR DAYS, APPROXIMATELY 3 WEEKS. PHILIP, THE

MANAGER SCOLDED THE MECHANICS. FOUND OUT THAT THEY DID NOT REPLACE THE SEAL THAT WAS

CAUSING THE OIL LEAK.

THINKING MY CAR WAS FIXED, I DROVE OFF THE LOT AND STARTED TO NOTICE THE OTHER LEAKS. THIS

TIME THE LEAKS WERE WORSE THAN BEFORE. I CALLED THE SHOP SEVERAL TIMES TO REPORT THIS

PROBLEM. THEY KEPT SAYING THAT PHILIP WAS NOT THERE. THEN SADHU THE OWNER, TOLD ME TO BRING

THE CAR IN. MY CAR HAS BEEN TAKEN IN 3 DIFFERENT TIMES.

They serviced my check engine light and 2 days later the light came back on! When I brought it back, they told my the issue was unrelated and transmission needed to be rebuilt (which is what a majority of the scam complaints for AAMCO say). Mind you I just pasted a state inspection with no issues. They scammed me out of $400 and tried to get me to pay $3200 more for my "transmission issue." DO NOT GO HERE. Andy also lied to me and told me he'd contacted my warranty provider when in fact he had not. He also gave me misinformation about what my warranty would cover. I'm contacting the BBB and I hope the future scammed customers do the same.

I had the displeasure of diagnostic tech at this location. Never before have I witnessed such illegal and unethical behavior from a company in my 20 years in the auto repair service industry. First of all I had to lie to insurance adjusters to fraud them into fixing cars that had nothing to do with any kind of collision that would cause damage to vehicles. I was instructed by the owner to smash transmissions to fraud insurance companies into thinking that the car was damaged by running over something in the road. Also customers that came in with simple problems like possibly a sensor or even a misfire were hit with having to have major transmission work done at elevated prices. Some customers were even charged for parts and services they did not need just to line the pockets of these crooks. I am out of the transmission world now thank God and will not be returning.

I took my 2003 cadillac cts to Aamco Transmission .where they were told to fix. It from one end to the other .They did 1100$in labor and 700$ inparts totallying2276.61$all together. They never touched my transmission. And said they were told not to fix it.But if that was true Why would i take my car to a transmission shop for specfically to be fixed.by a transmission shop.So all inall it costed me 2300$ for a windshield wiper motor. And a burnt wiring harness which they put a warranty on a used pick pull part.s.i even ask the speial mechanic to ride with me when i picked it upbecause it did the same thg. As it did when i dropped it off.He told me it would pull itself out of it No Not iwhen u never even checked it out. Claudia Bishops. 126 dogwood lane austin ark72007paid in full in cash

I took my van by tow truck to Aamco on March 14th just to get the free check engine light test. I personally went in twice and called prior to towing if I could bring it that day the owner Brian said OK. I planned on waiting and towing it home later, Brian told me to leave it because they were busy.

Brian called me a week later and said I owed him 95 dollars to get my van back and they did nothing. It was just like when I towed it in, and it's still there. I'm thinking I'm going to have to go with the police and check for sabotage, because Brian said the motor was no good.

Brought my car in to get my transmission check and it took them 4 days to diagnostic that's one, then then told me I need a new tranny so I gave them the go ahead to fix it ,after almost a month I get my car back, the car makes noise on one side ,they broke a bracket on my radiator, don't know why that they had to touch the radiator, then my front hood is off line and doesn't shut probably and a big long scratch on the top of the hood ,and then the car shakes when I drive ,and last put not least it looks like they side swipe something on the passenger side, after having my car for almost a month ,all this happen there,so now I have to take them to small claims court, stay away from there

I brought my 2014 Nissan Altima to this Aamco Transmission Specelist to see why it was acting erratically. After inspection they said the transmission was unrepairable and had to be replaced and not repaired because it is a CVT type transmission and that it couldn't be rebuilt. The esitmate was $3000 to $4000. I decided to get a second opiniion at another Aamco shop and it was the exactt same story. I then decided to haul it North to "My" mechanic and found that the exhoust pipe and catalitic converter had been crushed, which was putting the car in limp mode. I replaced the exaust pipes for $160.00 and the car has run perfectly ever since. What do you think ? Is Aamco a ripoff?

DO NOT go to Aamco Transmissions for any work especially major work. My transmission broke down and needed to be rebuilt. I read previous reviews of Aamco Trasnmissions and Total Car Care around transmission related work and should have paid closer attention to the warnings. Many reviews said that after the work they started experiencing a lot of other issues with their cars and that’s exactly what has been going on. Ever since I took my car to them it has not felt right. NO where close to how it felt before. Immediately after picking up my car there was a violent vibration which they blamed on mounts. They told me I needed to replace 2 motor mounts so I went ahead and let them do that as well. BIG MISTAKE. Also find it funny that my transmission was removed completely from the car and the technician said I needed mounts and replaced two motor mounts but said nothing about the two transmission mounts that were cracked, worn and obviously needed to be replaced. So ALL the motor mounts were replaced and still there was vibration. What do they do? Blame me. I must have hit something that caused severe damage to the frame of the car although I never had any vibration at all before. They also broke the wheel lock key for my car during their work and decided not to tell me anything about that. I could only assume they were trying to hide that from me in hopes that I would overlook it or forget about it entirely. Luckily, I realized a few weeks later before I had some kind of emergency and was stuck on the side of road, unable to remove my wheel. When I called them about it they told me that it just happens sometimes and that I’m basically on my own for getting them replaced. Funny how I have never broken them before or on any of the many other cars I have worked on but as soon as I take it to them they just snap apparently. Im sure they did something they were not supposed to do and blamed something else so they wouldn’t have to pay me back.

Do not let the word transmission in their name fool you. If you need an oil change, sure try your luck. It would be difficult for them to mess that up. If you need major work done like a transmission, I would try the almost 2 minutes down the road. Unless of course you also like spending close to $4000 on bad sloppy work just to turn around and spend more money fixings other things that miraculously start going bad immediately after Aamco does the work. If you do go to this terrible place, try and make a detailed list of things that your car was NOT doing before if you can. As silly and stupid as that may sound, if you actually can put that list together that may help in the long run dealing with this horrible auto shop. That way when you do notice that its making a sound that sounds like an exhaust leak and you know they had to take apart the exhaust as part of the installation, or there is all of a sudden a high pitched whistling from time to time that wasn’t there before or all of a sudden a violent vibration when you know your car didn’t feel like that before and it had to have been something that they damaged during install, it will be easier for you to dispute these things. Stay away from Aamco Transmissions and Total care in Glen Burnie. Do not make the same mistake I and many others before me have made. They will just tell you that it will go away after a while, which the problems have not, or that its basically not their problem or fault, go figure it out yourself.

In hindsight, I completely regret taking my car to Aamco for any work. This has been a terrible and frustrating experience. I should have got my vehicle towed to a shop literally 2 minutes down the road called . Much better 3 year warranty that comes standard as opposed to the 18 month warranty that forces me to go back to shady Aamco for any issues with my transmission. Based on the 4 times I have already brought my car back within a month of having the work done I can tell that any future warranty work I need will be frustrating as well. I will never be going to this or any Aamco for any work ever again. DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR HERE!!!

BEWARE OF AAMCO 539 West Rincon Street, Corona, CA 92880

We were referred to this location to inspect our work truck which began leaking transmission fluid. From the beginning we told the manager Adrian Meza twice that we want any old parts back. Aamco called us with an estimate for $2300, which we approved being at their mercy and reiterated we want the old parts saved and put in the back of the truck at time of pickup. We received a call earlier in the week stating the truck was done and the total is $3198.00 I inquired about the price increase over the estimate and was told the torque converter was bad too.. We asked for the exact total so we could have a check ready at time of pickup.

Adrian said they only accept credit card or cash. I said, ok, let me call you back with a debit card. My office manager called back today, Friday December 9, 2016 to provide the debit card in which Adrian said he couldn't accept over the phone but could fax an authorization. My office manager reminded Adrian to please give the old parts to our employee with he comes in today to pick up the vehicle and once again to put the old parts in the back of the truck. Adrian claimed we never told him we wanted the old parts and they no longer have them. We reminded him he was personally told separately by the owner and his father to save the parts! We told Adrian if you do not have the parts we will go ahead and pay for it but we will seek legal action, sue them, and file a complaint with CA Bureau of Automotive Repair at which time he said "in that case we want cash now". We are in business and do not pay anyone in cash, ever! I know the IRS will be interested in reading our complaint about their business practices of demanding cash only.

Aamco is holding our truck hostage with their strong arm tactics , so today, the same day we filed a lawsuit in small claims for $7,500.00. Aamco violated directly CA Law provisions for automotive repair act, they did not obtain a signature for a work order, they did not obtain a single signature for anything, they failed to provide a written estimate required under the law, they failed to save the old parts required under the law when asked they must save and return. Adrian call lie all he wants now, the bottom line is the law is on our side. We have a court date of January 30, 2017. Under the law they cannot collect a penny because they didn't follow protocol, we had no problem paying provided our parts were returned as requested. Our business vehicle is being held hostage and since we signed nothing will be calling the Corona Police Department to see about reporting the vehicle stolen. They will be responsible for ANY damage to our vehicle while in their possession.

Took my car to ammco for a free check engine light diagnostic. The manager said the car needed a major tune up, plus two new coils. $600.00 later, with a one year warranty, the car runs like crap, and instead of honoring the repairs, they have done nothing. When I checked the status, they told me I need a new engine. Please never take your car to these dumbasses.

Have never written a bad review before as I believe personalities shift from business to business, but my exeprience at AAMCO in Gastonia was beyond appalling.

I took my used '05 Jetta to them to fix the only issue which was an issue when shifting from 1st to 2nd. Nothing major just seemed like the car was having trouble shifting gears. I was very happy when I took it in and they said it was free of charge to look it over and find the issue. The fact they were working for free until they could help was setting me at ease and drastically increased their standing with me.

However, a day later I get a call explaining they haven't found the problem and they need to remove the transmission and tear it apart to find the issue. This was going to cost me $800. I still wasnt upset. I wasn't happy about that large number, but they had done all they could and with a specialized transmission issue I assumed it would be this much anywhere else as well.

Several days later I get another call explaining the transmission was going to need $3,100 worth of repairs. This is when all good feelings left. I repeatedly asked for explanations as to why the cost was so high and received vague answers like "the parts are experience" and "there's labor costs so....". After several tries we finally got a list of parts that needed to be replaced.

The next day I got a call and they had found more bills to tack on top of the $3,100 and the $800 I owed them already. At this point, I wasn't feeling great about them at all so we called around other garages to see what we could find.

We went in and told them to pack up the parts to my car and the next day we had a tow truck haul it to Ms. D's in Belmont. They fixed the same issue for less than $1,000 and the car runs great.

Heres where it gets REALLY fun.

Previously to taking it to AAMCO we had Ms. D's inspect it and check it out. After taking it to AAMCO and back to Ms. D's (sidenote: I did not, nor did any family member drive this in between. It went straight from the inspection to AAMCO and straight from AAMCO back to Ms. D's) there was a broken coolant distributor to be replaced. This is located direclty under the car and it was not broken before we took it to AAMCO. Things did get confrontational when we told them to not replace a single nut on our car, put it in a box and we'd pick it up the next day. It seems like they took out their frustrations on my car and added another $100 to my bill. Perhaps it was an accident, but there were greasy fingerprints all over the broken part and this was discovered before Ms. D's did any work to the car.

Also, when we asked how much we owed AAMCO we were only charged $430. This sounds great, but they quoted me $800 to take it apart so why did the price suddenly drop $370? I highly doubt they felt like giving me a discount after we had to yell at the manager!

So in the end my car was fixed with only a bill of $980 at Ms. D's (GREAT service there btw) when AAMCO quoted me$800 just to find the problem. On the outside they seem like a great business, but do NOT be fooled. I wouldnt take my car to them for an oil change. After being lied to, sabotaged, and taken for a fool I can honestly say they are not the shop you want in charge of your car.

This place is the worst and based on all the other similar posts im reading on yelp.com im not the first person to feel ripped off by these guys.

Took my car there, 3 weeks later they said my raired because it was just a seal leak, Took car home and fluid was pouring out of the car, So I took it back then almost 3 weeks later they said I needed to have the transmission re built on a manual transmission? Why did they not figure this out during the first 3 weeks? I told them this is what the first place said and they assured me that it was just a seal leak, i could have had done at another shop for less money and back in my garage in two days. beware of this place.

Update currently took my car to another repair shop and they informed me the work that was done on my car is the worst they have seen the car needs to be repaired again because AAMCO didnt fix it right.

Dirty shop, unprofessional employees,

I left my 98 Chevy Blazer at AAMCO in Fort Pierce to have my transmission rebuilt. I was charged $2,395.07 for the job. 1 month later I had transmission fluid all over my driveway. I called Bobby the manager, he informed me the seal and gasket need to be replaced now. I told him this should should have been done at the time he rebuilt the transmission. He quoted me another $600.00 to do the job. I have written proof that the seal and gasket should have been replaced at the time he rebuilt the transmission, from Anderson Transmission. Jay a manager at AAMCO in Lake Park Florida shop is going to testify for me in court that the seal and gasket should have been changed at the time of the rebuilt. Jay will complete the job at no cost to me.

I'M VERY UPSET ABOUT THE SERVICE THAT AAMCO (WPB) IS RENDERING TO IT'S CUSTOMERS!! I TOOK MY 2004 CADILLAC CTS THERE & I THOROUGHLY EXPLAINED TO RALPH AND ROBERT, THE ISSUE THAT I WAS HAVING WITH MY CAR. AFTER MY CAR WAS SO-CALLED REPAIRED, I RECEIVED A CALL FROM RALPH STATING THAT THE WORK THAT WAS DONE CORRECTED THE ISSUE THAT I WAS HAVING WITH MY TRANSMISSION. I PAID OVER $1200 FOR THIS SERVICE. AFTER TAKING MY CAR STRAIGHT HOME FROM THE SHOP & NOT DRIVING IT AGAIN UNTIL THE NEXT MORNING, I NOTICED THAT MY CAR WAS RUNNING EVEN WORSE NOW THAN IT WAS PRIOR TO THE REPAIR BY AAMCO. NOT ONLY WAS MY CAR STILL HAVING ISSUES COMING OUT OF 1ST GEAR, BUT NOW IT WAS HAVING PROBLEMS COMING OUT OF 2ND GEAR AS WELL. I CALLED AND TOLD RALPH WHAT WAS GOING ON & HE ACCUSED ME OF BEING DEFENSIVE & HE DIDN'T SEEM THE LEAST BIT CONCERNED ABOUT ANYTHING, BUT TAKING ANOTHER LOOK @ MY CAR AND GIVING ME ANOTHER ESTIMATE OF HOW MUCH IT WOULD COST TO FIX IT AGAIN. AAMCO (WEST PALM BEACH//BELVEDERE) ISN'T CONCERNED ABOUT THEIR CUSTOMERS, THEY'RE ONLY OUT TO MILK CUSTOMERS OUT OF THEIR HARD-EARNED MONEY! NEEDLESS TO SAY, I WANT MY MONEY BACK & I WON'T BE SPENDING ANOTHER DIME WITH AAMCO!! i'VE FOUND THEIR WORKERS TO BE VERY DISHONEST TO SAY THE LEAST!!! DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR TO AAMCO, YOU'LL BE SORRY THAT YOU DID!!!!

Our Chevrolet Tahoe had the transmission go out a few days ago, June 2016. We called Aamco and they picked up our Tahoe from our home and told us they would tell us an estimate in a day or two. A man named Steve called us and said that the Transmission needed to be rebuilt and since they already had it taken apart, he suggested we also get the rear main seal replaced because he said it had a minor leak and we might as well get it done now. We agreed based on the suggestion and also added that they repair our A/C since it went out as well. They didn't get back to us for a couple of days so we called and he was very rude and condescending and short with us. He said it wasn't ready and he would call us when it was or if we wanted we could get it sooner and not do the A/C yet.

We said no we will wait til it is all complete. He ensured the rear main seal had been done and the transmission will be done with a 3 year warranty. We agreed. I have been driving the Tahoe for a couple of days now and the Check Engine Oil Level light came on. I got home and my husband checked and it is bone dry! I cannot drive my truck now with no oil thanks to the careless technicians and not putting oil back after they drained it. We didn't think to inspect it because they made us pay before they even gave us the keys or showed us where the truck was so we signed, paid, they handed us the keys and we left because we figured being Aamco they wouldn't make such a huge error. After looking over the paperwork, they also did NOT do the rear main seal like they were supposed to!

Their lines are recorded and we know for a fact we had the conversation over and over about agreeing to the suggested repair to the rear main seal and that it was all fixed and ready to go when they called us to pick it up. So now $4,500 later we cannot drive our truck! Being a United States Marine Corps family, this was a huge expense with an expectation that it would be a good investment in order for our paid off vehicle to continue to last throughout the years. We are absolutely horrified they did this to our family as this was the main vehicle that we transport our children in and they have summer sports camps that they cannot miss or be late to. There could now be engine damage etc and this is absolutely so unfair and devastating to us!

Drove my work truck into Amco on 82nd Street. Spoke with Dave about my heater core leaking he told me that it would be 2 days to fix my heater core and $580. Had to go out of town when I returned I was anxious to pick up my truck. No one ever called me. I showed up to pick up my truck and I had found that there was severe damage to my vehicle. On inspecting my truck I discovered. That the inside door handle was busted and hanging out of the door panel the trim that goes behind the door handle was laying on the passenger seat my fender wall was sitting on top of my tire so I crawled

underneath the truck just to discover that my torsion bar had been cut with a Pneumatic grinder a hole drilled in my gas tank and my left rear tire was flat when I questioned them upon the damage to my vehicle they told me that the torsion bar broke just sitting on their lot and they weren't responsible for any of the Damage Done to my vehicle Dave did say that they would fix my door handle on the inside of my truck. And that was before I discovered the rest of the damage had to have it towed out and took it to a suspension shop to start all the repairs needed to my vehicle and they never fixed the heater core

FRAUD!!!! FRAUD!!! I took my 2008 BMW X3 in for an issue of it missing. They told me I needed a new transmission. They kept the car for 3 weeks! When I got it back, after them putting in a certified transmission, the car still had the SAME PROBLEMS AS BEFORE! I took it back again, and now they say its the spark plugs and coil and want me to pay $1000. This was the issue to begin with and the car DID NOT NEED A NEW TRANSMISSION! THEY ARE A FRAUD AND DENNY THE MANAGER IS THE WORST! BEWARE!!! DONT TAKE YOUR CAR TO AAMCO!!!

So I was of course frustrated. While I am there, I am called every name in the book all because I felt as if they had taken advantage of a 17 yr old. I agreed, begrudgingly to pay the fee when another employee gets in my face, spitting while he is yelling curse words at me! Never before been abused by an employee like that and would have never thought it was even possible. Out $115 with no information on what is wrong with the clutch!

My 17 yr old son took his car in to see what was wrong with his clutch. $115 bill with no diagnostic and major verbal abuse. Employee said its either the bearing, the fork, the pressure plate or something else thats wrong. Not helpful at all. After expressing disappointment, I was cussed at, called names, spit on, and at one point they actually tried to keep the car.

This company also has a consumer report complaint about them on another site as well. After i have finished this complaint, i will be contacting a local news team that does reports about shreveport/bossier area companies that rip people off and i will also be contacting the better business bureau in an attempt to shut this company down permanently.

Now that we have gotten that warning out of the way, let me explain what happened:

My fiance and i went to cottman's transmission to purchase a car There was an ad for several cars in a local classified ads newspaper) and the prices were in our range. We looked at several that we were interested in, but they were either to expensive or "already sold". We finally settled on a '93 nissan maxima. The body was in great condition Although the paint on the hood was peeling and faded), the engine We were told) was new...As was the transmission. We were told that the only thing wrong was that there was an electrical problem...An open circuit, to be exact. We were assured that the problem could be fixed in at most 2 days Depending on the work load of the shop) and that it should not cost more than $200...$500 if the main computer was gone. Mind you now, aaron bennett looked me in the eye the whole time he's explaining this to me. He said that he "just wanted to get the money he put in it back".

We were also told that the car had an after factory sound system Pioneer cd player, "10's or 12's in the trunk", good speakers throughout...And "i'll get you the faceplate for the cd player"). The car goes to "his electircal mechanic"s shop. We tried to contact mr. Bennett the next day trying to find out if the car had been shipped...No answer from aaron, but we're assured that he will call us back. We knew the name of the place he was sending it, so we called them.

At first, we're told that "there is no open circuit, but there is a 'mystery shift' ". I have no idea what this means, but i'm hopeful since there's no open circuit and we may be paying less than expected. The mechanic tells us he needs to get in touch with aaron to find out what work they did on it and why there may be this "mystery shift".

Still no word from anyone by the next day, so we again call cottman's...Aaron, again, is nowhere to be found. I'm beginning to get worried as now i have realized that he has not even signed the title We did have the sale notarized, so i'm not in a panic...Yet). I inform the receptionist that we need the title to be signed and that the mechanic needs to speak with aaron to find out what might be going wrong. Again, i am assured that he will call me...Do i really need to mention that to this day he still has not called me back?? Ok, to this day he still has not called me back.

I call the shop where the car is...The mechanic says he can't continue until he speaks with aaron, so they are at a stand still. That was early in the morning...I call later in the afternoon and they say they still haven't spoken to aaron, but that both the engine control module and the transmission control module are shot and that cottman's should have called me to give me the parts needed and prices. I call cottman's and they say that they have not spoken to the mechanic. This pattern continues for a few more calls and finally the mechanic tells me that the total is going to be around $1300 for the 2 modules before he can continue to work and find out what is even wrong with the car.

I try to contact aaron at cottman's transmissions to inform him that this is unacceptable and that if i wanted to spend $1800 Which is not the problem) i would have bought a car that was at least running right Trust me, there were several cars we were looking at that cost less than that, that actually were working). Surprise, surprise..."aaron's not in right now...He's in and out all day but i'll pass the message on to him and he'll call you back". So my spouse and i decide to go s****. />

We call back on our cell phone...We say that we're interested in buying one of the cars we saw in the newspaper...And guess what?? Aaron is now in the office!! wow!! i didn't see that coming!! when he gets on the phone we ask about a car that he told us earlier was already sold...And guess what?? It's not sold!! he's selling it for $300 more than what we bought our car for!! wow!! yet another surprise...

At this point my fiance puts him on a brief hold and i get on the phone...Needless to say he sounds shocked to hear my voice...I tell him everything that's going on and that i don't appreciate it and this is not what we signed on for. He stammers his way through a few explanations including, "huh...I haven't talked to them so i don't know what's going on with the car..." to which i reply, "odd...The mechanic told me he got off the phone with you about an hour ago and that you were supposed to call us and tell us what was happeneing..."

"oh no...I haven't heard anything..Tell you what, i'm going to call him right now and call you right back...Let me get your number..."

I'm thinking, "yeah, right...You'll call", but i like to pretend in my head that this is a fairly descent world and people aren't full of crap and that maybe...Maybe there was some miscommunication...Maybe they usually scam people and the mechanic wasn't told to not scam us...Maybe the mechanic had the wrong car in mind??? Maybe there was some big confusion??

I give him 20 minutes to call me back...No call Of course, and by this time i've already called the police to find out what i can and can not do to get my money back and/or car fixed)...So i call back...Wow...Big surprise!!! aaron isn't available!! i tell the receptionist, "look, i just spoke to him and i know he's there...Put him on the phone."

Here response, "he just left..."

I inform him...Her that i've called the police and i'm about to start legal proceedings. She says she'll inform

Thankfully, we contacted someone else about another car Because the broken maxima is our only car at this point) and the guy happens to be a mechanic. He hears what's going on and says he'll tow the car to his shop and take a look at it for free and that he won't charge us too much to fix it, but from what he's hearing the diagnosis is all wrong. So...We're still waiting to see what exactly is really wrong with the car.

But, while we're paying for the "diagnostics" at the mechanic's shop Which he said he couldn't run because the 2 modules were out...Yeah, $73 dollars pissed down the drain plus the $23 cab ride...$100 for nothing)...While we're there, we realize the face plate for the stereo is still not on...The speakers in the trunk?? Not there...Just wires for the speakers and amplifier...And there's still no real telling what is really wrong with the car...It might end up costing god only knows what for a car originally priced at $1000.

Long story short Too late, huh?) do not go to cottman's transmission at 9167 linwood ave in shreveport, la...But if you find that you have to and you have no other choice?? Bring your own vaselline because they do not provide any!!!

The Aamco locations in Renton, Auburn, and Puyallup are all owned and operated by Louvin Automotive LLC. Unfortunately I have been bounced around through 2 of their 3 locations and now am left absolutely shoved off because of they simply expect me to just deal with having a poorly done transmission. Summarized version is that I had my transmission rebuilt at Puyallup Aamco In November of 2015. The initial job was supposed to take 3 days, but now it has been 6 months of run around and I have requested a full refund. I attempted to meet directly with the owner of Louvin Automotive in an attempt to resolve directly but have since been avoided and ignored. I was without my truck for over 3 months, bounced across 4 managers and 2 locations, and now am being avoided by the owner of the Louvin Automotive Group Louise Bostock.

I was asked to have an independent repair facility inspect the truck after I met with the owner to request my refund, and since providing the results which completely validated my claims and requesting the refund, plus the cost of the inspection, both the owner Louise Bostock, and the Regional Operations Manager Jake Ashley, refuses to respond to my calls, emails, and corporate resolutions attempts. I was contacted by Aamco Customer Support and was threatened with litigation if I wanted to pursue my request for refund, then told I would be contacted for further resolution. Upon calling today I was told by Aamco Customer Support that they have no responsibility to process my refund, that it is the sole responsibility of the Franchisee to resolve the situation. I explained that no one within the franchise, Louvin Automotive, will return my calls or text and have not for some time now. I am turning to the Attorney General's office due to the fact that I am being absolutely avoided by a company that failed to perform the service they were payed over $4000 to perform, had multiple opportunities to remedy (3 months of them having my truck), and now refuses to provide refund and response for both the initial service and the inspection I was requested to have performed due to their poor workmanship and management. I am requesting my initial service of $4003.00 as well as the 3rd party inspection of $104.04 be refunded immediately. It has now been 6 months and a massive amount of my time and inconvenience and this has simply gone too far. As a single full time parent that works, this has been exhausting and completely miserable handling by Aamco/Louvin Automotive. Worst experience humanly possible, DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY OR ANY OF THEIR LOCATIONS.

Okay, so going on AAMCOs reputation, where Entrepreneur 500 magazine rated them number 1. The majority of online reviews were positive AND it IS a huge company with all the supposed backing that implies. So I take my car in on 1/29, was told it would cost $477 to properly diagnose but that fee would also pay for the labor R&R, the replacement transmission would have a 12 month/12000 miles warranty because it would be a rebuilt-used rather than just used. That, the manager explained, would be the reason it would take 7 to 10 days to repair. A few days later, on 2/4, the manager called and informed me I would need to prepay for the rebuilt transmission, at a cost of $1500 but the car would be ready in a couple of days. At one week, I was informed someone was sick etc and it would a few more days. This excuse went on for several more days. Meantime the telephone numbers they had stopped working, when an AAMCO employee called me later, THAT number wouldn't accept incoming calls either. I had to rent a car for appointments and childcare, costing an additional $600. Now, over a month after agreeing to have my transmission rebuilt and installed, the current manager informed me he has no mechanic and no "builders" - he cannot complete the repairs and the previous manager had cleaned out the bank account of the AAMCO franchise, so there's no money for a refund. I filed a charge-back on the $477 but it seems the only way to get my car reassembled (apparently a couple mechanics quit and now they are NOT a transmission shop) The current manager is a nice enough guy, but unless he's willing to give me 1500 bucks out of his pocket, no amount of politeness will get my car under me and my health and the health of my autistic children is jeopardized.

I have waited two months to provide a reasonable review instead of writing one out of spite or anger. I contacted AAMCO in east Mesa, Az. about my engine light that had come on. Made the appointment took it in and $79 later they claimed it was the gas cap. Really! A gas cap...because the kid at Autozone plugged in the code reader and suggested I take the vehicle in for a more serious problem having to do with the fuel vapor emission system. Hence my appointment. Long story short and an additional $743 with two months of having the vehicle at their shop (luckly I had another vehicle). It was still not repaired. Every time I went to complete the drive cycle (that they had no time to complete) it would fail. After the sixth time I said forget it. The same code kept displaying and every componet in that system was replaced. They finally said that it was failing a smoke test that supposedly passed after replacing the gas cap. Just like they cleaned the system from charcoal because the canister ruptured. Charcoal that they kept finding in the corners of th e system that contains round tubes...yeah round tubes. They were respectful and give them that, but again not once did I go on a verbal rampage. Not once was I offered a discount nor did the AAMCO corporate office offer any insight on why the shop could not fix my vehicle. Their knowledge of vehicle repair is limited to basic oil changes, brakes and tires. The reason I state this is because the two months of having to go back, I witnessed three other consumers with transmission problems, warranty issues, and engine tune ups gone wrong. Please...Do not go to this location. Ive heard horror stories from others that other AAMCO locations are the same but I strongly feel that I will not be taking my vehicles to any of them to find out. Thank you for reading and suggest on researching where you take your vehicle for service.

This AAMCO has had my car for four weeks now trying to rebuild the transmission. They've said it was fixed and we brought it home only to find out that there was a major leak under the front axel. We took it back, they said they fixed it again, and the next morning it shut off when I was backing out of the driveway. My car is in worse shape then when I brought it there to begin with. Now I'm stuck with having to keep taking it back there until it is properly fixed. This is a horrible shop, they don't know what they're doing and the customer service stinks. I do not recommend anyone take their car here! I've tried to complain to the customer care line and I keep getting a voicemail. This has been the absolute worst experience I have ever had with car repair.

  • Dec 29, 2015

I took my truck to this location with issues my transmission. I was told by JR that they could diagnose my transmission for $90 and got a verbal esimate of about $1400 to rebuild. After a brief time, he tells me the computer said that I lost my overdrive. To get a better understanding, a more comprehensive diagnostic, he would need to take apart the transmission-- in an effort to save me some money. This service supposedly costs is 6 hrs of labor.

Well about a week later, I get an estimate for over $2000 to rebuild my tranmission. After I balked at that price and found another place to get the world, he tried to saddle me with a huge bill for supposedly "working on my transmission." When I informed him that I would not use his shop to repair my vehicle, he left me a voicemail stating my transmission put back together and was back in my car.

I arrive to pickup up car, and the transmission is not in the car and its was piece. In the effort to stop the bleeding from my pockets, I event paid $540 to get my car back and so repairs can be completed at another shop.

I learned when my car was repaired at the new shop, that several parts were left off my original tranmission and which cost me an additonal $200. In total, dealing with this shop costs me an additional $1000 in fees and rental car costs. The kicker was I was given a guilt trip for not doing business with him.

My advice to other customers is steer away from this location. My advice to the owner and franchiser, bad business practices hurt your business and consumers. Learn to the right thing.
