I was contacted by A&G Constuction (Greg Talamantez) on-line through a contractor search website called Thumbtack. He had all good 5 star reviews and claimed to be in business for almost 60 years. I signed a contract to have the shingles and plywood removed and replaced on my three seasons room.
He offered me a 10% discount if I paid in advance so I did going by his references on Thumbtack. I went on the roof and caught him installing the new roof right over the old shingles and rotting plywood. When I confronted him he immediately abandoned the job and left.
After some research I found out that he did not have a permit or a roofing licence and I also ran across an article on line from Crains Chicago Business dated November 19, 2015 that Greg Talamantez was sued by his former employer for embezzling over $500,000.
00 during the 4 years he spent there as comptroller. He does not have a company truck,he showed up in his personal vehicle, he has no business phone, his business number is actually his cell phone that comes back JT Sportcards on the called ID, and his business address to his so called corporate address comes back to a 3 flat apartment building.
It has been almost 2 months since I paid him and he has not returned my money. He said that he had spent all the money and was going to the casino to try to win it. In the meantime my roof is leaking much worse than before he even got here and it is causing damage inside the room. I cant afford to hire anyone else until I get my money back. He keeps asking me to give him more time to get the money or to make payments and every thing he says turns out to be a lie. This guy could not be trusted by his own mother. There is no way I would trust him to make payments. After he makes 1 payment he vanishes and then I'm screwed.
